Terms and Conditions
1. Period of Engagement: Your engagement as Apprentice Trainee in the POWERGRID
   shall be for a period of one year from the date of joining mentioned in the contract of
   apprenticeship. Also, your Apprenticeship Training shall be co-terminated with the
   termination of the contract of apprenticeship.
2. Place of Training: Your training location shall be determined as per the availability of
   the training facility and the requirements of the company. Training location may also be
   changed as part of the training requirement or for job rotation purposes at any time during
   the course of the apprenticeship training.
3. Obligation of Apprentice: Every apprentice undergoing apprenticeship training shall
   have the following obligations: -
     a) to learn his/her trade conscientiously and diligently and endeavour to qualify
        himself/herself as skilled in their respective trade before the expiry of the period of
        training at his/her place of training;
     b) to attend on-the-job/practical and instructional classes regularly;
     c) abide by the rules and regulations of the establishment in all matters of conduct and
        discipline also carry out all lawful orders of his/her nodal/reporting officers and
        superiors in the establishments; and
     d) to carry out his/her obligations under the contract of apprenticeship.
4. Work Dairy & Assessment:
     a) Work dairy in Format – 2 as specified in Schedule III of the Apprentices Rule 1992,
        shall be maintained by each apprentice trainee and countersigned by his/her
        concerned reporting officer once a week.
     b) Quarterly assessment shall be conducted as per the course curriculum to assess the
        technical/functional knowledge/performance and key behavioural competencies like
        leadership, communication, multi-tasking, time management, positive attitude, etc.
        acquired during the on-the-job training with the organization.

5. Leave entitlement: Apprentice Trainees are entitled to the following leaves during their
   Apprenticeship Training –
    a) Casual Leave (CL) - 12 days on a pro-rata basis in a year.
     b) Medical Leave (ML) - 15 days on the ground of medical illness.
     c) Extraordinary Leave (EOL) - Up to a maximum of 10 days without stipend after the
        entire CL or ML has been exhausted and the concerned nodal officer is satisfied with
        the genuineness of the grounds on which extraordinary leave is applied for.
     NOTE: Except in case of extreme urgency every apprentice shall submit an application
     for all leave to the concerned reporting officer/appropriate authority and obtain prior
     sanction before leaving the training location/station, failing which appropriate action shall
     be taken against the apprentice for any unauthorized absence which includes
     termination from Apprenticeship Training.
6. Working Hours & Holidays: Working hours & Holidays for apprentices shall be the
   same as applicable to regular employees at the place of training.
7. Stipend & other benefits:
   a) The prescribed stipend rate for the respective trade in a particular month shall be paid
      by the tenth day of the following month. However, no stipend shall be paid for the
      period for which an apprentice remains on absent/extraordinary leave.
   b) Shared bachelor accommodation may be provided to the Apprentice Trainee at the
      training location, if available. If accommodation is not provided, then an additional
      payment of Rs. 2500/- per month shall be paid to the trainee.
   c) Wherever required, Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) like Safety Shoes,
      Helmet, etc. are to be provided to Apprentice trainees by their respective Region/Sub-
      station/Site Office.
   d) If any apprentice trainee is going on an official tour with the approval of the respective
      Head of Region, TA/DA shall be payable as per their entitlement.
8. Rights of Employment: Your engagement as Apprentice Trainee does not confer you
   any right to employment in POWERGRID on completion of apprenticeship training or
   thereafter.
9. General:
   POWERGRID shall not entertain any claims of injury/accident, theft and other natural
   calamity or any loss inflicted during the course of apprenticeship training.
