Lesson 3 Water Baptism

INTRODUCTION:
In every ordinance of the New Testament Church, Jesus did not leave us in
ignorance, but He, Himself, set for us an example.

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

{[ A. What did He tell us to do first? TEACH

B. Whom did He say we are to teach? ALL NATIONS
C. Then what? BAPTIZE.
D.Why does water baptism bring such persecution in heathen lands?
1. It is an open rejection of heathen religious practices.
2. Because this is an open declaration that there is a new life in Christ.
E. Today in many heathen lands new converts are made to wait from three to
six months after they have accepted Christ before being baptized.
1. In bible times a new convert was baptized immediately.
What is the difference?

a. In Bible days most of the converts were Jews. The Jewish religion
had all the background of the true God except to acknowledge
Christ as God's Son and Messiah.
b. But in heathen lands missionaries have to wait until they see
whether or not a convert has really surrendered to the true god,
leaving all superstitions and false gods behind. There can be no
compromise with heathenism! ]}

a reality in your life.

Hebrews 13:8 as an example.
a. I'm so glad that I know Christ, and I have the assurance that
He will be with me and take care of me all through this
day,
(1) For the Bible tells us He never failed His people in
the yesterdays. He always met their need,
whether it was a physical, spiritual, or material.
(a) And for these reasons, no matter what happens in
the future, I have no reason to be afraid because
this Scripture tells me that Jesus Christ is the same
yesterday and today and forever.

each pupil one Scripture. Have him read the Scripture and then show
