                                     ENGINEERING DRAWING
                                            (Common to IT and ME)

                                   (Answer all the questions: 05 X 14 = 70 Marks)
                                       Assume any missing data appropriately.

1   (a)   Construct an ellipse, with distance of the focus from the directrix as 60 and eccentricity as 2/3. Also
          draw normal and tangent to the curve at a point 50 from the directrix.
    (b)   A circle of 75 mm diameter rolls on another circle of 115 mm diameter with internal contact. Draw
          the locus of a point on the circumference of the rolling circle for its one complete revolution.
                                                        OR
2   (a)   Construct a parabola, with the distance of the focus from the directrix as 45 mm, also draw normal
          and tangent to the curve at a point 50 from the directrix.
    (b)   A circle of 60 mm diameter rolls without slipping on the outside of another circle of diameter 150
          mm. Show the path of a point on the periphery of the (generating)rolling circle, diametrically
          opposite to the initial point of contact between the circle.
3   (a) Construct a plain scale to show meters when 1 centimeter represents 4 meters and long enough to
        measure upto 60 meters. Find the R.F. and mark on your scale a distance of 40 meters.
    (b) (i) Draw the projections of a point P lying on HP and 40 mm in front of VP.
         (ii) Draw the projections of a point Q lying on VP and 30 mm above HP.
         (iii) A point R is 40 mm below HP and 50 mm behind VP. draw the
         projections
         (iv) A point S is 20 mm above HP and 40 mm behind VP. draw the
         projections

4   (a) Construct a Diagonal scale of R.F. = 1:32, 00, 000 to show kilometres and long enough to measure
        upto 500 kilometres. Show the distance of 267 kilometres on your scale.
    (b) (i) A point A is 40 mm above HP and 60 mm in front of VP. Draw its
         projections .
         (ii) A point B is 25 mm above HP and 40 mm behind VP. draw the
         projections
         (iii) Draw the projections of a point C lying on HP and 35 mm in front of
         VP.
         (iv) A point D is 20 mm below HP and 30 mm in front of VP. Draw the
         projections.
5   (a) A line LM 70 mm long has its end L 10 mm above HP and 15 mm in front of VP. The top and front
        views measure 60 mm and 40 mm respectively. Draw projections of the line. Find its inclinations
        with HP and VP.
    (b) A regular hexagonal lamina of 30 mm side rests on H.P with its plane surface vertical and inclined
        at 45° to V.P Draw its projections of the plane.

6    (a) A line AB is on HP and its one end A is 20 in front of VP. The line makes an angle of 45° with VP.
         And its front view is 60 long. Draw the projections of the line and determine the true length.
     (b) Draw the projections of circle diameter of 50 mm having its plane vertical and inclined at 30° to the
         V.P Its center is 30 mm above H.P and 20 mm in front of V.P.
7    (a) A pentagonal prism, side of base 25mm and axis 65mm long, rests with one of the edges of its base
         on H.P. Its axis is inclined 30° to H.P and parallel to V.P. draw its projections.
     (b) Draw the development of lateral surface of a square pyramid with a 60 mm base side and 80 mm
         long axis which is resting on its base in the H.P., when all the sides of the base are equally inclined
         to the V.P.

8    (a) A hexagonal prism side of base 25 mm and axis 60 mm long, lies with one of its rectangular faces
         on the H.P. such that the axis is inclined at 45° to V.P. draw its projections.
     (b) A Cylinder with a 60 mm base diameter and a 70 mm long axis, rests on its base on the H.P. Draw
         the development of its lateral surface when it is cut by an auxiliary inclined plane bisecting the axis
         and inclined at 50° to the H.P.
9         A sphere of diameter 50 mm rests centrally on top of a cube of sides 50 mm. Draw the isometric
          projections of the combination of solids.

10        Draw the elevation, plan and left and right views of the bracket shown in the picture below.
