Region Description

This map “takes place” on the planet of Necromunda and is generally a

region of desert and “waste.” I’m not too sure how much space should be
between each hive but I was thinking a rough estimate of about 200 miles.
There is a mountain range running down the middle of the region but trade
routes for caravans have been carved out. Some will be larger than other,
some are more “official” than others and smuggling routes have been known
to exist. The area to the “right” is known as “deep wastes” and should look a
little different than the main region/portion of the map. The darker areas of
the map, surrounding the hive buildings, are the actual hive’s footprint, I just
wasn’t sure how to make it look like a “hive.”

Points of Interest
Hive A
- “Dead” hive
- Previously destroyed for (mostly) unknown reasons
- Currently being mined for resources by the Squat mining clans and by
settlements of people living around the ruined hive
- Should look ruined, destroyed, even pieces of the hive all over as the
hive collapsed upon itself

Hive B
- Main industry is the production of chems, and promethium offshoots
from the mined materials from the “Great Sulfuric Canyon”
- Devotes most of its resources and populace to mining the canyon
- Multitude of trade routes and highways lead from the hive, through the
mountain ranges, and to the canyon
- Looks like your more “typical” hive

Hive C
- Almost exclusively devoted to promethium production from the Sulfuric
Sea
- Edges of hive border the sea, and flows of sulfur run from the sea and
into the bottom of the hive for production use
- Should look like a giant oil refinery rather than your standard hive

Great Sulfuric Canyon

- Once a tributary leading into the Sulphurous Sea
- A dam has since been built and the tributary drained, exposing rich
deposits of sulfuric rock for mining
- Numerous settlements dot both sides of the canyon

Canyon bridge
- Believed to have been built by the Squat mining clans in return for the
charter to mine Hive A
o Rumor has it that Hive A was the payment (i.e. its destruction
and plundering) for the bridge, as without it, promethium trade
would take 300% longer to transport)
- Specialized mag-trains are used to transport goods across
- Two Palanite precincts at both sides of the bridge act as “border and
custom” for transporting goods

Canyon Dam
- Dam built to limit flow of Sulfur into the Canyon and expose rich
deposits for mining

Chem Crossroad
- Largest of the settlements that pepper the region
- Heavy market for chem trade
- Built around an intersection of major trade roads in the region

Great Promethium Refinery Fields

- Effectively double the footprint of Hive C
- Main center of promethium production in the region
- Precursors and materials refined in the underhive of Hive C are
transported by pipes to the fields for the final stages of production

Squat Tracken Mining Clan Stronghold

- Main Charter-holders of mining rights in the ruins of Hive A
- Rumored to have played a hand in the construction of the bridge for
mining rights
