Hello everyone, today we choose to introduce you to the state of Nevada.

The state year of Nevada is populated with 3 194 176 residents including 58 639
living in the capital, Carson City. Even though this state is deemed for being
extremely dry, there is the Humboldt.

The Humboldt is the main river of Nevada. It has a length of 480km and flows
entirely inside the north part of the state. It doesn't flow into any sea like many
rivers in the Great Basin. If we look at the map, we can see that it is in the west
of the USA, between California, Arizona, Utah, Oregon and Idaho.

As a state since 1864, Silver state, it's another name of Nevada. has its own flag,
motto or else seal. Each of these elements has a significant meaning. The flag who
exists since 26th March 1929, has a dark blue background with a yellow ribbon. On
it, there is a sentence, "BATTLE BORN"
This is a reference to the fact that the Nevada became an independent state during
American civil war. The silver star means the mineral wealth in silver and gold of
the USA
For the seal, it appeared in 1861 when the United State congress recognized the
territory. The drawings on it mean the same as the flag. The difference is the
agriculture is represented sheaf of wheat, sickle and plant in the foreground.
Moreover, it has 36 stars who are here to remind that Nevada became the 36th state.

The motto used to be "Volens and Potens" before being changed in 1866.
These are the Latins words for "willing and able". Then it became "All For Our
Country"
The state is also known for its national parks and each has its particularities.
First, Great Basin National Park
This park in Nevada has tall mountains and very old trees. People go there to hike,
see caves, and look at the stars at night.
Second, Lake Mead National Recreation Area

Lake Mead is a big lake on the Colorado River, made by the Hoover Dam.
People visit for boating, fishing, and hiking. The area has nice views and many
animals .

Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument

This place near Las Vegas has very old animal fossils, like mammoths and lions.
Scientists study them to learn about the past. Even Death Valley has its park but
what is Death Valley?
Death Valley is a very hot and dry desert in California, near Nevada. It is the
lowest place in North America. In summer, temperatures can go above 49°C. Even
though it is a tough place, some animals and plants live there.
Death Valley National Park
Is on the border of California and Nevada. It has mountains, sand dunes, and a very
dry lake. People visit to see Badwater Basin, the lowest point in North America,
and beautiful desert views.

But the main attraction of Nevada is Route 66. Route 66 isn't the only place where
Flash MCQueen got lost on his way to the Piston cup. It's also called
"U.S Highway 66", it was created in November 1926. It was one of the first highways
in the United States. The road was 2.448 miles long and connected Chicago,
Illinois, to Santa Monica, and California. It helped people to travel easily across
the country. Route 66 has many famous nicknames. It is called "Mother Road" by John
Steinbeck in his book The Grapes of Wrath. It is also known as the "Main Street of
America" because it was very important for business and travelers. During the Great
Depression in the 1930's, many farmers lost their land because of the Dust Bowl.
They traveled on Route 66 to move west to California for a better life.
The road became a symbol of hope for many Americans families. Route 66 is also
famous in pop culture. The road appears in many movies, books, and TV shows. There
was a show called Route 66 in the 1960's. Some towns along Route 66 became empty
when the road was replaced by modern highways. However, some people worked hard to
bring life back to these places. For example, Amboy, a small town in California,
was saved by people who wanted to keep its history alive. Music also helped make
Route 66 popular. In 1946, Bobby Troup wrote the song Get Your Kicks on Route 66.
Many famous artists like Nat King Cole and The Rolling Stones sang this song. It
made the road even more famous around the world.

The third most visited city in the USA is Las Vegas. In 2019 Las Vegas attracted a
phenomenal 42.5 million tourists.
This figure fell by more than half in 2020, at the height of the pandemic, with
only 19 million visitors recorded that year.
And the hotel room inventory in Las Vegas was only 25,430 in 1970. In 2019, this
number reached 150,259.

Among all the visitors that the city brings every year, we can count Formula 1
fans. In 2024, the Las Vegas Grand Prix attracted a total of 306.000 attendees over
the race weekend, with 175.000 unique visitors to the city.
The event generated an estimated economic impact of 934$ million for Las Vegas,
making it the second most beneficial weekend economically for the city in 2024,
following only the Super Bowl.

The Las Vegas Grand prix started in 1981, known as the Caeser's Palace Grand Prix
and had another season in 1982 but then, none. The sport only came back to the city
in 2022 as the third Grand Prix in the USA and is scheduled for 2025 and beyond. If
the race is so special to the fans, it's because it's one of the only night races
of the season. Also, it's one of the last races so sometimes we can know who the
winner is before the end of the season. For example, last year, we knew that the 3
times world champion, Max Verstappen became at this Grand Prix a 4 times world
champion even though it wasn't the last Grand Prix.
Even for celebrities Las Vegas is an important city. The singer The Weeknd.
During the covid in 2019 he released the famous song, Blinding Lights. In the
refrain, the Canadian sang sin city's cold and empty while driving drunk across Las
Vegas. But why did he call Las Vegas as sin city?

Las Vegas earned the Sin City moniker starting in the late 1940s due to its
reputation for gambling, prostitution, and embracing vice activities. Indeed, in
the city you can find 64 casinos, and around 80.000 weddings are held in a year.
But, for the cinema it's an historic city. At least 130 movies were shot here. Like
Rocky 4, Looney Tunes or Simon. Las Vegas seems like a city where you must choose
between Heaven, so your freedom or fame, stay in the city. And you, what would you
chose? Heaven or Las Vegas?
