MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY:
Teaching is a skill. The teaching and learning processes are inextricably linked. Teaching
is an ever-changing process with constant churns and changes, as well as tactics that are adapted
to new conditions. Teaching affects students in a variety of ways, including improving their skills
and allowing them to apply what they've learned.
I strongly believe that higher education is not only excelling in content and becoming
expert in that. Its beyond the reach and thinking out of the box to come up with unique solutions
of their own.It also opens up the plethora of possibilities in finding meticulous solutions for the
existing problems.
I analyse or judge students' ability to think beyond the knowledge they are taught by
conducting standard tests and include essay questions in addition to keeping track of their active
engagement and progress. I expect them to be self-directed learners who use their individual
perspectives to demonstrate their speaking abilities. I evaluate them based on their own work
analysis and contributions to the final project.
I work hard continuously to create a conducive environment for the students that fosters
critical thinking and enhances problem solving abilities. All students in order to become
contributors and integral members of the society needs to have a better understanding of the
matter content or facts presented in books or lectures and materials, but need to introspect
understand and pose well thought out questions with inquisitiveness and curiosity of their own.I
foresee students to become self dependent and independent learners with their self driven
curiosity and then taking the level of their curiosity to a notch higher.I see myself and the
collaborative work in the classroom spur them to profound explorations on their own.
3
LEARNINGS FROM MODULE 0:
I have learnt the importance of engaging the students throughout the entire semester with
an impressive introduction. It also gave me a scope for introspection and improvise myself to not
only interact with many teachers but also learn the other side of the perspective for a single
opinion or frame work.It also helped me remodify my strategies and make them suitable for the
current generation of millennial students. It also gave me a chance to portray my
feelings, objectives and found absolute respect to treat others principles with dignity.
I also learnt the importance of being aware about the evaluators who are going to
comprehensively evaluate the assignments or work being done by us.It also gave me the chance
to understand the importance of assistant faculty in making the students realize the shortcomings
in their works and also the wonderful suggestions laid by them will help the students to perform
better and get best equipped to face the challenging assignments and endeavors. This module zero
also has been vital in showing that laying out principles well ahead of starting a course brings in
the aura of complete understanding of rules and abiding by themselves in order to not violate
them and also being honest in coming up with works of utmost honesty and sincerity.
LEARNINGS FROM MODULE 1:
According to the module 1 Teaching & Learning Process, I learned a lot of fresh
information that I hadn't heard before. It's an opportunity to learn about different objectives that
can be implemented into the teaching curriculum to make the teaching learning process more
fascinating and entertaining. It also gave me the opportunity to learn about the characteristics of
21st-century learners.
As a teacher, I must be aware of the students' aptitude, attitude, and essence in order to
make appropriate modifications. It allows for a more effective teaching and learning process.
When a teacher has prior understanding of the students, it is much easier for him or her to infuse
or ingest many of his or her beliefs in them while expecting general progress.
Instituting ARCS Model of design in my lectures to bring in attention, relevance
,confidence and satisfaction among the students through a comprehensive lecture or
class.Attention can be grabbed by perceptual arousal, inquiry arousal and variability.Relevance is
brought by goal orientation, motivation matching familiarity.Confidence building strategies are
by performance requirements, success opportunities and personal control.
4
Intrinsic reinforcement, extrinsic rewards, and equity in maintaining similar standards for
all students to achieve consistent success are some of the tactics used to increase student
satisfaction.
LEARNINGS FROM MODULE 2:
In accordance with module 2, which is concerned with course design and delivery. There
are numerous components that must be handled. This course design and delivery module has
taught me what to do and what not to do on the first day of class. In reality, he grasped the need
of communicating to the pupils what is expected of them during the course. Also defining and
designing course objectives has been going for some time specifically I have learnt the
distinction of course objectives into different attributes. They are set of expectations which were
divided into students and instructors.
The Course objectives need to be revamped according to the revised bloom's taxonomy
so that they are specific, measurable and demonstrable. These course objectives are also
simplified in a form of hierarchy starting from course level to specific chapter module or unit
level to individual lecture level.Micro level course plan for a series of lectures in a unit which
includes specific learning outcomes of the unit, activities events and number of lectures taken to
complete the unit to attain the specific learning outcomes and whether the outcomes are
measurable and viable or not.
