Eco Club Director Speech

Good morning to one and all present here.

I’m Shapnavi Shanmugam, and I’m truly honored to serve as the Director of our school’s Eco
Club this year.

Our planet is changing, and it is our shared responsibility to protect and preserve it — beginning
right here in our own school. The goal of the Eco Club is not to create massive change overnight,
but to take consistent, meaningful steps that make a real difference over time.

This year, we will focus on simple but impactful initiatives.

We will begin with recycling drives, where we collect used paper and plastic bottles. . Instead of
letting them pile up in corners or end up in the trash, we’ll give them a second life — either
through proper recycling or creative reuse.

We will also launch the “Green Corners” project, placing small plants in classrooms and school
areas to bring natural beauty and a sense of calm to our environment.

Another initiative I’m especially excited about is the “Recycled Board Project”. Each class will
design and decorate a display board using only recycled materials — such as newspapers,
magazines, wrappers, and cardboard. It’s a chance to be both creative and environmentally
conscious. The class with the most innovative board will receive certificates in recognition of
their efforts.

"I’m not here to make promises — only to take action, and to invite all of you to do the same, as
we work together through the many exciting activities planned this year to make our school a
greener, cleaner, and more environmentally conscious place."

Thank you and have a good day.
