Chapter one
Introduction

This report consists of a comprehensive analysis on bosa kito kebele. The site is located in the
area commonly known as ferenj arada. The report is comprised of four major chapters which
closely analyze the existing conditions of the site regarding social, economic and environmental
aspects. More over the report provides a proposal for enhancing the living condition of the
residents of the site through the provision of affordable housing. The typologies which are
proposed consider the three thematic aspects analyzed in the site analysis phase to create a
properly functional living environment for residents.

Based on the above analysis we proposed values to achieve our goals in fulfilling the needs of
the residents of the site regarding the existing social, economic and environmental challenges.
By integrating the three thematic areas we came up with strategies that originated from our
scenarios.

The last phase of the project is the implementation phase which deals with the major actors
who are involved in the implementation, the housing typologies proposed along with the
estimated cost of the project and methods of financing. In addition to that this phase focuses
on the time allocation including the completion time of each stage and the time it takes to fund
the project. The other most significant stage is the spatial phasing process which is concerned
with providing temporary shelter for the relocated residents while the proposed housing is
being constructed. This is done by allocating a temporary space on the site to accommodate the
residents.
