INDUCTIVE VERSUS DEDUCTIVE BIBLE STUDY METHOD

*. Inductive Bible Study helps each passage of the scripture speak for itself
rather than imposing framework on the passage.

*. Deductive Bible Study is a style of bible study that interpretes the Bible by
imposing ideas of motive into it. It is a method that converts the meaning of
scripture to soothe personal desire. Deductive Bible Study usually pick out a
phrase and interprets in isolation, without making a proper observation of
the story that comes before and after that particular phrase. So,to study the
Bible, it is essential to get the full picture and background of the entire
passage before interpreting.

INDUCTIVE BIBLE STUDY GUIDE

take place?.

How?- How did the people in the passage respond?.

2. Look for grammatical connections and relationship: repetitions,

comparisons,contrasts, cause and effect.

3.Identity key words and phrases

4.Note verb tense.

5.Look for conjunctions in the story, (What are you feeling, experience (use
the coloured pencils to trace words, phrase, concept, connection, theme)
INTERPRETATION

1.Develop some questions based on the text. Ask what is the significance of
your main observation and why they happened.

He say what He said?

3.Answer the question from the context.

4.Try to summarize the passage in one sentence.

you see the world?.

TOPIC: PRAYING IN THE HOLY GHOST

TEXT: Jude 1:20, Rom 8:26_26, Eph 6:8

LESSON OBJECTIVES

1. To understand the role of the holyspirit in

prayer 2. To recognize the benefits of praying
in the Holyghost
3. To apply praying in the Holyghost in our lives.

INTRODUCTION:
Praying in the holy ghost is a tool that God the father gave to us for
scriptural dominion. To pray in the holy ghost is to pray under the influence
and empowerment of the holyspirit (Romans 8:26-27). While those in the
upper room sat in expectation of the Spirit of God being poured out upon all
flesh, the invasion of heaven came as the divine expression of tongues.
Tongues is the witness that we have received power to walk in the power and
authority of God. When the fire of God comes upon the life of a man, its first
effect is heard from his tongue and lips (Acts 1:5, 2:3). These tongues of fire
fill every dimension of a person’s being and every spoken syllable has its
effect. The fire of God produces utterances from the heart that teach men to
speak out of the Spirit instead of the intellect, and brings forth every divine
utterance that will profit men (1 Corinthians 14:6).

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

1. What does it mean to pray in the holy ghost?

Eph 6:8, 1 Cor 14:2, Jude 1:20

2a. What is the role of the holy ghost in prayer?

Rom 8:26-27, Heb 7:25, Acts 1:8, John

14:26 2b. Why should believers pray in
tongues?
Jude 1:20, Eph 3:16,1 Cor 2:10-12, Psalm 51:12, Rom 15:13

2. How do we pray in the holy ghost? Luke

11:13, Jude 1:20, Eph 6:18, Gal 5:22_23 CONCLUSION:
As believers, praying in the holy ghost is very essential in our lives. By
yielding to the empowerment of the holyspirit in prayers, we are able to pray
God’s will, build our faith, overcome spiritual weakness an enjoy an intimate
relationship with God.

MEMORY VERSE:

1.Pray,Ask God to meet you in His Living Word.

2.Read the passage as if you were reading it for the first time.

OBSERVATION(What does the text say?)

Who?- Who is speaking? Who are the main people?.

Who is being addressed? What is happening?.

What is the science? What is the cultural context of the passage?.

Where?- Where is the passage taking place? Where did or will the event
take place?.

How?- How did the people in the passage respond?.

2. Look for grammatical connections and relationship: repetitions,

comparisons,contrasts, cause and effect.

3.Identity key words and phrases

4.Note verb tense.

5.Look for conjunctions in the story, (What are you feeling, experience (use
the coloured pencils to trace words, phrase, concept, connection, theme)

INTERPRETATION
1.Develop some questions based on the text. Ask what is the significance of
your main observation and why they happened.

2.Imagine the perspective of the people in the scene. If Jesus spoke, why did
He say what He said?

3.Answer the question from the context.

4.Try to summarize the passage in one sentence.

APPLICATION (What does the passage mean for me?)

1.How do you respond to what the passage is saying? Does it challenge how
you see the world?.

2.Is there a central truth that you need to put into practice?

3.What are the implications of the passage for the community of believers of
which you are a part?

God’s will, build our faith, overcome spiritual weakness an enjoy an intimate
relationship with God.

faith virtue and to virtue knowledge, and to knowledge tolerance and
temperance patience and to patience godliness, and to godliness brotherly
kindness and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you and
abound they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the
knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, but he that lacketh these things is blind
and cannot see afar off,and has forgotten that he was purged of his old
sins.Wherefore then rather brethren give diligence to make your calling and

Being saved by the grace of our Lord Jesus, we are therefore given the
mandate as believers to bring others into the kingdom of God by the saving
knowledge of Jesus Christ {John 15:16}. There may be series of challenges
and difficulties in an attempt to bring others into the saving grace of Christ

INDUCTIVE VERSUS DEDUCTIVE BIBLE STUDY METHOD

*. Inductive Bible Study helps each passage of the scripture speak for itself
rather than imposing framework on the passage.

*. Deductive Bible Study is a style of bible study that interpretes the Bible by
imposing ideas of motive into it. It is a method that converts the meaning of
scripture to soothe personal desire. Deductive Bible Study usually pick out a
phrase and interprets in isolation, without making a proper observation of
the story that comes before and after that particular phrase. So,to study the
Bible, it is essential to get the full picture and background of the entire
passage before interpreting.

INDUCTIVE BIBLE STUDY GUIDE

take place?.

How?- How did the people in the passage respond?.

2. Look for grammatical connections and relationship: repetitions,

comparisons,contrasts, cause and effect.

3.Identity key words and phrases

4.Note verb tense.

5.Look for conjunctions in the story, (What are you feeling, experience (use
the coloured pencils to trace words, phrase, concept, connection, theme)

INTERPRETATION

1.Develop some questions based on the text. Ask what is the significance of
your main observation and why they happened.

God’s will, build our faith, overcome spiritual weakness an enjoy an intimate
relationship with God.

temperance patience and to patience godliness, and to godliness brotherly
kindness and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you and
abound they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the
knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, but he that lacketh these things is blind
