The birthday party
The birthday party began early on a Saturday autumn afternoon. It was a warm day and the
sun was shining in a clear blue sky. The garden of the house was decorated with brightly
colourful balloons and pennants hanging from the palm trees. A large table was set up near
the pool, it was full of snacks, cheese and crackers, chips with wacamole and salsa, chicken
wings, fizzy drinks, orange juice and various delicious sweets, such us cupcakes, muffins,
brownies, mini cheese cakes.
It was Lisa´s 8th birthday. Lisa was a tall girl with long, curly hair and brown eyes. She was
sweet, kind, pampered, and loved by everyone. She was wearing her parent´s presents; a new
purple embroidered silk dress and black boots. The guests were school friends and family who
brought beautiful gifts for her. While all the children were playing different games in the yard,
her dad was preparing a barbecue and hamburgers. Her mum was keeping an eye on them to
make sure they didn´t get hurt while they were jumping or running on an inflatable slide that
had been set up for the party.
Although the children were still playing, at 6 o´clock it was time for the cake, which had been
prepared by Lorna, who was Lisa´s aunt. Lorna was a renowned pastry chef who had won the
first prize on the baking TV programme Bake Off, so she made for her beloved niece a
deliciously and exclusive decorated birthday cake. Everyone sang “Happy birthday”, Lisa made
three wishes and blew out the candles. After eating the piece of cake, some children went
home while others stayed and played until their parents came to pick them up, but her family
stayed until the evening.
Lisa was very happy and thrilled because none of her guests missed her birthday party an all
her friends were grateful for the celebration. This birthday party had been one of the best
parties of her life.
