Ooh, you’re hungry for stories today!

I like it 😎
Here comes your next supernatural sci-fi story, a little darker, a
little twistier:

---

Title: “Echoes in the Lab”

Dev was a prodigy. At 14, he was already interning in a research lab

with scientists who used phrases like "quantum entanglement" and
"you shouldn’t touch that button."

So naturally, Dev touched the button.

It was an ordinary Tuesday. Boring experiments. Reheated samosas

in the break room. Then he found a hidden panel behind a wall
labeled “DO NOT OPEN. Seriously.” He opened it.

Inside was a sleek, glowing device—cylindrical, humming softly,

and pulsing like a heartbeat.

> “Looks like a time manipulator,” Dev muttered.

So he poked it. As one does.

The world shimmered.

Suddenly, everything froze—except Dev. The other scientists were

statues, mid-blink. The samosa was stuck in mid-air, still flying
toward someone’s mouth.

“Cool,” Dev whispered.

But then he heard footsteps.

Slow. Echoing. Wrong.

He turned.

Another version of himself walked through the lab. Same face.

Same messy hair. But pale. Eyes all black. Moving like a glitch in a
video game.

> “What… are you?” Dev asked, backing away.

The doppelgänger smiled. “I’m the version of you who touched the
button five minutes later. When it was unstable. When it… split us.”

Turns out, the machine didn’t just freeze time—it fractured

timelines. Dozens of alternate Devs were now bleeding into this
one timeline. Some curious. Some lost.

Some dangerous.
For days, Dev dodged alternate versions of himself—one who
turned into mist, one who never blinked, one who tried to eat time
itself like it was a snack.

Only one clue kept him grounded: a note scrawled in his own
handwriting across the lab wall:

> “Find the original you. Only one can survive.”

But how do you know if you’re the original?

Dev stared into the eyes of another Dev, breathing heavily, both
holding the same crowbar.

> “So... rock, paper, scissors?” he offered.

The other Dev smirked.

> “Winner resets time.”

To be continued…? 😈
Or shall I cook up another stor
