invalidate the warranty.
2.5.1. AC Power Adapter
A UL listed 110 / 120 VAC power adapter is provided to operate and
recharge the Battery Pack for the StripPrint printer. The AC Power
Adapter plugs directly into a standard household style AC power
outlet while it’s mating DC plug, on a 6 ft extension, connects to the
StripPrint printer. The center pin is the positive DC input, while the
body of the connector is logic common or DC negative input.
The AC Power Adapter is internally fused and its output is rated at
10 VDC/1.0A.
2.5.2. DC Power Adapter
A 12 VDC power adapter is also provided to operate and recharge
the Battery Pack for the StripPrint printer. The DC Power Adapter
plugs directly into an automotive cigarette lighter socket, while it’s

the battery compartment for proper operation.
The Battery Pack must be charged for 24 hours prior to its first use.
To charge the Battery Pack use the AC or DC adapter provided.
After the initial first use, the Battery Pack will require ninety
minutes for full recharge.
4
The StripPrint is capable of delivering from one to two hours
continuous printing on a full charge.
2.5.4. StripPrint Battery Pack
The StripPrint is designed to operate with a 5.0 VDC rechargeable
Battery Pack. The Battery Pack is rechargeable using either the 12
Volt DC or 110 / 120 Volt AC adapter / chargers.
Two LED indicators showing the status of the Battery Pack are
provided.
The <Low BAT> LED is turned on when the battery voltage drops
below 4.1 volts.
The <Charge> LED is on while the battery is accepting a charge. It
turns off automatically at the end of the charge cycle, when battery
voltage reaches 5.56 volts.
The StripPrint printer incorporates an Internal Fast Charge
circuitry that can fully charge the battery in 90--120 minutes with an
automatic switch to trickle charge and maintain a fully charged
battery condition.
Remove the Battery Pack from the StripPrint battery compartment
during long storage or shipping. Additional Battery Packs are

5. Feed the new roll of paper into the StripPrint paper slot. The
StripPrint will automatically feed paper into the printer and stop
after about 3” of paper is advanced.
6. The last two feet of the paper roll is marked with a red stripe to
provide an indication that the paper roll should be replaced.
3. OPERATING YOUR StripPrint PRINTER
The Advance microprocessor must be powered up prior to
beginning to print. The micro will power up in PC Mode (which
allows the micro to power, but will not allow the unit to start) a few
seconds after a Download Cable is connected to the Download Port
of the unit. The micro will remain in PC Mode as long as the
Download Cable is connected, and the Start--Run--Off Switch
(SROS) is in the OFF position.
6
CAUTION
Menu items in the MessageCentert will time out in 5 – 10
seconds if no keys are pressed. Should this happen, simply
press the Select Key to bring up the Print Menu again.
Should you press either the "# Arrow Keys following the
time out, the setpoint will begin to change. If this happens,
press the Select Key. The Print Menu will come up, and the
Set Point will return to the previous value.
NOTE
StripPrint will not be able to print if:
a. New software has been loaded into the Advance
microprocessor. Printing will be allowed after at least
one DataLinkt data recording interval has elapsed.
b. The DataLink time clock has not been set. To check,
press the Select Key until the MessageCenter reads
”PRESS " # TO VIEW DATA”. Press # until
”DATALOGGER XX:XX (time) Day, Month, Year”
appears. If the Time and Date are not correct, set them,
following the instructions in the unit service manual.
1 Once the Advance microprocessor is powered up, press the Se-
lect Key until “PRESS "# TO VIEW PRINT MENU” is shown
in the MessageCenter. Pressing the " Arrow Key brings you to
the first menu item: “START PRINTING”. This is the first
selection, as usually this will be the only item you need, once all
the printing parameters are set. DO NOT START PRINTING
UNTIL ALL PRINT PARAMETERS ARE SET TO YOUR PREF-
ERENCES.
NOTE
Once the START PRINTING command has been sent, the
job can be cancelled by pressing and holding the “=” key
for 3 seconds. “PRINT JOB CANCELLED BY USER”
will be shown in the MessageCenter.
2 From the Print Menu, press the " Arrow Key until “PRINTER
MODE” is shown in the MessageCenter. The selections are
TEXT MODE or GRAPH MODE. Text Mode will print tem-
peratures in tabular format. Graph Mode will print the tempera-
tures on a Graph.
7
NOTE
Changes made to any of the parameters are all made using
the same basic key strokes. To make a change, press the
“=” Key. The selection will start blinking, indicating that
changes are now allowed. Then press the " arrow key until
the selection you want is in the MessageCenter. Press the
“=” Key again to enter that selection. Once entered, the se-
lected value will stop blinking.
3 From the Print Menu, press the " Arrow Key until “NUMBER
OF DAYS TO PRINT” appears in the MessageCenter. Here you
select the number of days of data you wish to print. The selec-
tions are 1 -- 5 days. An additional selection is “PRINT LAST
TRIP”. This selection works well when the operator has in-
serted a Trip Start Marker into the DataLink data recorder at the
beginning of the trip. Then only data from the beginning of the
trip until the present time will be printed.
NOTE
The maximum time that can be printed is 5 days, even if the
trip lasted longer than that time. The printer will print from
the actual date the request is made back 5 days.
4 From the Print Menu, press the " Arrow Key until “SENSOR
SELECTION” is shown in the MessageCenter. This menu op-
tion allows the user to define what temperature sensor readings
will be printed. Any three sensors may be selected at a time.
Only sensor data that is being recorded in the Data Link data re-
corder may be printed. Sensors that are being recorded will ap-
pear with [ DATA ] ahead of the sensor name. Sensors that are
not being recorded will appear with [NO DATA] ahead of the
sensor name.
NOTE
Once three sensors are selected, and you try to select anoth-
er, “MAX SENSORS SELECTED” will appear in the
MessageCenter.
8
5 Sensors that have been selected to be included in the printed re-
port will show “SELECTED” after the sensor name.
The sensors that may be selected are:
[ DATA] RAT SELECTED
[ DATA] SAT SELECTED
[ DATA] ATT
[ DATA] REMSN1 SELECTED
[ NO DATA] REMSN2
[ NO DATA] REMSN3
In the example above, RAT, SAT, ATT, and REMSN1 are all be-
ing recorded, and have data in the DataLink data recorder that
may be printed. REMSN2 and REMSN3 are not being re-
corded, and do not have any data in the DataLink data recorder
to print. In the event that a sensor with NO DATA is selected, the
report will show “No Sensor Data – and the name of the sensor
for which there is no data”. Sensors RAT, SAT, and REMSN1
have all been selected to be printed.
NOTE
Setpoint will always be printed in the report.
6 Once the sensor(s) have been selected, “BACK TO PRINT
MENU” will be the selection at the end of the sensor list. Press-
ing the “=” key takes you back to the Print Menu.
7 Pressing the " Arrow Key will bring you back to the first selec-
tion “START PRINTING”. Once all the parameters have been
selected, simply press the “=” key to start the printing process.
This will send the data to the StripPrint memory buffer, and the
StripPrint will begin to print.
8 If the StripPrint is not on (On--Line LED not illuminated), the
MessageCenter will show “PLUG IN PRINTER”. The Fault,
Ready, and On--Line LEDs will blink quickly. You have 75 sec-
onds to connect the printer and turn it on. If the StripPrint is not
turned on or connected within 75 seconds, “PRINT ABORT –
NO COM” will show in the MessageCenter until any key is
pressed.
9 For future printing, if all parameters are already set, the first
Menu selection is “START PRINTING”. It is not necessary to
go back through the entire Print Menu as the selections and set-
tings will be stored in memory for the next print job.
