District at a Glance

There are seven Tahsils and seven Panchayat Samities in District. According to the 2011 Census there
was 541 Gram Panchayat for the purpose of Rural Development. The main crop grown in the distrct is paddy.

Bhandara district streches over an area of 3716.65 Sq.Km. Area under Urban sector is 49.34 Sq.Km. while the
area under the rural sector is 3667.31 Sq.Km. Bhandara district constitutes 1.21% of the total area of the
Maharashtra State. Total Poulation of the district according to 2011 census was 1136146 out of which 57345
were males and 562701 were females. Of the total population, 85% is residing in rural area and 15% is residing
in urban area. The density of the populatin according to the 2011 census was 306 persons/Sq.Km. which is much
below te density of Maharashtra State.