Using Moocs and open sources to enrich student knowledge by requiring them to take
these courses will pique their interest and inspire them to work harder to make their dreams a
reality. Moocs improve concern skills related to industry norms, giving you an advantage over
the competition while applying for jobs and internships. In the long run, this will benefit the
pupils.
LEARNINGS FROM MODULE 3:
According to me from the module 3 Creating a dynamic classroom there are lot of things
which were learnt starting with active learning techniques to collaborative learning techniques
and also teacher student perceived obstacles to effective student collaboration.Ten in short
activities, demo of active learning in large classes, project based learning ,navigating the bumpy
road and managing the disruptive behaviour in class, assessment components for collaborative
work,STAD and TGT Techniques.
Collaborative learning is nothing but a process of constructing knowledge through
interaction with others.Sometimes of behaviour that have strategically useful in the past have to
be unlearned in collaborative learning situations. For example in order to well in public
5
examinations in competitive situations, competitive behaviour strategies may work well. But in
collaborative learning situations these behaviours can mean that the products of collaboration are
of poor quality and learners are unhappy with the result.
Four group learning activities effective for engineering education. They are
JIGSAW,TGT,STAD AND TAI.All these four group activities have common steps whose main
focus is to group studying the material together, students helping each other to clarify the doubts
and master the complex parts of the concept which enables the instructor to actively engaged in
supervising or helping the groups. All these four activities do require group of 4-5 members
each.Groups are created by the instructor based on the students academic performance. All the
above four activities are researched extensively and used in different variations.Evaluation of all
the four activities is designed to grade both individual and its group members. ALL the four of
them are found to be very effective for complex and compound theoretical content specially for
university and professional education.
LEARNINGS FROM MODULE 4:
According to module 4 Harnessing the power of technology I have learnt the art of
making instructional videos and recording links to an external site. Also learnt how to use virtual
labs for simulation of experiments and also to explain the theoretical concepts in a better and
profound way. Also learnt how to incorporate additional examples for using interactive
simulations. The process of making instructional videos was a new and exciting thing for me
which I had done never before.
The Creation of instructional videos and recording links to external sites was a new kind
of experience. In this technology driven world we too have to incorporate these things in our
mode of teaching that would be of great help to the students and transform their attitude towards
learning and in the process to become a responsible engineer and contribute to the society.Tips
for creating effective instructional videos forget the headset by a webcam that does both, keep the
duration of the video short up to 5 minutes. If you have lot to say chunk up the information.
The Harnessing technology module also taught me Various ICT tools that enhances the
attention span of students and help them actively participate in activities. They are
kahoot,socrative ,mentimeter and edu puzzle.
LEARNINGS FROM MODULE 5:
According to Module 5 Effective assessment I Have learnt how to design an effective
assessment along with structured rubric with reflective points. The assessment is a own tool
which improvises the assessment altogether.
6
Here we will discover twelve assessment principles. They are that assessment should aid
students in learning, assessment must be compatible with the course objectives, what is taught
and learned, and variety in assessment forms allows for a wide range of learning outcomes to be
measured while also keeping students interested..Students needs to clearly understand what is
expected of them in assessed tasks.criteria for assessment should be detailed, transparent and
justifiable.Students need timely feedback on their work, assessment should be undertaken with an
awareness that an assessor may be called upon to justify a student’s result. The best starting point
for countering plagiarism is in the design of the assessment tasks.Group assessments need to be
carefully planned and structured.when planning and wording assignments or questions it is vital
to check their appropriateness to all the students in the class whatever their cultural
differences.Systematic analysis of students performed on assessed tasks can help identify areas
of the curriculum which need improvement.
Incorporating ethics in engineering make sure the students are made aware of the honour
code, ethics in engineering and also communicated clearly the expectations consequences of
violating ethics and punishments on offer to be said before clearly. An exhaustive checklist for
technical document submission which comprises of format name, font style, spacing, heading sub
headings, bibliography, number the pages, store the template.Use easy style and same font in the
entire document.
Plagiarism is the process of portraying someone's individual work as their own work.
Also failing to quote proper citations and references can also be called as plagiarism. The root
cause for plagiarism in students is lack of awareness regarding this, no exposure to ethics and
moral values ever since their childhood. Another vital cause for prevalence of plagiarism in
modern day students is lack of reading skills and deficiency in decent vocabulary. Another
primary reason is due to rural background and upbringing of children by uneducated parents.
These many factors can be attributed to the prevalence of plagiarism.

