GENERAL
INSTRUCTIONS
Holiday Homework & Summer Vacation Guidelines
Time Management
 Divide your time wisely between study, recreation, and hobbies.
 Set a daily routine and stick to it to ensure a balanced schedule.

Completion of Homework
 All holiday homework must be completed neatly and independently.
 Ensure work is done on the assigned notebooks or sheets as instructed by subject teachers.

Subject-Wise Work
 Follow the specific guidelines provided by each subject teacher.
 Label each assignment properly (Name, Roll Number, Subject, Date).

Neatness and Presentation


 Maintain clean handwriting and organized presentation.
 Use colors/charts/diagrams wherever needed to make the work attractive.

Reading and Vocabulary


 Read at least one English and one Hindi book during the vacation.
 Make a vocabulary list of new words learned and write their meanings and usage in sentences.

Skill Development
 Engage in activities that enhance your creativity like drawing, craft, music, or coding.
 Learn at least one new skill or hobby during the holidays.

Physical Activity
 Include daily physical exercise, yoga, or outdoor games (where safe) to stay active and healthy.

Project Work (if applicable)


 Follow the CBSE guidelines for any project work.
 Keep record of materials used, procedure followed, and ensure originality of content.

Health and Safety


 Stay hydrated and follow a healthy diet.

ENGLISH
1. Reading Activity
Instructions: Read any one of the following books:
• The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain
• Matilda by Roald Dahl
• The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank
Task:
• Write a short book review (150–200 words). Include:
o Title & author o Main characters o Summary (in your own words)
o What you liked/disliked o Moral or message of the story
2. Writing Task
• Imagine a day without electricity. Write a diary entry about your experience
(150–200 words)
• Create a short story (200–300 words) starting with: "It was a cold and stormy
night when I heard a knock on the door…"
3. Character Sketch
Choose one character from your English literature book and write a character sketch (150–
200 words). Include:
• Physical description (if known)
• Personality traits
• Actions and decisions
• Why you liked/disliked the character
4. Poem Appreciation
Choose any one poem from your syllabus:
Write:
• Summary in your own words
• Meaning of difficult words (minimum 5)
• Literary devices used (simile, metaphor, personification, etc.)
• What you feel after reading the poem (personal response)
5. Sentence Transformation
Transform the following types of sentences (10 each):
• Assertive → Interrogative
• Active voice → Passive voice
• Direct speech → Indirect speech
• Positive → Negative
6. Grammar Scrapbook
Create a small scrapbook with examples of:
• 5 nouns, 5 pronouns, 5 adjectives, 5 verbs, and 5 adverbs
• For each, cut out sentences from newspapers or magazines and
highlight the word  Label the part of speech.

SST
1.Poster on Freedom Fighters:

• Choose any two unsung heroes of the Indian freedom struggle.

• Create a poster with images, a short biography, and their contributions.

2.Resource Survey :

• Make a table showing 10 resources around your home (like water, gas, food,
books).

• Classify them into natural, human-made, and human resources.

• Suggest one way to conserve each resource.

3.Map Activity

• On an outline map of India:


o Mark major soil types: alluvial, black, red, laterite, desert, mountain. o Highlight forest
regions and national parks.

4.Create a Timeline of Major Events:

• Create a timeline of important events between 1757 and 1857.

• Include events like the Battle of Plassey, Battle of Buxar, Doctrine of Lapse, and
Sepoy Rebellion.

• Use symbols, colors, and short descriptions for each event.

5.Historical Documentary Review

• Watch a documentary or film about the 1857 Rebellion.

6.The Structure of the Indian Government

• Prepare a detailed chart or diagram showing the structure of the Indian
