PROTECTING SHEATH
•PETRO CHEMICALS Thermocouple element is protected by
metallic or non-metallic protective sheath,
proper selection of outer sheath depends on
field conditions at site such as Continuous
Temperature, Mechanical Injury, Chemical
Attack etc. Our standard diameter of metallic
sheaths are approximately 22mm OD and wall
thickness 2mm, the non-metallic protection
tubes in 1.5mm and 24mm outer diameter.

Thermotech thermocouples cover a wide range of temperature measurement in a


number of solids, liquids and gases in a variety of applications in the industries like
Cement, Glass, Ceramic, Heat Treatment, Iron & Steel, Power Station etc. Over the
normal range from – 200 C to +1800 C. The thermocouple essentially, consists of a
thermo-element, a protective sheath, connecting head and adjustable flange or some
other mounting arrangement.

→ Type ‘R’ (Pt. Rh. 13% - Pt.) & Type ‘S’ (Pt. Rh. 10% - Pt.)
are used to measure temperature upto 1400ºC/1600ºC
maximum.
→ Type ‘B’ (Pt. Rh 6% - Pt. Rh 30% or Pt. 18) are for temp.
upto 1800ºC max. Thermoelement pair is protected by two
or three ceramic sheaths of various types depending upon
working temperature and environmental conditions.
→ Ceramic protection tube Type KER 610 - with 60%, 80%,
Al2O3.
→ Type KER 710 - recrystalised - high alumina tube with
99.9% Al2O3 available in 24mm, 20mm, 15mm, 12mm,
10mm, 8mm, 6mm dia.
→ Holding tubes made of SS 304/SS 316 of 32mm, 25mm,
20mm dia are used to hold ceramic sheath with head.
→ Steatite Ceramic terminal block with nickle plated
terminals.
→ Die cast Aluminium/S.S. mounting head & adjustable
flange.
