Clothing to be worn √ Notes
Strong well soled boots with ankle support Combat boots can be worn if comfortable and in good condition
Walking Trousers / Sports Leggings / Tracksuit Pants Not heavy weight tracksuit as they are heavy and retain water if they get wet (can
result in chaffing)
Fleece / warm layer Fleeces preferable as lighter and don’t retain water if they get wet
T Shirt Cotton or sports top
Walking socks 2 pairs or double lined to avoid blisters
Base layers / skins Can also be worn to sleep in if it’s cold

Rucksack and Waterproof liner Approx 60 litres
Sleeping Bag (double wrapped) At least 3 season for colder weather
Sleeping Mat (double wrapped)
Survival Bag Needed in case of an emergency but has a multitude of practical uses
Torch, spare bulb and batteries Spare bulb not needed for LED torches
Water Bottles (at least 2 litres) Minimum of 2 containers
Compass
Whistle
Map Case
Spork or Knife, Fork, Spoon
Mug Plastic / Metal for making hot drinks
Spare Boot Laces For replacement and repairs if necessary
Spare carrier bags For rubbish – all waste must be carried with you until you find a bin
Wash kit Simple e.g. toothbrush, toothpaste, wipes, deodorant
Personal First Aid / Medication Personal painkillers, blister plasters etc
Emergency Rations (High energy snacks) E.g. Mars bar, kendal mint cake - wrapped and sealed. Approx 500 calories
Sun hat / cap and Sunglasses
Notepad and pen To collect information for team goal
Camera If needed for team goal

Fuel Must be twist on not piercing. Can share 1 between 2

Washing up liquid & scouring pad At least 1 in the group
First Aid Kit and Sewing Kit Triangular bandage, scissors, antiseptic wipes, tick remover, tweezers, crepe
bandages, sterile dressing, disposable gloves. Simple needle and thread for sew kit
Sun cream
Insect Repellent
Do not bring any electronics. Cadets will not be allowed mobile phones whilst on expedition, but these can be kept with
staff and used to contact home once finished.
