1. (a) Simplify: 36/48

(c) Multiply: 5/8 × 3/4

(e) Add: 4.67 + 3.89, then multiply the sum by 2. (Show all steps)

Section 2: Percentages & Ratios (20 Marks)


2. (a) Find 15% of 240.

(b) A price increases by 25%. If the original price was R320, what is the new price?

(c) A recipe calls for a 2:5 ratio of sugar to flour. If 200g of flour is used, how much sugar is

needed?

(d) A class has 24 boys and 16 girls. Express the ratio of boys to total students in simplest form.

Section 3: Algebra & Word Problems (20 Marks)


3. (a) Solve for x: 3x + 5 = 20.

(b) The sum of two numbers is 54. One number is twice the other. Find both numbers.

(c) A train travels at 60 km/h for 2.5 hours. How far does it travel?

(c) A water tank holds 120 liters. If 3/5 of the tank is full, how many liters of water are inside?

(d) The temperature in Cape Town is 18°C in the morning and rises by 7°C by noon. What is the

new temperature?
