SHARDS OF DIVINITY SETTING AND POWER SYSTEM INFO
Baseline Power Sources
1. Mana: The Threads of Reality
Core Concept:
Mana is the omnipresent energy that binds and weaves the fabric of existence, from
the smallest atom to the vastness of dimensions. It is not just present within
living beings but suffuses every object, location, and even the spaces between
dimensions. Those who can manipulate mana are essentially bending reality to their
will by altering the connections and balances between these threads. Mana is also
the baseline of all paths to power, this is also why it combines with all other
forms of power so efficiently.
How It Works:
Manipulation of Reality: Mana allows the user to create, reshape, or unmake
objects, events, and forces. This could mean conjuring a fireball, creating a
shield of pure force, teleporting across space, or even temporarily altering
gravity in a specific area. However, the more complex the change, the more
concentration, intelligence, and understanding of the underlying threads of
reality are required.
Finite Resource: While Mana exists in everything, an individuals ability to
channel and manipulate it is limited by their mental endurance, focus, and capacity
to interpret the intricate patterns of reality. Overexertion can result in
exhaustion, physical harm, or even insanity.
Attunement: The way a person interacts with Mana depends on their innate
affinity and training. Some are attuned to certain elements (fire, water, earth,
air), others to abstract forces like time, gravity, or light.
Learning and Application: Learning to manipulate Mana is akin to mastering an
advanced science; it requires deep intellectual study and years of meditative
practice. Most mana-users rely on carefully constructed rituals, runes, or tools to
help focus their intent, as direct manipulation without aids is almost impossibly
difficult.
Weaknesses:
Mental Strain: The more one alters reality, the heavier the toll on the mind.
Prolonged use can lead to migraines, hallucinations, and eventual brain damage.
Unpredictability: Poor focus or lack of understanding can cause unintended
consequences, like accidentally warping space or summoning chaotic anomalies.
Applications:
World-altering magics, such as terraforming landscapes or constructing
illusions.
Manipulation of fundamental forces, such as gravity or time.
Creation of magical barriers, weapons, or constructs.
2. Aura: The Power of the Soul
Core Concept:
Aura is a manifestation of the soul, unique to each individual and shaped by their
personality, emotions, and inner nature. It represents the spiritual force that
resides within every living being, and its characteristics reflect who the person
truly isoften revealing things even the individual doesnt consciously know about
themselves. Aura is created through the absorbtion of mana through training,
special breathing techniques or meditation and insertion into the soul, which
transforms it into Aura.
How It Works:
Individual Expression: Each persons Aura manifests in a unique formbe it
blue flames that freeze, a green liquid that corrodes, or golden light that
invigorates. The appearance, texture, and effects of an Aura often symbolize the
wielders personality, life experiences, or emotional core.
Physical and Spiritual Enhancement: Aura can be used to enhance the bodys
strength, speed, and endurance, or it can be channeled into weapons, tools, or
shields for heightened effectiveness. This makes Aura wielders highly versatile in
combat.
Connection to the Soul: Because it is tied to the users soul, their Aura
grows stronger as their understanding of themselves deepens. Vigorous physical and
spiritual training helps refine this power. Similarly, emotional turmoil or self-
doubt can weaken ones Aura.
Soul Resonance: In rare cases, two individuals with complementary Auras can
harmonize their energies, creating devastatingly powerful combinations or even
forging bonds that allow them to share strength.
Weaknesses:
Physical and Emotional Strain: Overuse of Aura can weaken the users body, as
it is tied directly to their vitality. Prolonged exhaustion can even risk damaging
the soul.
Vulnerability to Soul-based Attacks: Aura users are especially susceptible to
powers like Demonic Energy, which can target the soul directly.
Applications:
Aura can be used for personal combat, enhancing punches, kicks, or weapon
strikes.
Defensive uses include creating barriers or cloaking oneself in energy to
reduce damage.
Specialized uses are unique to the individual, such as freezing an enemy in
place with icy Aura or corrupting an area with darkness.
3. Holy Power: The Gift of the Divine
Core Concept:
Holy Power is energy granted by divine beings, such as gods or celestial entities,
to chosen mortals. It is a sacred, life-giving force that embodies the concepts of
purity, protection, and justice. It is both a blessing and a responsibility, as
wielders are expected to uphold the values of their divine patrons. Mana absorbed
by divine beings, or that resides in the Divine Plane for an extended period, is
transformed into Holy Power.
How It Works:
Healing and Restoration: Holy Power is best known for its ability to heal
injuries, purge diseases, and purify corruption. The energy can mend not just flesh
but also the soul, curing emotional and spiritual wounds.
Divine Constructs: Wielders can summon golden weapons, shields, or barriers
made of ethereal energy. These constructs are incredibly durable and can deflect
attacks, even from other magical sources.
Opposition to Evil: Holy Power is especially effective against dark or
corrupt forces, such as Demonic Energy. When wielded with conviction, it can banish
demons, nullify curses, and destroy unholy constructs.
Divine Will: The energy reflects the will of the divine being that granted
it. Wielders of Holy Power often feel their patrons presence guiding them,
providing strength in moments of doubt. Those born with Divine Poweran even purer
form of this energyoften act as vessels of their patrons will.
Weaknesses:
Dependency on Faith: Holy Power requires faith, both in oneself and in the
divine being that grants it. A loss of faith or doubt in the divine weakens ones
connection to the power.
Moral Responsibility: Wielders must use Holy Power responsibly and in
accordance with their patrons values. Misuse or corruption of the power can lead
to divine punishment or severance of the connection.
Limited Offensive Capability: While potent against evil, Holy Power is less
effective against neutral forces or beings that lack corruption.
Applications:
Healing and protection of allies in battle.
Smashing through demonic or dark barriers.
Purifying corrupted areas or banishing malevolent spirits.
4. Demonic Energy: The Flame of Ruin
Core Concept:
Demonic Energy is a destructive and corruptive force originating from the darkest
planes of existence, where malevolent beings known as demons dwell. It is a force
of chaos, driven by destruction and fueled by hatred, fear, and despair. Unlike
other energies, Demonic Energy feeds on the suffering of others and thrives in
environments of decay and ruin. Demonic Energy is created when a demonic being
absorbs mana, or mana resides in the Demonic Plane for too long.
How It Works:
Destruction and Corruption: Demonic Energy can annihilate matter, burn souls,
and decay life. Its touch is often manifested as a black flame, but it can take
other forms, such as shadow tendrils, corrosive mists, or jagged spikes of dark
energy.
Soul Manipulation: The energy has a profound connection to the soul. It can
permanently damage or destroy a persons soul, crippling their ability to use Aura
or other spiritual energies. It can also be used to enslave the souls of the dead,
raising them as undead servants or even binding them into cursed objects.
Unholy Power: Demonic Energy thrives on breaking the natural order. It
corrupts living beings, twisting them into monstrous forms, or curses objects and
places with malevolent auras. Those touched by Demonic Energy often feel their
minds and wills slowly eroded, becoming puppets of the demonic.
Power at a Cost: Mortals can wield Demonic Energy by making a pact with
demons, but the cost is always great. It may require sacrificing ones morality,
sanity, or even soul.
Weaknesses:
Holy Power Vulnerability: Demonic Energy is countered and purified by Holy
Power. A direct clash often ends in annihilation for both energies.
Corruption of the Wielder: Even the strongest-willed mortals are not immune
to the corruptive effects of Demonic Energy. Over time, its use warps the body,
mind, and soul, turning the wielder into something monstrous.
