AIM AND OBJECTIVES

AIM: To provide a comprehensive analysis of Kautilya's Arthashastra and its relevance to

OBJECTIVES:

including realist theory, state formation, and public administration.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

MANDAL THEORY

Mandalas are:
 Amitra (Enemy): The enemy state that poses a direct threat to the ruler's own state.
 Ari (Friend of the Enemy): The state that is friendly with the enemy state.
 Mitra (Friend): The state that is friendly with the ruler's own state.
 Mitra-Ari (Friend of the Friend): The state that is friendly with the ruler's friend.
 Neutral: The state that remains neutral in conflicts between other states.
 Madhyama (Middle Kingdom): The state that is equidistant from the ruler's own state
and the enemy state.
