BUTTERFLY VALVES BF SERIES

INTRODUCTION

4 The Watts BF Series Resilient Seated Butterfly Valve is available in sizes 50 –

2600 mm, Wafer or Lug body design. This series was designed to meet the
stringent requirements of industrial Applications, Water treatment, distribution
systems, fire protection, heating and plumbing systems, OEM, and wherever
positive shut-off is required for liquids, gases, and lurries.

Incorporating a 16 bar pressure rating for 50 - 300 mm and a 10 bar pressure

rating 350 - 600 mm.
- The Series BF is constructed of a ductile cast iron body
- Electrolytic Nickel Plated ductile iron disc
- 416 Stainless Steel shaft
- Optional materials are available to meet specific application requirements.
- A phenolic backed seat prevents the seat from collapsing or dislodging and is
field replaceable
- Available standard seat materials include BUNA-N, EPDM and special factory
orders for Viton

The Watts Series BF Butterfly Valves are designed and manufactured according
to DIN 3230, BS 5155, and API 609.

METHOD OF OPERATION

Installation
Assure gasket surfaces are free of defects.
Valves should not be mounted between flanges
having defective mating surfaces and should
never be used to align improperly positioned pipe.
The distance between pipe flanges should be
checked to assure sufficient clearance for valve
installation.

The valve disc should be positioned inside the

body when being placed between flanges,
however, not fully closed.

For wafer valves, the valve must be visually

centred with respect to the flange faces, while lug
valves may be centred with flange bolts.
Standard Handle Gear operator The valve should be operated to assure that
binding or interference is eliminated. Flange
bolting should be tightened gradually. The flange
joint is complete when the body bottoms against
the flange faces evenly without gaps. Bolts
should then be tightened sufficiently to prevent
loosening of the joint.