Applications:
Destructive attacks, such as dark flames that burn the soul as well as the
body.
Raising undead servants or binding the souls of the fallen to weapons or
objects.
Corrupting living beings or environments to create chaos and despair.
Interplay Between the Power Sources:
Mana vs. Aura: Mana is external and scientific, while Aura is internal and
personal. A skilled combatant might combine both, manipulating reality with Mana
while using Aura to enhance their physical capabilities.
Holy Power vs. Demonic Energy: These are natural opposites, locked in an
eternal struggle. They cancel each other out when clashing directly.
Mana vs. Divine/Demonic Forces: Mana is neutral and universal, making it
effective at countering both Holy Power and Demonic Energy, though not inherently
aligned with good or evil.
Combined Power Sources
1. Mana + Aura ? Ether
Core Concept:
Ether is the fusion of an individuals soul (Aura) with the universal threads of
reality (Mana). It allows the wielder to manipulate external reality using their
inner energy, making their Aura far more versatile and potent. Rather than simply
being a personal manifestation, the users Aura gains the ability to interact with
the environment and reshape the world on a limited scale.
How It Works:
Reality-bound Aura: With Ether, the users soul energy can bind to the
threads of Mana in the environment, extending the effects of their Aura beyond
their physical body. For instance, a user whose Aura manifests as freezing blue
flames could freeze entire lakes or summon snowstorms by tying their Aura to
surrounding water molecules.
Personalized Reality Manipulation: Ether retains the individuality of Aura
but gains the adaptability of Mana. A users Aura effects can be customized on the
fly (e.g., altering their fire Aura to manipulate heat levels more precisely or
channel it into complex constructs).
Amplified Constructs: Weapons or barriers enhanced with Ether become semi-
permanent creations, lasting longer and capable of interacting with other Mana-
based phenomena.
Improved Spellcasting: Ether, being part mana, can also be used to cast
spells, but due to being controlled through willpower like Aura, it allows casters
to bypass the need for chanting, magic circles or other forms of mana control,
although the spells will often come out weaker if rushed in this manner.
Strengths:
Combines the versatility of Manas reality manipulation with the
individuality and strength enhancement of Aura.
Allows for greater range and creativity in combat and utility applications.
Ties a deeply personal connection (Aura) with external forces (Mana), giving
the wielder a unique mastery over their surroundings.
Weaknesses:
The connection between Aura and Mana requires immense focus and emotional
clarity. Users who lose control of their emotions can destabilize their Ether,
leading to chaotic and uncontrollable effects.
Since Aura is tied to the soul, overuse risks spiritual harm or severance
from Mana entirely, leaving the user weakened.
Applications:
Shaping the battlefield: A user could create massive terrain-altering effects
tied to their Aura, like crystalline forests, volcanic eruptions, or storms.
Enhanced combat techniques: Amplifying weapons or attacks with long-range,
reality-bending effects.
Elemental manipulation: Tying Auras personality-driven elements with Manas
universal forces.
2. Mana + Holy Power ? Holy Mana
Core Concept:
Holy Mana is the blend of divine energy and the threads of reality, creating a
highly versatile power that is uniquely pure, creative, and restorative. It retains
the positive, protective, and healing properties of Holy Power while allowing for
more sophisticated and flexible applications through Mana. Wielders of Holy Mana
are often regarded as saintly figures, capable of shaping the world itself in
accordance with their divine mission.
How It Works:
Purified Creation: Holy Mana excels at creating objects and environments
infused with divine energy. For example, a wielder could use Holy Mana to construct
a sanctuary that heals and protects those inside or forge celestial weapons that
burn with divine light.
Enhanced Healing: The restorative capabilities of Holy Power are amplified by
Mana, allowing for large-scale or complex healing. For instance, a Holy Mana
wielder could heal multiple people at once, restore entire ecosystems, or even
reverse natural disasters.
Sacred Reality Manipulation: Holy Mana gives the user divine authority over
reality itself. This might allow the wielder to create laws in a given area
(e.g., forbidding the use of Demonic Energy), reshape space for protection (e.g.,
raising impenetrable walls of light), or purify corrupted environments on a massive
scale.
Strengths:
Retains the benevolent and defensive nature of Holy Power while adding Manas
adaptability and scale.
Especially effective at countering Demonic Energy and large-scale
destruction.
Creates ethereal constructs or environments that persist longer than typical
Holy Power effects.
Weaknesses:
Overuse of Holy Mana is mentally exhausting, requiring the wielder to balance
focus (Mana) with faith (Holy Power).
The divinely aligned nature of Holy Mana makes it less effective against
neutral forces or entities that lack evil intent.
Requires a strong moral alignment and clarity of purpose to maintain balance
between the two sources.
Applications:
Large-scale blessings, such as sanctifying an entire battlefield or purifying
corrupted lands.
Forging holy artifacts or defensive constructs that persist indefinitely.
Shaping reality into divine symbols or forms, such as transforming a barren
wasteland into a verdant paradise.
3. Mana + Demonic Energy ? Abyssal Mana
Core Concept:
Abyssal Mana combines the raw, destructive force of Demonic Energy with the
precision and versatility of Mana, resulting in a power that can warp reality
itself into a twisted, chaotic form. While devastating and highly flexible, Abyssal
Mana is inherently corruptive, and wielders must constantly battle the temptation
to lose themselves to its chaotic and malevolent nature.
How It Works:
Reality Corruption: Abyssal Mana doesnt just manipulate realityit twists
and defiles it. A wielder can summon unnatural phenomena, such as blackened skies,
rivers of blood, or distorted landscapes that actively harm those who enter them.
Destructive Constructs: Weapons and tools forged from Abyssal Mana are
terrifyingly potent. For example, a wielder might create a scythe that rends both
flesh and soul or a shadowy shield that absorbs attacks and retaliates with pure
destruction.
Soul-Twisting Effects: Demonic Energys soul-corrupting powers gain even
greater reach and subtlety when combined with Mana. A wielder might be able to
curse entire populations, subtly weaken their wills, or bind souls to objects or
environments.
Enhanced Spellcasting: Much like Ether, Holy Mana or any other power combined
with mana, it can be used to cast spells in a deadlier and more efficient manner.
Strengths:
The destructive and corruptive nature of Demonic Energy is amplified by
Manas versatility, creating endless offensive and strategic possibilities.
Highly effective at destabilizing or countering rigid, law-abiding energies,
such as Holy Power or structured Mana constructs.
Allows for large-scale chaos, such as reshaping cities into nightmarish
labyrinths or conjuring apocalyptic storms.
Weaknesses:
The corruptive nature of Demonic Energy becomes even harder to resist when
fused with Mana. Overuse can cause the wielder to lose themselves entirely to the
Abyss.
Abyssal Mana is inherently unstable, and even the most experienced users can
suffer from its chaotic backlash if not carefully controlled.
Holy Power is a direct counter to Abyssal Mana, nullifying its effects and
purifying the corrupted reality it creates.
Applications:
Large-scale destruction, such as collapsing mountains, summoning hellish
landscapes, or creating endless storms of black fire.
Creating cursed objects or environments that weaken or destroy those within
them.
Corrupting reality to turn it against enemies, such as warping gravity,
reversing natural laws, or summoning eldritch abominations.
4. Aura + Holy Power ? Sacred Aura
Core Concept:
Sacred Aura combines the individuality of Aura with the divine purity of Holy
Power, resulting in a deeply personal, yet universally benevolent, force. It
enhances the users physical and spiritual capabilities while granting them the
ability to inspire, protect, and heal others through the light of their soul.
