(57) Abstract :
The present invention relates to a novel ballistic armor plate designed to offer superior protection while reducing weight compared to traditional body armor solutions.
The armor plate features a multi-layered composite structure comprising four distinct materials arranged in a specific sequence. The outermost layer is Carbon Fiber
Reinforced Polymer (CFRP), sized at 300 mm × 250 mm × 2.5 mm, which serves as the strike face material to absorb and distribute the impact force from ballistic
threats. Beneath the CFRP layer is a Titanium Alloy Ti6Al4V layer, also sized at 300 mm × 250 mm × 2.5 mm, providing high-strength protection and enhancing
durability against high-velocity impacts. The third layer is a Kevlar fabric, measuring 300 mm × 250 mm × 0.5 mm, which contributes to energy absorption and reduces
backface deformation. The innermost layer is Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE), sized at 300 mm × 250 mm × 15 mm, offering robust resistance
to projectile penetration and fragmentation. This multi-layered composite structure achieves a total plate weight of approximately 2.129 kg, which is significantly
lighter than traditional ballistic armor plates typically weighing between 3 to 3.5 kg. The invention addresses the need for a lightweight, durable, and effective ballistic
protection solution for modern body armor applications.
