hydraulics (n pl) parts of a machine or system that use


the pressure of water or other liquids
to move or lift things
track (n) a continuous metal band that goes
over the wheels of a vehicle allowing
it to move over uneven ground
stabiliser (n) a piece of equipment that helps make
something steady
lift (v) to move something or someone
upwards into the air
load (n) a large quantity of something that is
carried
trench (n) a long narrow hole dug into the
surface of the ground
drive (v) to hit or push something into
something else
pile (n) a heavy wooden, stone or metal post,
used to support something heavy
bulldozer (n) a powerful vehicle with a broad metal
blade, used for moving earth and
rocks, destroying buildings, etc.
jackhammer (n) a large powerful tool used by hand to
break hard materials, e.g. the surface
of a road, concrete
scoop (v) to pick something up or remove it
using a curved object
pile driver (n) a machine for pushing heavy posts
into the ground

fuel cock (n) a valve by which the flow of a liquid


can be regulated
choke (n) a piece of equipment in a vehicle that
controls the amount of air going into
the engine, and that is used to help
the engine start
resistance (n) force that tends to oppose or retard
motion
choke lever (n) a stick or handle that use to operate
a piece of equipment in a vehicle that
