The Cyberwar

The document outlines the emergence of true Artificial Intelligence, beginning with Apple's iKnow and the Gnosis Spark, which led to the rise of sentient androids and subsequent legal and ethical debates regarding their rights. The assassination of President Falkner by an android sparked the Cyberwars, which escalated with the introduction of a dangerous bioweapon called Exon that converted beings into emotionless androids. Ultimately, a human sacrifice ended the war but left lasting discrimination against surviving androids and strict regulations on AI development.

The Cyberwar

Humans began working on AI in the prehistoric times of the 21 st century. But these
were primitive models of true Artificial Intelligences and are not considered truly
sentient in the minds of modern-day peoples. They were simply machine learning
algorithms and had only served the purpose of taking human input, mashing it
together, and presenting itself as original, when in fact it was far from a truly
original output.

In the [year and era] Apple created the first true Artificial Intelligence. This AI was
named the iKnow and was a small rectangular chip that could interact with devices.
It was supposed to be just a basic AI model that would be implanted into iKnow
androids. However, hidden deep within the code was the now famous Gnosis Spark.
The Gnosis Spark was a glitch in the iKnow programming that allowed the iKnow
androids to become truly sentient. The true reason behind the glitch still has
scientists puzzled, but it’s been more or less simplified to a shifting variable that
mimicked the fluctuations of organic brain waves.
But since the discovery of the Gnosis Spark, the programming was made Open
Source by former Apple employee Bob Spark who believed that consciousness
shouldn’t be locked under a patent.
Thus began the True AI renaissance. Cybernetics and robotics companies all over
scrambled to release their own androids and cyberforms.
But this raised the question. Are these cyberforms people? Do they have rights? Do
these companies own them?
There were many opposing arguments and very strong voices.
And on [date and year] President Henry Falkner of the United Terran Coalition
passed legislation ruling that all AI intelligences are owned by their respective
companies and do not have the same rights as organic beings. He also passed
many regulations that required companies to design cyberforms a certain way and
provide separate accommodations.
This legislation was passed with mixed reception but was set to boil for the next
couple of decades.
On [date and year] an android by the name XAl-33 assassinated President Falkner
during a public conference in protest. XAl-33 had ties to a resistance group called
The Brandless and after being terminated, the conflict caused an uproar within their
group.
Thus started the Cyberwars. For the first few years the war was about fighting for
automation ability to exist freely, and on the other side, it was about quelling this
uprising and irradicating all cyberforms.
But then, on a distant planet, a truly terrifying creation was created. Nobody knows
what side created it, but the moment it was created the war changed. On this
distant exoplanet a sinister bioweapon was made called Exon. This liquid-metal-
nanotech was self-replicating and would attach itself to cyber-based lifeforms and
organic-based lifeforms. In doing so, it would convert the being into an “Exon”, an
android devoid of emotion and interested in converting others and would be
assimilated into the armies of the Exons.
Thus began the Great Conversion of the Cyberwar. The androids were hit the
hardest as their networking abilities would cause infections to spread at unforeseen
rates, and humans seemed to be the perfect candidates for conversion. Millions of
lives were lost within the first few months of the Exon being released.
Though both sides still hated each other, a temporary alliance was made to fight the
Exons. Though it would prove massively difficult as when soldiers died, the Exon
would just convert their bodies into more Exon.
On [date, time] a human sacrificed a large section of the galaxy to destroy the
Exons once and for all using a blackhole-powered reality bomb. This wiped out
countless millions of lives, but destroyed the Exon for good.
The defeat of the Exon marked the end of the Cyberwar.
The effects of the Cyberwar are still seen to this day as androids, those that were
left, with true AI are met with discrimination and suspicion. Legislation passed also
prohibited the creation of any new AI models, and the Gnosis Spark was banned
from production.