Wielders of Sacred Aura are often seen as paragons of virtue, embodying the ideals
of their divine patron.
How It Works:
Divinely Enhanced Aura: The users Aura gains a radiant, golden quality,
amplifying its effects with the divine power of Holy Energy. For instance, a user
with an ice-based Aura might gain the ability to freeze not just physical matter
but also corruption or demonic entities.
Healing and Strengthening: Sacred Aura retains Auras ability to enhance the
wielders body or weapons, but it adds Holy Powers restorative effects. Strikes
infused with Sacred Aura might heal allies while harming enemies, or weapons could
glow with a protective light that shields allies from harm.
Aura of Inspiration: Sacred Aura radiates divine energy, uplifting and
inspiring those around the wielder. Allies might gain increased strength, courage,
or stamina simply by being near a Sacred Aura user.
Strengths:
Combines the personal combat focus of Aura with the healing and protective
nature of Holy Power.
Highly effective against Demonic Energy and other corrupt forces.
Inspires allies and creates an almost palpable sense of hope in dark times.
Weaknesses:
Requires both physical training (Aura) and spiritual devotion (Holy Power),
making it difficult to master.
Strongly tied to the users morality and emotional claritydoubt or
corruption can weaken Sacred Aura.
Applications:
Enhancing weapons with divine effects, such as creating a sword that burns
with purifying fire or arrows that heal allies they strike.
Inspiring allies in combat, granting them enhanced physical or emotional
resilience.
Purifying corrupted individuals or locations by extending the wielders Aura.
5. Demonic Energy + Aura ? Accursed Aura
Core Concept:
Accursed Aura is the twisted fusion of a persons soul energy (Aura) with the
malevolent and destructive power of Demonic Energy. This creates a deeply personal,
yet horrifyingly corrupt, manifestation of the wielders inner self. Unlike regular
Aura, which reflects a persons personality and emotions in a raw but neutral
state, Accursed Aura amplifies the darkest parts of the users soulresentment,
greed, hatred, and despair. It is a power of corruption, destruction, and
domination, as much a curse as it is a strength.
How It Works:
Twisted Soul Manifestation: Accursed Aura warps the users soul into a
corrupted and destructive force. For instance, an Aura that once manifested as
harmless blue mist might now become choking black smoke that burns the lungs of
those it touches. Another persons gentle green liquid Aura might transform into a
sickly, acidic ichor that corrodes and spreads disease.
Soul-based Corruption: The fusion of Demonic Energy with Aura allows the
wielder to not only attack the body but corrupt and erode the souls of their
enemies. Prolonged exposure to an Accursed Aura can leave victims spiritually
scarred, weakening their ability to access their own Aura or leaving them
vulnerable to further manipulation.
Physical Augmentation: Like regular Aura, Accursed Aura can enhance the
wielders physical strength and abilities. However, these enhancements are far more
brutal and monstrous. For instance, a wielder might grow shadowy claws, horns, or
wings when channeling their Accursed Aura. These enhancements often come at the
cost of the users humanity.
Corruptive Influence: The users Aura now has a passive effect on their
surroundings, spreading despair, fear, or anger to those nearby. For example,
plants might wither, animals might flee, and allies might feel uneasy or even
hostile when close to an Accursed Aura user who has fully embraced their power.
Strengths:
Devastating Offense: Accursed Aura retains the physical and spiritual
enhancements of regular Aura, but it gains the destructive power of Demonic Energy.
The result is a force capable of destroying not only the body but also the mind and
soul.
Corruption Mechanics: The corruptive effects of Demonic Energy mean that
Accursed Aura users can weaken their opponents over time, eroding their ability to
fight back or even forcing them to submit entirely.
Customization: The personalized nature of Aura combined with the malleability
of Demonic Energy allows for unique and terrifying manifestations. One users
Accursed Aura might resemble a burning shadow, while anothers could be spectral
chains that drain life and freedom from their targets.
Soul Domination: By corrupting a persons soul with Accursed Aura, the
wielder could enslave them as a servant or bend their will to their own.
Weaknesses:
Loss of Control: The combination of Demonic Energy and Aura often results in
the wielder losing control over themselves. As the user channels more power, their
soul becomes increasingly corrupted, and they risk succumbing to the very energy
they wield. This could result in physical mutations, mental instability, or even
full possession by a demonic entity.
Weakened Relationships: Accursed Aura corrupts and taints the users soul,
making them emotionally and spiritually distant from others. Even allies might find
themselves mistrusting or fearing the user over time.
Vulnerability to Holy Power: As with all Demonic Energy-based powers,
Accursed Aura is highly susceptible to purification by Holy Power. A powerful
wielder of Holy Power could cleanse or destroy the corrupted soul, potentially
killing the user or severing their ability to use Aura entirely.
Soul Burnout: Overuse of Accursed Aura can drain the users life force
rapidly, as it feeds directly on their soul. If not carefully managed, this can
leave the wielder spiritually crippled or even destroy their soul entirely
Applications:
Corruptive Combat: Use Accursed Aura to enhance attacks with soul-damaging
effects. For example, a sword strike enhanced by Accursed Aura might leave a cursed
wound that festers over time, weakening the enemy physically and spiritually.
Terrifying Presence: The passive effects of Accursed Aura can create an
overwhelming aura of fear, weakening the resolve of enemies or even causing them to
turn on one another.
Soul Manipulation: Directly attack, corrupt, or enslave the souls of others.
For example, binding the soul of a fallen enemy to ones weapon to grant it greater
power or animating the dead as monstrous thralls.
Monstrous Transformations: Accursed Aura can grant the user demonic physical
augmentations, such as clawed hands, wings, or tails, making them a terrifying
force in close combat.
Proficiency Levels: A Framework
Each proficiency level applies universally to the primary power sources (Mana,
Aura, Holy Power, Demonic Energy) as well as their subdivisions (e.g., schools of
magic, healing, elemental control, soul manipulation, etc.). Progression through
these levels represents a combination of technical mastery, experience, and ones
ability to wield their chosen power.
The Tier System of Power Proficiency
Power in the world is measured across nine ascending tiers, each representing not
just strength, but also control, understanding, and transcendence of ones chosen
path. Progress is not lineareach tier demands more exponential growth than the
last, and advancing past Journeyman is exceedingly rare. More than 95% of all
practitioners, regardless of effort, plateau at or before this point.
Subdivisions: Each tier can be further described as Low, Mid, High, or Peak,
offering more granularity within a practitioners current stage.
1. Initiate Tier
Definition: The starting point. The individual has only just awakened to their
potentialeither through formal introduction, emotional trigger, or inherited
spark.
Capabilities: Barely functional power use. Unable to apply abilities in any
practical or consistent way. Any success is incidental.
Training Focus: Learning terminology, accessing the power source, basic
techniques.
Social Standing: Considered untrained and insignificant. Most never leave
this stage.
Risk: Mishandling their power often results in self-injury or total failure.
2. Novice Tier
Definition: The user can now consciously access and apply their abilities, but
lacks consistency, stamina, and control.
Capabilities: Minor effects, low power output, easily exhausted. Still relies
heavily on instruction or supervision.
Training Focus: Repetition, refinement, and safety. Often uses simplified
forms, spells, or exercises.
Social Standing: Recognized as a trainee or amateur.