Reflective Report on Personal & Professional Growth:
This IEECP Phase 2 training over the past 6 months brought a sensational change in me.It
changed the way I used to Think and look at the things in a different way.The 5 and half month
journey made me face a lot of challenges and also made me more determined to overcome them
like a Bouncing ball.
I have learnt many new aspects such as making instructional videos, active collaborative
techniques, active learning methods and also incorporating ethics and honour code for my
courses.I also have conducted flipped class and PSIS activities which received overwhelming
response from the students. They are very enthusiastic and hopeful of the activities being
continue further in the next semester as well.
I also had great liking and affinity towards some activities like Think pair share,Value
line,JIGSAW and Three step interview process.I would like to explain why I liked these
activities along with the feedback I got from the students.
Think pair share this is general in short activity which is run to garner the attention of the
class and also make them engaged in the activity. This gave the students to think on the given
problem and also share their views with their peers. This enhanced the student thinking ability
and also shed their fears by openly and courageously expressing their views. They were given
constructive feed back. They were also supposed to submit a gyst of the activity along with the
feed back. After this they were confident enough in expressing their views and perspectives of the
wide variety of topics which expanded their grip on the subject. They were very much satisfied
and requested me to conduct these activities once very fifteen days. This also made their learning
and understanding process easier for the complex topics of the subject.
The value line activity was a great activity to explore the understanding
and analysing and interpretation skills of the students. This activity enables the students to
critically think and solve the problems and submit in a group and express their opinion as
well. This gelled the students together to express their opinions. They said that after this activity
they were able to analyse and understand the concept better. They were inclined towards
conducting Value line again and again. This Value line was new and exciting for me as well as the
student. They replicated it with a tremendous response by almost 90% of the people participating
in it and then gave a feedback which is analogous.I am overwhelmed by their response. As an
instructor it gave ultimate satisfaction by seeing enormous response from them by actively
engaged in the activity.Hence I would like to further continue with this activity of Value line in
future.
8
One such activity I found it very interesting was Three Step interview process which
ignites the inner desire of the students by the active role play. They were divided into questioner
and explainer.after which role reversal would be done and then finally those who completed
work Faster were given the chance to frame questions and work on it to save the time. This
ignited the students ability to frame questions and made them ready to answer the questions with
great ease and confidence. The three step process itself exudes confidence in members and takes
along with. The three step interview process did involve all the students to participate and
somehow encouraged role play.Even though its little difficult to conduct for large classes but this
was the turning point to bring a change in the attitude and thinking of my students.I loved it and
even my students too.I would like further extend this activity in the ensuing semesters.
Another activity was the JIGSAW which is extensively researched activity which is very
useful for complex topics of the subject. This activity demanded formation of
heterogeneousgroups.Expert groups and original group and coming up with different
perspectives and finally expressing their opinion for their team requires lot of
patience, perseverance and analytical abilities. Most of the students after the activity have said
they were able to understand the concept better and analyse better with this JIGSAW
activity.Initially they were hesitant to participate but once started they calmed down their nerves
and happily engaged in the activity with deep Focus.Everything will not be a success but I tend
to see this JIGSAW Activity as major breakthrough for students in order to develop their team
gelling skills, verbal skills and interpretation skills. It gave me the crazy feeling and most inclined
towards this activity.
There are few tools like kahoot and socrative which gives the scope for more number of
students to participate. This enhances competitive spirit among the students to learn the concepts
better and gain competitive edge over others by frequently participating in these activities.
Finally I would like to say that I am not in favour of keeping teaching assistants for large
classes which is not the scenario in our university or college as well.I am also against the idea of
not conducting TGT and STAD Activities which are difficult to conduct for second year
students. They are not really in my Favour and some how couldn’t like them.
This Journey of IEECP Phase two has taught me the most important thing in my
life.Time management and maintaining deadline. Here I would like to put forth my case.Almost
all the assignments and Discussions I have spent quality time in working on them and submitting
in time. But however in case Harnessing Technology assignment 1 Making of instructional video
I have not spent time and put it up for the last moment. On the day of submission there was power
cut and couldn’t submit in time.As a result penalty of 1.5 marks was deducted. This made me
realise that never procrastinate your works and don’t wait for the deadlines.
9
Overall as a person and professional I had experienced the turning point of my life which
made me evolve as a person,An instructor and gentle person. This sojourn had lead me to a
beautiful Juncture where there is scope for further improvement in few aspects of mine.As a
Teacher I would strive to continuously improve for the betterment of myself as well as for the
sake of my students.
