Iconic Rivalries
THROUGH THE DECADES
Ferrari Vs Lamborghini
The Ultimate Italian Supercar Rivalry
The rivalry began not on the racetrack, but in a
heated argument between Ferruccio Lamborghini
and Enzo Ferrari.
Ferruccio Lamborghini was a successful tractor
manufacturer who loved fast cars. He owned several
Ferraris but was frustrated by their clutch issue.
When he complained to Enzo Ferrari, he reportedly
dismissed him, saying: "You’re just a tractor
maker. You know nothing about sports
cars!“
Being Insulted, Lamborghini vowed to build a better
car than Ferrari, founding Automobili
Lamborghini in 1963.

The Golden Era: 1960s–1980s
(V12 Wars & Radical Designs)
The Lamborghini Miura (1966) was the world’s first true supercar, with a
mid engine V12 layout that redefined performance.
Ferrari responded with the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 "Daytona" (1968), a front-engine
V12 grand tourer—showing their focus was still on racing, not road cars.
. The Lamborghini’s Countach (1974) shocked the world
with its wedge-shaped, scissor-door design,
becoming the poster car of the 1980s.
. Ferrari’s Berlinetta Boxer (1973) was more refined but
lacked
the Countach’s wild appeal.
Ferrari Vs Lamborghini
While Ferrari dominated motorsport (F1, Le Mans), Lamborghini
focused on road-going exotics, avoiding factory racing.
. Ferrari’s F40 (1987) was a raw, turbocharged
track monster, while Lamborghini’s Diablo (1990)
was a futuristic, all-wheel-drive beast.