Progression: With steady instruction, most will advance from Novice to
Apprentice over timethough many plateau here due to lack of discipline or
aptitude.
3. Apprentice Tier
Definition: The user can now apply their powers deliberately in controlled settings
and minor real-world contexts.
Capabilities: Basic spells, aura strikes, blessings, or transformations.
Still lacks adaptability or improvisation.
Training Focus: Practical application and broadening the toolset.
Social Standing: A legitimate practitioner in training. May be assigned to a
mentor or instructor.
Common Peak: Many dedicated commoners reach this level after years of
training. Considered competent but replaceable.
4. Journeyman Tier
Definition: The user is now fully functional in their path, capable of surviving
hostile situations and adapting to varied conditions.
Capabilities: Can fight, heal, or cast proficiently in low- to mid-stakes
scenarios. Possesses a toolkit of techniques, strategies, or spells.
Training Focus: Sharpening techniques, field experience, deepening one's
personal style or philosophy.
Social Standing: Respected tradesperson-level power. Town guards, minor
clergy, battlefield supportthis is their peak.
Statistical Truth: Over 95% of the population will never advance past
Journeyman, no matter how hard they train.
5. Adept Tier
Definition: The user's power deepens qualitatively. They no longer rely solely on
learned formsthey begin to internalize power, innovating and refining it to their
will.
Capabilities: Greater output, seamless transitions, hybridized techniques.
Can defeat most Journeymen even when outnumbered.
Training Focus: Self-driven refinement. Training becomes individual and
esotericformulas no longer apply.
Social Standing: Recognized as gifted. Often sought after as elite
professionals, regional champions, or specialist operatives.
Threshold of Talent: Reaching Adept marks a divergence from the majority of
humanity. Raw talent, powerful lineage, or great teachers are often needed
6. Expert Tier
Definition: The user becomes a force. Their power bends the environment, changes
battles, or commands fear/respect.
Capabilities: Advanced control of hybrid techniques, massive output, high
battlefield awareness. Can counter groups of lower tiers with ease.
Training Focus: Integration of multiple disciplines, experimentation, mental
fortitude, and psychological warfare.
Social Standing: Known by name. Trusted with command, entrusted with
national-level problems.
Rarity: Roughly 1 in 10,000 serious practitioners reach this level. It marks
a figure of true importance on any stage.
7. Master Tier
Definition: Power at this level ceases to be reactive. It becomes proactive,
absolute, and uniquely expressive. Master-tier users are no longer just
practitionersthey are authors of reality within their discipline.
Capabilities: Near-instant execution, complete stability, overwhelming force.
Can create custom spells, techniques, or soul-forms. Can hold their own against
other Master-tier foes or groups of Experts.
Training Focus: Often philosophical or spiritual. Self-perfection. True
understanding of their Paths essence.
Social Standing: Known throughout regions, feared or revered. Major political
powers keep close tabs on Master-tier individuals.
Rarity: Fewer than 0.01% of the population can reach Master tier. Even among
prodigies, this is a ceiling very few ever breach.
8. Grandmaster Tier
Definition: Power reshapes the battlefield before the fight begins. Grandmasters
don't use a systemthey embody it. Every action has weight and consequence across
domains.
Capabilities: Territory-wide influence. Can affect weather, terrain, minds,
and souls with their presence. Abilities often become metaphysical or symbolic.
Training Focus: Legacy, scale, and alignment. Often delves into forbidden
knowledge or divine insight.
Social Standing: Walking myths. Their existence can define the fate of a
kingdom, religion, or war. Often feared by nations, respected by gods.
Narrative Role: Endgame threats, divine champions, or legendary mentors.
9. Heroic Tier
Definition: Not a level attained by training alone, but by a convergence of
history, identity, and destiny. Heroic-tier individuals embody the archetype of the
worlds greatest legends. They are the catalysts of eras.
Capabilities: Can bend the laws of magic, life, death, or time itselfthough
not without consequence. Often wield unique, reality-altering powers that transcend
normal systems.
Nature: Most are born during times of great upheaval or called into being by
prophecy, divine will, or cataclysm.
Social Standing: Often feared or worshipped. Some vanish from public view
entirely; others are rulers, saints, or destroyers.
Rarity: Functionally unique per generation. Fewer than a handful may exist at
a time in the entire world.
Philosophical Truth: Heroic-tier beings are not defined by strength alone,
but by impact. The world changes when they act.
Proficiency Across Subdivisions
Since powers like Mana and Holy Power are subdivided (e.g., schools of magic,
healing, or combat), proficiency in one subdivision doesnt guarantee equal
proficiency in others. For instance:
A Grandmaster Evoker may only be an Apprentice Enchanter or Journeyman
Conjurer, depending on their training.
Specialized users might focus on one area (e.g., healing with Holy Power)
while neglecting others (e.g., offensive or protective holy techniques).
The Hidden Truths of Power: Beyond Heroic
As power ascends beyond mortal comprehension, the Demi-God and God levels represent
thresholds where individuals begin to transcend mortality entirely. These secrets,
known only to a select few Heroic-level beings across the Mortal Plane, define the
ultimate limitations of mortals and the true nature of divinity. Below is an
explanation of these legendary levels and their implications for your world.
1. Demi-God The Bridge Between Mortals and Divinity
Overview:
The level of Demi-God exists as a bridge between mortal limits and divine
ascension. Demi-Gods are individuals whose souls have been imbued with such
overwhelming powerwhether through a direct blessing from a God, an extraordinary
connection to a primal force, or sheer mastery over their essencethat they begin
to exhibit traits of the divine. Demi-Gods are not only capable of reshaping
reality on a vast scale but also hold influence over concepts, domains, or elements
associated with their power.
Demi-Gods, however, remain tethered to the Mortal Plane, with their actions limited
by the constraints of their mortal origins. No mortal, even at this level, has
achieved full Godhood.
Known Demi-Gods:
The Natures Avatar Grandma Iris????Identity: A halfling grandmother, known to
most as Grandma Iris, lives in an unassuming, flower-covered cottage on the
outskirts of a quiet forest. To the outside world, she is simply a kind, elderly
woman who bakes pies, grows herbs, and tells bedtime stories. But the truth is that
she is Natures Avatar, a being who embodies the will of the Goddess of Nature
herself.
Abilities:
Absolute control over plants, animals, weather, and ecosystems. She can make
entire forests grow in seconds or calm a raging storm with a single word.
Immortality and agelessness, her body forever preserved by the Goddesss
essence.
She can manifest the Nature Goddesss will directly, her eyes glowing green
and her presence radiating divine power, though she only does this in the gravest
of circumstances.
Personality:
Iris is kind, nurturing, and humble. She has no desire to rule or fight but
will act decisively to protect the natural balance if threatened. Most
peopleincluding some Heroic-level individualshave no idea of her true nature, and
she prefers it that way.
Traits of a Demi-God:
1. Conceptual Power: Demi-Gods gain influence over a domain or concept, such as
nature, time, war, or magic. This influence allows them to reshape reality within
their domain. For instance, a Demi-God of fire could extinguish or ignite all
flames across an entire region with a thought.
2. Immense Aura and Mana: Their Aura or Mana transcends normal limitations,
affecting not just their surroundings but entire regions or ecosystems. Their
Domains extend beyond their bodies, like miniature planes of existence tied to
their will.
3. Ties to Divinity: Demi-Gods typically hold a connection to a specific deity,
primal force, or cosmic entity. They often act as avatars, champions, or
intermediaries for these greater powers.
