Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer with proven technical leadership and
project management experience to lead and manage geotechnical design and delivery of
multidisciplinary projects across local and international markets. The ideal candidate will
bring deep technical expertise, client-facing experience, and a strong understanding of
international standards, with specific exposure to the Middle East region (UAE & KSA).

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

 Lead geotechnical design delivery for single and multi-disciplinary projects ensuring
compliance with international codes and standards.
 Supervise and guide geotechnical engineers on technical aspects, both locally and
internationally.
 Conduct design reviews aligned with Arup Management Systems (AMS).
 Review and approve technical reports, design documents, and specifications.
 Collaborate with structural and civil engineering teams to deliver integrated
solutions.
 Manage geotechnical risks and develop mitigation strategies.
 Oversee geotechnical investigations, fieldwork, lab testing, and data interpretation.
 Keep updated on global best practices and innovations in geotechnical engineering.
 Contribute to technical publications and present at industry conferences.
 Apply ground investigation (GI) techniques and determine accurate design
parameters.

Team & Business Leadership

 Lead and support a growing team of geotechnical engineers.


 Drive a culture of Health & Safety compliance across all work practices.
 Ensure effective resource allocation and project delivery.
 Support recruitment, onboarding, and performance appraisals.
 Mentor team members and contribute to career development and succession
planning.
 Lead internal meetings, set project targets, and ensure AMS/IP compliance.
 Collaborate across Arup’s global network to enhance communication and technical
excellence.
Business Development

 Engage with new and existing clients to build long-term relationships.


 Support prequalification submissions, RFP responses, and proposal development.
 Promote cross-selling of Arup services across disciplines and regions.
 Represent Arup in market outreach and industry events.

Project Management

 Act as Project Manager (PM) on selected projects ensuring quality, timeline, and
budget compliance.
 Manage all project phases from bid to execution, including contract finalization.
 Coordinate with global Arup teams for cost-effective delivery.
 Monitor project risks, commercial returns, and ensure statutory compliance.
 Oversee project financials, including billing, WIP, and receivables.
 Deliver monthly project management reports to leadership teams.

Requirements & Qualifications

 Education: BEng/BSc (Hons) in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or equivalent.


 Experience: Minimum 10 years post-graduate experience with 5+ years on projects
in UAE/KSA or Middle East.
 Certifications: Chartered Engineer status; membership in a recognized professional
body.
 Software Skills: Proficiency in Plaxis 2D/3D, FLAC, and OASYS software
preferred.
 Project Experience: Proven track record in design consultancy, working with
remote teams.
 Client Skills: Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management capabilities.
 Business Acumen: Experience in bidding, proposal writing, and business
development.
 Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
 Travel: Willingness to travel overseas (UAE/KSA) for client meetings and
workshops.
