1 General Description of Transformer
Introduction
Three Phase, Indoor/Outdoor two windings, mineral oil immersed 11/0.433kV and 33/0.433KV, Dyn11, upto 2500KVA
distribution transformers conform to IS 1180 & 2026.
It is available in Conventional and Corrugated tank design with off circuit or On load tap switch. Termination is with
Cable box and bus duct options are available.
Combined with multiple options, the Transformer can adapt to the specific requirements of each customer. The use of
specially chosen materials and high-performance production methods, guarantees its reliability and its very low
operating costs.

General Construction: -
All material used is of best quality and of the class most suitable for working under the conditions specified and shall
withstand the variations of temperature and atmospheric conditions, overloads, over excitation as per specified
standards, without distortion or deterioration or the setting up of undue stresses in any part, and also without affecting
the strength and suitability of the various parts for the work which they have to perform.
Magnetic Core:-
The magnetic core of the transformers is manufactured from a high grade, cold rolled grain oriented silicon steel. The
stacking of the laminations is with step lap type. The magnetic core is generally of a multi-layer, circular cross section
type, where the slitting and cutting of the magnetic core is done by automatic machines. In order to reduce the sound
level of the transformer to a minimum, the magnetic
core and its framework are carefully sized to minimize the vibrations and in particular, the magnetostriction effects
which constitute the main sources of sound in distribution transformers. In addition, in order to reduce the no load
losses and / or the no load current of the transformer, the quality of the magnetic steel and the induction together with
the design of the magnetic core are carefully chosen to meet the requirements.
Tank Construction:-
The main tank construction type is panel radiator type or corrugat ed wall tank. Radiators are welded or removable.
Tank welding is done by qualified welders. To validate the oil-tightness after complete assembly, the tank is leak
tested under gas or liquid overpressure. For hermetically sealed transformers, the cooling fi ns are designed to
compensate for excessive over pressure and to limit the effects of cooling liquid dilatation. Hanging pole transformers
are provided with a hanging device welded on the rear side according to national standards
Winding:-
Winding is made with 99.9% pure electrolytic grade copper, insulated with Class A .The HV & LV winding can
withstand thermal and mechanical stress in the event of short circuit .
Winding shall be carried in dust free area
Taping:
Tap changers allow voltage adjustment for a variation of the supply network voltages on the primary side of the
transformer, or for increasing or decreasing the secondary voltage. Tappings are provided on the primary winding
ROUTINE TESTS:
Routine tests are carried out at the factory in accordance with the standards defined in the technical specification of
this offer covering all of the equipment and comprises in particular:
a) Measurement of winding resistance
b) Measurement of voltage ratio and check of voltage vector relationship
c) Measurement of impedance of voltage (principal tapping), short circuit impedance and load loss.
d) Measurement of no load loss and current
e) Separate source voltage withstand test
f) Induced overvoltage withstand test
g) 2kV withstand test for all wiring
h) Magnetic Balance Test.
N.B.: a) Factory Acceptance test (FAT) is not part of standard offer. FAT is optional and can be provided at extra cost
and additional delivery time.
b) No special or type test is carried out during tests at the factory & not consider for this project, but the equipment type
test certificates of similar/nearby rating can be furnished on request for reference purpose.
Exclusion of Scope
• Transformer with Parallel Operation,disconnecting chember,10% additional oil, NCT,RTD is not part of offer.
• Sea worthy packing of the transformers (if applicable)
• All inspection costs, direct or indirect for witnessing factory acceptance test (if applicable)
• Training at factory/site
• Type, special and field tests.
• Civil work, Commissioning, Installation, Inspection
• Supply of Special tools and tackles