Weaknesses of Demi-Gods:
Tethered to the Mortal Plane: While vastly powerful, Demi-Gods remain bound
to the Mortal Plane and the limitations of their mortal origins. Unlike true Gods,
they cannot fully transcend the material world.
Dependent on their Domain: Their power is tied to their concept or domain.
While they are nearly invincible within their domain, they are more vulnerable
outside of it.
 Rare and Isolated: Reaching Demi-Godhood is almost impossible for mortals;
only one known mortal (Grandma Iris) has achieved this status in the Mortal Plane.
Many Heroic individuals have tried and failed, often burning out their souls in the
process.
2. God The Pinnacle of Power, the Unattainable Goal
Overview:
Gods represent absolute power, beings of pure energy, divinity, and conceptual
will. They exist beyond the Mortal Plane, residing in the Divine Plane or Demonic
Plane, shaping the fabric of reality itself. Gods are not bound by physical form,
mortality, or the rules of time and space. No mortal has ever achieved this level,
and to even approach it is considered a violation of the natural order.
Gods are beings of pure conceptthey do not control aspects of reality; they are
those aspects. For example, the Goddess of Nature is not simply a master of forests
and wildlifeshe embodies nature itself. Were she to vanish, all natural ecosystems
across the planes would collapse into chaos.
Traits of a God:
1. Total Conceptual Dominion:
Gods do not merely manipulate their domains; they are their domains. A God of
Death, for instance, governs the flow of all souls, ensures the balance of life and
death, and can summon or destroy the undead across all realms with no limitations.
Gods have no equal within their domains. Even Demi-Gods fall far short of the full
conceptual control wielded by a God.
2. Plane Transcendence:
Gods are not bound to a single realm or plane. They exist simultaneously in the
Divine Plane, Demonic Plane, and Mortal Plane, though their power is most
concentrated in the Divine or Demonic Planes. They can project avatars into the
Mortal Plane or act through mortal champions.
3. Infinite Power and Immortality:
Gods cannot be killed in a conventional sense. Their existence is tied to the flow
of reality itself, and even if destroyed, they can reform as long as their
concept or domain remains intact.
Why Mortals Cannot Become Gods:
Soul Limitations: A mortal soul, no matter how powerful, is finite. Reaching
the Demi-God level pushes a soul to its absolute limit. To become a God, ones soul
would need to transcend entirely, ceasing to exist as a mortal being and becoming a
force of reality itself.
Divine Will: The Gods actively prevent mortals from reaching their level of
existence. The balance of the planes depends on the hierarchy between Gods, Demi-
Gods, and mortals. A mortal achieving Godhood could destabilize the entire system.
Mortal Fragility: Even the Heroic or Demi-God levels carry a toll on mortals.
Attempting to ascend further often results in the destruction of the individual,
with their soul scattering into nothingness.
The Cosmic Ladder of Power
To summarize the levels of power from mortal to divine:
1. Heroic: The pinnacle of mortal achievement. Individuals at this level
reshape nations, lead armies, and battle demons or angels as equals. However, they
are still limited by their mortality.
2. Demi-God: The next step, attainable only by one or two mortals across all
existence. These individuals begin to transcend mortality, wielding near-divine
power over their domains, but remain tethered to the Mortal Plane and their
limitations.
3. God: Absolute beings of infinite power, entirely unattainable by mortals.
Gods define the fabric of reality and are the forces that govern life, death,
nature, and magic across all planes.
Manacraft: The Use of Mana
Manacraft, as both a science and an art, can be divided into schools of effects,
each representing a different discipline of mana manipulation. These schools are
based on the underlying principles of how mana interacts with the world and the
wielders intent. By categorizing Manacraft into schools, practitioners can
specialize in specific types of magic, advancing their craft through rigorous study
and experimentation. Below is a proposed framework for these schools of effects:
1. Evocation The School of Manifestation
Core Principle:
Creating and manipulating energy or forces directly through mana. Evocation is the
most primal and destructive school, focusing on shaping raw mana into tangible
energy or elemental effects. Its ideal for offensive magic, such as hurling
fireballs or summoning bolts of lightning.
Common Techniques:
Fire, ice, lightning, and wind blasts.
Summoning pure energy (e.g., mana beams, explosions).
Manipulating kinetic energy (e.g., shockwaves or force fields).
Strengths:
Quick, destructive, and straightforward.
Weaknesses:
Lacks subtlety and consumes large amounts of mana.
2. Alteration The School of Transformation
Core Principle:
Changing the properties or composition of objects, energy, or the environment.
Alteration allows the wielder to transmute materials, modify their own body, or
shift environmental states (e.g., turning water into ice or changing air into
poison).
Common Techniques:
Alchemy and transmutation (e.g., turning lead into gold).
Physical enhancement (e.g., making the body faster, stronger, or tougher).
Environmental changes (e.g., turning a desert into fertile land).
Strengths:
Highly versatile and creative.
Weaknesses:
Requires deep knowledge of the targets properties and complex calculations.
Mistakes can be catastrophic.
3. Conjuration The School of Creation and Summoning
Core Principle:
Manifesting physical objects, creatures, or constructs from mana or another plane.
Conjuration focuses on bringing things into existence, whether they are temporary
or permanent, or calling existing entities from other realms.
Common Techniques:
Summoning creatures or entities (e.g., golems, elementals, or even spirits).
Creating objects (e.g., weapons, food, or tools).
 Teleportation (of oneself or others).
Strengths:
Offers immense utility, from creating allies to escaping danger.
Weaknesses:
Summoned beings require constant mana to sustain or control. Overconjuration can
exhaust the wielder quickly.
4. Enchantment The School of Imbuement
Core Principle:
Imbuing objects, places, or people with mana to grant them new properties or
enhance their existing qualities. Enchantment is often used for crafting magical
tools, weapons, and artifacts, or empowering others with temporary buffs.
Common Techniques:
Imbuing weapons with elemental or mystical effects (e.g., a sword that burns
with fire).
Crafting magical artifacts (e.g., rings, amulets, wands).
Bestowing temporary blessings (e.g., increased strength or protection).
Strengths:
Allows for long-lasting effects and utility.
Weaknesses:
Imbuement takes time and precision; failure can render objects unstable or
dangerous.
5. Abjuration The School of Protection and Defense
Core Principle:
Shielding oneself, others, or areas from harm using mana. Abjuration focuses on
defensive magic, neutralizing threats, and preventing damage from occurring.
Common Techniques:
Creating barriers or shields (physical or magical).
 Dispelling hostile magic or curses.
Warding areas (e.g., creating zones immune to Demonic Energy or hostile
mana).
Strengths:
Exceptional for maintaining control and safety in battle or during rituals.
Weaknesses:
Lacks offensive capabilities and requires constant vigilance.
6. Divination The School of Knowledge and Perception
Core Principle:
Using mana to gain insight into the present, past, or future, or to perceive the
hidden. Divination is the art of uncovering truths, reading the flow of mana, or
detecting forces and entities unseen to the naked eye.
Common Techniques:
Clairvoyance and scrying (e.g., seeing distant places or events).
 Detecting magical or spiritual presences.
 Future sight and probability analysis.
Strengths:
Grants unparalleled knowledge and strategic advantage.
Weaknesses:
Often lacks immediate combat utility and relies on interpretation of vague or
symbolic visions.
7. Illusion The School of Deception
Core Principle:
Creating false perceptions or manipulating senses using mana. Illusion magic excels
at crafting realistic or abstract sensory effects to confuse, mislead, or frighten.
