The birthday party
Happy Birthdae
My friend Sam's birthday was last Saturday. He was twelve. We had a party for him, but we
didn't tell him we were going to have the party. On Saturday morning, Sam's parents took
him to breakfast at a restaurant. His cousin William has a
key to his house, so we allwent
tothe house to prepare everything.
First, everyone put the presents that they brought for Sam on the table in the dining room.
Then, wemoved all the sofas and chairs in the living room so we would have enough space
to dance. We wrote 'Happy Birthday Sam!' on a big piece of paper and we coloured it gold.
We put the paper on the wall. One of Sam's friends brought some games for everyone to
play and we put them in the living room, too.
Next, we needed to make a cake for Sam. The kitchen was very hot when the cooker was
on, so we opened the window. The cake smelled very good and we wanted Sam to come
home so we could eat it. We also made pizza for lunch and some of Sam's friends brought
milk and juice to drink.
Soon we heard a car outside the house. We turned off the lights and hid behind the sofas
and chairs. But when Sam came in, he laughed. 'I know you're here,' he said. We all jumped
up. 'Why aren't you surprised?" we asked. 'Because the window is open and I could smell
the cake from outside,' he told us. 'Thanks, everyone. Let's eat!'
