Analyse why creativity and innovation are important in
learning/teaching English or your future job.
Write at least about 250 words to describe it: the goals & skills
required

- This essay analyse what creativity skills is, its significance in


teaching English & practical ways to cultivate & apply this
skill in my professional life.
- Definition: Creativity is a noun that stems from the verb
“create” – creating new strategies, new script, new solutions,
new products that is better from the known. When we create,
we use the theories as tools to build something meaningful
to our lives, not for the tests. For teachers, that could be
adapting project-based tasks so that students speak more
with their classmates. Or innovating the learning materials
by adapting authentic poems. For students, that could be
using English to read Tiktok trends or writing diaries.
- Teaching is a profession that is normally seen with rigidity
and standardization, looking at what’s most discussed and
what’s most going on at school: the curriculum – the form
governing what every classroom abides, the logic, the rubrics
- fixed keys to questions, the multiple choice homework, the
right and wrong, the “beaten track”. Is there room left for
creativity in teaching? And in what situations, why creativity
are most needed?
+ Creativity is the requirement of today’s educational
reform: As a profession that is widely known for sticking to
traditional methods and social norms, learning the English
language is evolving to become a real tool of
communication that serves students’ unique needs &
purposes in life. New generation teachers are required to
adapt modern techniques & technological innovation into
teaching. The drive of the classroom should be the
cultivation for learners towards doing the real-life
project: talking to their friends in another language, joining
in cultural trend, designing a summer trip, making a plan
how to learn a second language.
+ Creativity enhances engagement inside a classroom.
From prehistoric education, it was about survival, community
& culture. Elders passed knowledge through stories, rituals,
songs & hands-on experience that naturally sparks curiosity
of students. So, why today’s teaching is all about the a dry
wall-of-text reading with nothing lingers in our mind after all
the quizzes? That being said, incorporating multi-media play
an important role in motivation, boosting performance.