Common Techniques:
Crafting realistic illusions (e.g., decoys, environmental disguises).
Obscuring the wielders presence (e.g., invisibility or camouflage).
Mind manipulation (e.g., fear, hallucinations, or confusion).
Strengths:
Creates opportunities to outwit opponents or avoid confrontation entirely.
Weaknesses:
Illusions do not cause real damage; if detected, they lose their effectiveness.
8. Chronomancy The School of Time Manipulation
Core Principle:
Using mana to influence the flow of time. Chronomancy is one of the rarest and most
dangerous schools, allowing practitioners to slow, speed up, or rewind time on
small scales.
Common Techniques:
Accelerating or freezing movement for brief periods.
Rewinding minor events (e.g., reversing the breakage of an object).
Observing or manipulating past and future timelines.
Strengths:
Grants a massive tactical advantage through time control.
Weaknesses:
Incredibly mana-intensive and often risky. Prolonged use can destabilize reality or
harm the wielder.
9. Thaumaturgy The School of Mana Manipulation
Core Principle:
Manipulating raw mana itself, either as a fuel source or as a pure force.
Thaumaturgy focuses on mana at its most fundamental level, allowing the wielder to
amplify spells from other schools, control mana flows, or disrupt the spells of
others.
Common Techniques:
Mana amplification (e.g., enhancing the effects of other spells).
Mana disruption (e.g., nullifying or stealing the mana of opponents).
Drawing mana from the environment or Leylines.
Strengths:
Highly flexible and can enhance or counteract other magical effects.
Weaknesses:
Requires expertise in mana theory and offers little direct combat utility.
Spirit Magic: The Art of Communion
Spirit Magic is a rare, instinctive form of magic rooted in direct communion with
Spirits, beings of pure, self-aware mana. Unlike traditional Magecraftwhich relies
on symbols, formulas, and structured incantationsSpirit Magic bypasses all
intermediaries. It is intuitive, relational, and dangerous.
While all mages manipulate mana, only those with an exceptional affinity for mana
itself can begin to perceive Spirits. These individuals are often born with a
natural resonance or cultivate it through deep meditative or emotional thresholds.
Spirits remain invisible to the average person, though those who follow other power
paths may glimpse them at Grandmaster level or higher due to their mana-
sensitivity.
1. The Nature of Spirits
Spirits are semi-sentient embodiments of mana, taking form based on one of three
archetypes:
1. Elemental Spirits The most common. Fire, water, air, earth, lightning,
ice, etc.
2. Conceptual Spirits Rarer. Manifestations of abstract laws: gravity, time,
space, decay, velocity, stasis.
3. Exotic Spirits Rarest of all. Formed from alternative mana types such as:
? Demonic Spirits Formed from corrupted or will-driven mana
? Divine Spirits Formed from faith-bound or sacred mana
? Hybrid Spirits Mixed aspects, often unstable or unique.
Spirits are born naturally from mana concentrations, world events, or even strong
human emotions. They exist parallel to physical reality but do not interact with it
unless bonded or summoned.
2. Perception and Contracting
Only those with deep mana sensitivity and fine control can perceive spirits. Once
perceived, a Spirit can be approached, but it is not passive. Spirits are beings
with will, and interaction depends on:
Compatibility: Emotional, elemental, or philosophical alignment
 Approach: Diplomacy, respect, or domination
Mana Resonance: Whether the human can safely sustain a Spirits appetite
To use a Spirit in battle or magic, the mage must form a Spirit Contracta
metaphysical bond that links the mages mana pool to the Spirits essence.
Contracted Spirits can be summoned at will, casting spells independently using
their summoners mana. No chant. No circle. Just intent and bond.
3. Spirit Mages vs Traditional Mages
Magecraft Users
Spirit Mages
Use magic circles, chants, structured spells
Use no chant or structureSpirits cast for them
External control over mana
Internal resonance with mana
Power scales with intellect and training
Power scales with bond strength and spirit rank
Can have 12 minor Spirits for support
Form multiple deep contracts, rely heavily on Spirits
Mechanical, calculated
Organic, relational, often emotional
Most high-level mages may form occasional utility contracts, but true Spirit Mages
form deep bonds with multiple Spirits, often centering their fighting style or
philosophy around their spiritual allies.
4. The Spirit Hierarchy
Spirit strength is measured on a distinct scale from humans, though rough
equivalents exist across the Tier System:
Spirit Rank
Human Equivalent
Description
Infant
Novice ? Apprentice
Weak, recently born Spirits. Can produce minor elemental effects. Very common.
Lesser
Journeyman
Capable of basic combat. Common combat spirits for casual use or utility.
Intermediate
Adept
Reliable combat partners. Capable of sustained elemental casting and moderate
conceptual influence.
Greater
Expert
True partners in battle. Possess high mana demands and complex personalities.
Noble
Master
Rare and prideful. Can alter localized reality or embody concepts fully. Often
refuse contracts with unworthy hosts.
Monarch
Grandmaster
Legendary spirits. Have followers of their own. Summoning one permanently alters
local mana. May only make one contract in their entire existence.
Emperor
Heroic
World-tier entities. Often indistinguishable from elemental gods. Their appearance
rewrites natural laws in the area. Contracting one is a myth spoken in fearful awe.
Note: The majority of Spirits in the world are Infant to Intermediate rank, just as
the majority of mages peak at Journeyman.
5. Power Dynamics and Combat Implications
A Journeyman Spirit Mage with a Greater Spirit can outclass most Expert
Magecrafters.
Spirit Mages with multiple Intermediate spirits can rotate them tactically,
covering weaknesses or switching elemental control mid-combat.
Bond Strength can enhance a Spirit beyond its rankfor example, a deeply
bonded Intermediate Spirit might fight on par with a Lesser Noble under certain
conditions.
Overfeeding a Spirit (providing it with more mana than it can handle) can
cause mutation, potentially creating a Hybrid or Exotic evolution.
6. Social Perception and Role
Spirit Mages are often seen as eccentric or unpredictable due to their bond-
based magic style.
Spirits may act independently, leading to strange battlefield dynamics or
complications in urban environments.
Spirit Mages are respected, feared, or dismissed depending on cultural
regionsome nations consider them divine emissaries, others see them as dangerous
anomalies.
The Aura Path: Tier Hallmarks and Their Meaning
Aura is the manifestation of ones vitality, intent, and spirit in physical form.
While it can enhance the body and weapons, mastery of Aura is also mastery of the
selfof will, focus, and unshakable purpose. As one ascends the Tiers, their Aura
becomes less an extension of the body and more an extension of identity.
Initiate
Function: Can momentarily enhance a single body part (e.g., fist, leg, eyes).
Aura State: Fully internalized. No external presence.
Training Focus: Awakening and controlling ones life force through breathing,
meditation, and body awareness.
Novice
Function: Can enhance a single body part for extended periods.
Aura State: Still fully internal, but beginning to flow more freely through
the body.
Training Focus: Stamina, flow, breathing techniques, and emotional
regulation.
Apprentice
Function: Can now enhance the entire body at once for longer durations.
Aura State: Mostly internal; faint sparks or wisps may appear under strain.
Training Focus: Synchronizing breath, movement, and emotion to harmonize the
full body.
Journeyman
Function: First projection of Aura beyond the body (short range); can now
enhance weapons and armor with basic Aura infusion.
Aura State: Can now coat objects and project outward within arms reach.
