The Story of Our Water: Keep It Clean!
Grade 3 Adventure
Slide 1: Title Slide
● Title: The Story of Our Water: Keep It Clean!
● Subtitle: Protecting Animals, Plants, and Our World
● Image: A clear, sparkling river with healthy green trees on the banks and happy
animals (e.g., a duck swimming, a fish jumping).
Slide 2: Water, Water Everywhere!
● Title: Why is Water So Special?
● Bullet Points:
○ Water covers most of our Earth!
○ Animals need water to drink and live in.
○ Plants need water to grow big and strong.
○ Even you need water to stay healthy and play!
● Image: A picture of children drinking water, a dog drinking from a bowl, and a
plant being watered.
Slide 3: When Water Gets Dirty...
● Title: Uh Oh! Dirty Water!
● Bullet Points:
○ Sometimes, bad things get into our clean water.
○ This is called water pollution.
○ It can be trash, yucky chemicals, or even oil.
○ Where does it come from? Sometimes from people not being careful, or from
big factories.
● Image: A river with some visible trash (plastic bottles, bags) floating in it. Make it
look sad, but not too scary.
Slide 4: Animals Get Sick!
● Title: Animals in Trouble!
● Bullet Points:
○ Fish and ducks can't breathe well in dirty water.
○ They might eat plastic bags by mistake, thinking it's food!
○ Oil spills make birds and otters sticky and unable to swim or fly.
○ Polluted water makes them very, very sick, and sometimes they can't live.
● Image: A drawing of a sad fish trying to swim past plastic, or a bird tangled in
trash (cartoon style, not too graphic).
Slide 5: Plants Can't Grow!
● Title: Plants Feeling Poorly!
● Bullet Points:
○ Water plants, like lilies and algae, need clean water to make their food.
○ If water has too many bad chemicals, plants can't grow properly.
○ Some chemicals can even make plants turn brown and die.
○ If water plants die, the animals that eat them also lose their food!
● Image: A patch of brown, wilting plants in water next to some healthy green ones
(to show contrast).
Slide 6: Our Whole World Feels It!
● Title: Our Earth Needs Help!
● Bullet Points:
○ When water gets polluted, it's not just one animal or plant that gets hurt.
○ The whole "neighborhood" (we call it an ecosystem!) becomes unhealthy.
○ Polluted water can make our air smell bad too.
○ It even makes our beaches and swimming spots unsafe for us to play!
● Image: A picture showing a wide view of a polluted area (e.g., a bay with a murky
appearance, maybe a sign saying "No Swimming").
Slide 7: Being Water Heroes! (Realistic Solutions)
● Title: What Can WE Do?
● Bullet Points:
○ Always put trash in the bin! Never throw it on the ground, especially near
drains or rivers.
○ Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! Use less, use things again, and put them in the
recycle bin.
○ Save Water! Turn off the tap when you brush your teeth. Less water used
means less dirty water to clean!
○ Don't pour bad things down the drain! Ask a grown-up what is safe to put
down the sink.
● Image: Kids putting trash in a bin, recycling bins, a dripping faucet with a
crossed-out sign.
Slide 8: Smart Scientists to the Rescue! (Scientific Solutions)
● Title: How Scientists Help!
● Bullet Points:
○ Water Treatment Plants: These are like big cleaning machines for water.
They take out all the bad stuff before the water goes back to nature!
○ Special Filters: Scientists invent new ways to filter out tiny bits of pollution.
○ Laws and Rules: Governments make rules to stop factories from polluting
water.
○ Cleaning Up Spills: Special teams work hard to clean up big oil spills in the
ocean.
● Image: A simplified drawing or photo of a water treatment plant, or a scientist in a
lab coat looking at water samples.
Slide 9: Let's Think Like Scientists! (Critical Thinking)
● Title: Your Turn to Think!
● Questions to Discuss:
○ If you see a lot of plastic bottles floating in a lake, what would be the first
thing you would do to help? Why?
○ Imagine a new type of soap that's super good for cleaning but also makes
plants sick. Should we use it? Why or why not?
○ How could our school help keep water clean? What's one new rule we could
have?
● Solutions for Discussion:
○ Plastic Bottles in Lake: The first thing to do is tell a grown-up! They can help
organize a cleanup or report it so the bottles don't hurt animals.
○ New Soap Dilemma: Even if a soap cleans well, if it hurts plants, it's not good
for our environment. We should look for soaps that are safe for both us and
nature.
○ School Water Rule: We could have a rule to use reusable water bottles
instead of plastic ones, or have special bins for recycling paper and plastic in
every classroom.
● Image: A thought bubble, or a cartoon lightbulb, with a question mark inside.
Slide 10: Our Water, Our Future!
● Title: Let's Keep Our Water Awesome!
● Text: Every clean splash, every saved drop, and every piece of trash put in its
place helps keep our water healthy for everyone!
● Call to Action: Be a Water Protector every day!
● Image: A happy, clean body of water with various healthy animals (fish, birds,
turtles) enjoying it.
Slide 11: Thank You!
● Title: Thank You for Being Water Heroes!
● Image: A simple "Thank You" graphic with water ripples or a droplet design.