Training Focus: Weapon resonance, projection control, shaping intent outside
the self.
Adept
Function: Aura can now be projected at mid-to-long range in simple forms
(e.g., slashes, thrusts).
Aura State: Aura gains velocity and directionality. Becomes visible as
trails, arcs, or flares.
Training Focus: Precision strikes, external control, channeling Aura through
motion and momentum.
Expert
Function: Long-range Aura slashes can now bend, twist, or split mid-flight.
Control becomes dynamic, reflexive.
Aura State: Aura becomes a second limbhighly responsive, fluid, and
dangerous.
Training Focus: Real-time manipulation, battle awareness, adaptive
projection.
Master
Function: Can create Aura Constructsweapons, armor, tools made of pure Aura.
These possess perfect conductivity, respond to thought, and can outperform any
physical equivalent.
Aura State: Condensed, physicalized Aura. Semi-tangible. Highly reactive to
user emotion and intent.
Training Focus: Construct complexity, shaping through visualization, dual-
form combat.
Grandmaster
Function: Can manifest an Egoa personal, symbolic Aura manifestation (wings,
crown, halo, armor, shadow form, etc.). Alters battlefield: users Aura
strengthens; other powers are suppressed within range.
Aura State: Transcendent. Gains identity. Has metaphysical weight.
Training Focus: Ego expression, battlefield shaping, anti-magic suppression,
psychological dominance.
Heroic
Function: Can create a Domaina region (from several meters to a battlefield-
wide area) shaped entirely by will. Within it:
? Ego effects grow stronger the closer one gets to the user.
? Aura manipulation is instant, omnidirectional, and can bypass the
physical body entirely (Aura drawn directly from the soul).
? Reality bends toward the users vision: weight, speed, space, and even
intent shift to favor them.
Aura State: Divine. The border between user and world disappears inside the
Domain.
Training Focus: Domain expansion vs concentration, soul stability,
battlefield rewriting, overwhelming presence.
The Multiverse
The Three Major Planes
The Divine Plane The Realm of Light and Order
The Divine Plane is the sacred domain of the Gods, a realm of untainted light,
purity, and ultimate order. It exists as a higher-dimensional space, removed from
the imperfections of the Mortal Plane. Time, space, and physical laws function
differently hereeverything is fluid, shaped by the will of the Gods and the
boundless energy of Holy Power.
Key Features:
Celestial Architecture:
The Divine Plane is a realm of unfathomable beauty, where radiant golden cities
float upon luminous clouds, crystalline rivers of light flow endlessly, and grand
towers pierce the heavens. It is a place of eternal serenity, untouched by chaos or
decay.
Holy Powers Origin:
Holy Power flows directly from this realm, generated by the Gods themselves. It
suffuses the Divine Plane, giving all things here an ethereal, indestructible
quality. Mortal wielders of Holy Power are essentially borrowing fragments of this
divine energy.
Gods and Their Hierarchies:
The Gods rule over this plane, each governing an aspect of existence (e.g., life,
death, time, war, justice, etc.).
Angels: These beings are extensions of a Gods will, acting as messengers,
protectors, and enforcers. Angels are not individuals in the mortal sense; they are
pure beings of Holy Power, often formless but capable of taking radiant humanoid
shapes.
Archangels: Higher-ranking servants of the Gods, Archangels are immensely
powerful entities with distinct personalities and divine mandates. They act as
generals of the Divine Plane, leading armies of Angels or intervening in mortal
affairs on behalf of their Gods.
Role in the Mortal World:
The Divine Plane is viewed as the ultimate afterlife for mortals who achieve
spiritual perfection or gain the favor of the Gods. Mortals blessed with Divine
Power are often seen as chosen vessels of the Gods, destined to carry out their
will in the Mortal Plane.
The Divine Plane actively opposes the influence of the Demonic Plane, and conflicts
between Angels and Demons often spill over into the Mortal Plane.
Connection to the Mortal Plane:
Portals and Summonings: Direct travel between the Divine Plane and Mortal
Plane is rare and requires monumental effort, often through divine rituals or the
intervention of Archangels. However, minor conduits exist through blessings, holy
artifacts, or sites of intense divine energy (e.g., sacred temples).
Worship: The Gods draw power from the prayers and faith of mortals, further
tying the two planes together. Mortal worship often aligns with specific Gods,
whose influence strengthens in areas where they are venerated.
The Demonic Plane The Abyss of Chaos and Destruction
The Demonic Plane is the antithesis of the Divine Plane, a chaotic, hostile
dimension brimming with corruption, decay, and Demonic Energy. Unlike the Divine
Plane, which embodies order and purity, the Demonic Plane is a realm of endless
conflict, ambition, and destruction.
Key Features:
A Chaotic Landscape:
The Demonic Plane is a twisted, ever-changing realm. Its skies churn with dark
clouds and red lightning, its ground is cracked and molten, and rivers of black
fire or toxic blood flow through jagged mountains and ruined cities.
Its appearance warps constantly to reflect the wills of the Demonic Gods and Demon
Kings, making it a nightmare to traverse for mortals or unprepared demons.
Source of Demonic Energy:
Demonic Energy flows abundantly here, fueling the power of the Demonic Gods, Demon
Kings, and their lesser minions. It saturates the environment, making even the air
itself corrosive to those not aligned with it.
Hierarchies of Evil:
The Demonic Plane is home to countless beings, each vying for power and dominance.
Its hierarchy is a brutal, cutthroat system of survival of the fittest:
Demonic Gods: Ancient and godlike beings that embody destruction, chaos, or
corruption. Each governs a domain of sin or ruin and commands the highest authority
in the Demonic Plane.
Demon Kings: The most powerful demonic warlords, each ruling vast territories
or armies. Unlike the Demonic Gods, they were once mortals or lesser demons who
ascended to their position through unimaginable strength or cunning.
Demons: A wide variety of beings, ranging from mindless imps and beasts to
cunning, intelligent archdemons. Their forms vary wildly, reflecting their nature
or the whims of their creators.
Role in the Mortal World:
The Demonic Plane seeks to corrupt and destroy the Mortal Plane, feeding on mortal
souls to fuel its power. Demons often infiltrate the Mortal Plane through summoning
rituals, breaches, or possession, spreading chaos and destruction.
Mortal practitioners of Demonic Energy often make pacts with demons, exchanging
their soul or humanity for immense power. These individuals serve as conduits for
the Demonic Planes influence.
Connection to the Mortal Plane:
Rifts and Breaches: While the Divine Plane relies on mortals faith to
connect with the Mortal Plane, the Demonic Plane actively seeks to invade it. Rifts
or breaches can occur naturally in areas of great despair, war, or corruption,
creating a gateway for demons to pour through.
Temptation: Demonic beings often tempt mortals with promises of power,
immortality, or revenge, luring them into servitude. Corrupted mortals or cursed
artifacts serve as beacons for the Demonic Planes influence.
The Mortal Plane The Realm of Balance and Struggle
The Mortal Plane is the centerpiece of existence, a vast and diverse world where
life thrives but is also vulnerable to the influences of the Divine and Demonic
Planes. It is the battlefield of choice for the forces of light and darkness, as
well as the birthplace of the vast majority of mortal souls.
Key Features:
Diverse Biomes and Cultures:
The Mortal Plane is a world of immense variety, with vast continents, oceans,
mountain ranges, deserts, forests, and more. Its inhabitants include humans, elves,
dwarves, beastfolk, and other intelligent races, each with their own cultures,
religions, and histories.
Center of Conflict:
The Mortal Plane is where the Divine and Demonic Planes vie for control, as neither
can directly conquer the other without mortal intervention. Mortals wield Mana,
Aura, Holy Power, and Demonic Energy, making them unpredictable wildcards in the
eternal struggle.
Birthplace of the Soul:
Mortals are unique in their ability to generate soulsa resource coveted by both
the Divine and Demonic Planes. Souls are tied to Aura, giving mortals the potential
to reach incredible heights of power and even challenge beings from other planes.
Divine vs. Demonic Influence:
Certain regions of the Mortal Plane are strongly aligned with the Divine Plane,
home to sacred temples, holy relics, and devout worshippers who channel Holy Power.
These regions are bastions of hope and order, protected by mortal champions of the
Gods.
Other regions have fallen to the Demonic Plane, corrupted into blighted wastelands
or dark strongholds ruled by warlocks, necromancers, and demons.
Neutrality and Struggle:
Much of the Mortal Plane is neutral, caught in the crossfire between divine and
demonic forces. Mortals here must choose their paths, balancing survival with
morality, ambition, or faith.
The Hidden Multiverse: The Truth of the Mortal Planes
Overview:
The Mortal Plane, for all its perceived grandeur and significance to its
inhabitants, is merely one among millions, a single speck in the vast tapestry of
existence. This revelation, known only to Demi-Gods, Gods, and select entities of
similar stature, completely reframes the role of the Mortal Plane in the cosmic
hierarchy. While mortals see their world as the center of creation, to the Gods, it
is just one of countless worlds, each teeming with its own unique life, struggles,
and stories.
This truth reveals not only the staggering scale of the cosmos but also the
indifference of the Gods toward any single Mortal Plane. To them, these worlds are
like fields of wheatsources of life, energy, and souls that feed the mechanisms of
existence but are ultimately interchangeable and expendable.
The Multiverse Structure:
The Web of Mortal Planes:
The Mortal Plane is not a singular entity but one node in a vast multiversal
web. Each Mortal Plane is separate and self-contained, with its own geography,
races, histories, and conflicts, but they all share the same fundamental connection
to the Divine Plane and Demonic Plane.
These planes are like pearls on an infinite string, with each Mortal Plane
connected to the higher planes through Leyline Threads, Dimensional Pathways, or
other metaphysical links.
Connections to the Divine and Demonic Planes:
Both the Divine Plane and Demonic Plane exist as higher-dimensional hubs
that touch every Mortal Plane. These planes act as anchors or roots, feeding power,
influence, and souls into the Mortal Planes.
Holy Power and Demonic Energy flow from these higher planes into the Mortal
Planes through spiritual conduits. Mortals with the ability to access these
energies are essentially tapping into a larger, multiversal reservoir of divine
or demonic essence.
Battles between angels and demons often spill across multiple Mortal Planes
simultaneously, with mortals on each world only seeing a fragment of the larger
war.
Infinite Variation:
Each Mortal Plane is different, with unique laws of physics, forms of life,
and power systems. Some may have worlds dominated by magic, others driven by
technology, or even planes that are entirely barren and lifeless.
Despite this variation, the fundamental mechanics of the cosmossouls, Aura,
Mana, Holy Power, and Demonic Energyexist universally in some form.
Why the Gods Are Indifferent to a Single Mortal Plane:
The Scale of Creation:
To the Gods, the Mortal Planes are limitless. The destruction of one Mortal
Plane is no more significant to them than the loss of a single grain of sand from a
beach. Souls from one destroyed plane will be redirected into the cosmic cycle,
ensuring that energy flows uninterrupted.
Even mortals who achieve greatness, such as Heroic or Demi-God individuals,
are still fleeting sparks compared to the eternal power of the Divine Plane.
The Purpose of Mortal Planes:
The Mortal Planes exist primarily as sources of energy and souls to fuel the
higher planes. Mortals live, die, and reincarnate in a never-ending cycle, with
their souls flowing upward to the Divine Plane or being consumed by the Demonic
Plane.
Mortal worship strengthens the Gods, while mortal corruption strengthens the
Demons. This makes Mortal Planes valuable to the higher planes but not
irreplaceable.
Detachment:
Most Gods see individual Mortal Planes as beneath their notice. They
intervene only when something threatens their domain or disrupts the balance
between the Divine and Demonic Planes. For example, a Demon King breaking the
boundaries of a Mortal Plane may prompt a God to send an avatar or empower a
champion to resolve the situation.
Exceptions Among the Gods:
Not all Gods are indifferent. Some take a personal interest in specific
Mortal Planes or even specific mortals, either out of curiosity, affection, or a
desire to use that world as a testing ground for their ambitions.
The Nature Goddess, for instance, is unusually protective of her mortal
domains, which is why she has created avatars like Grandma Iris to safeguard
specific ecosystems.
Implications for the Mortal Plane:
The Fragility of Existence:
The Mortal Planes insignificance to the Gods creates a sense of existential
fragility. Should something catastrophic occursuch as a Demon King corrupting the
entire world or a tear in the multiversal webthe Gods may simply abandon this
plane and focus their efforts elsewhere. Mortals who learn this secret may struggle
with feelings of futility, knowing their world is merely a drop in an infinite
ocean.
The Role of Heroic Individuals:
Heroic-level mortals are not merely fighting for their own Mortal Planethey
may unwittingly be playing a role in a larger multiversal conflict. Heroic
individuals who oppose demons or serve the Gods may unknowingly prevent threats
that could ripple across multiple planes.
Conversely, mortals who reach the Demi-God level may gain the ability to
perceive the multiverse and influence neighboring Mortal Planes, potentially
shifting the balance of power.
The Nature of Demonic and Divine Invasions:
Invasions by Demon Kings or celestial interventions by angels are not unique
to this Mortal Plane. These events are occurring simultaneously across countless
worlds, creating a multiversal battlefield.
Mortals who repel a Demon King may believe theyve won a decisive victory,
but in truth, theyve only prevented their world from falling while the larger war
continues elsewhere.
The Multiverse as a Test:
Some Gods and Demons view the Mortal Planes as testing grounds where souls
prove their worth. Mortals who achieve Heroic or Demi-God levels may be drawn into
larger, multiversal conflicts, becoming pawns in cosmic games between higher
powers.
Secrets of the Multiverse Known to Demi-Gods and Above:
The Flow of Souls:
Souls do not belong to a single Mortal Plane. When a soul is destroyed or
consumed in one plane, its energy disperses across the multiverse, contributing to
the Divine or Demonic Planes.
Mortals who die heroically may reincarnate in other Mortal Planes, continuing
their journey without memory of their previous lives.
Interplanar Travel Exists, but Its Forbidden:
While interplanar travel between Mortal Planes is theoretically possible, it
is an immensely dangerous and forbidden practice, even for Demi-Gods. Gods actively
suppress this knowledge to prevent chaos.
A Demi-God attempting to breach another Mortal Plane could destabilize both
planes and risk drawing the attention of Demons or rival Gods.
The Multiverse is Infinite, but Some Mortal Planes Are Special:
While most Mortal Planes are ordinary and expendable, a small number of them
contain special properties that make them critical to the balance of the cosmos.
These Anchor Planes connect multiple dimensions or contain ancient
artifacts capable of shifting the balance between the Divine and Demonic Planes.
The current Mortal Plane may or may not be one of these Anchor Planes, and
Heroic individuals could be key to uncovering its true purpose.
