Poster Writing
Posters are and amalgamation of notices, advertisements and invitations. They may be
in the form of hoardings to be put up on the wall or can be of Handbill size to be
displayed on notice board. Hence, they have to be captivating, attractive and
persuasive, so as to influence large number of people. Generally, they are designed to
create social awareness about issues related to current problems.

Points to remember
Poster should be put in a box.
There is no particular layout like notice for the posters. The box should be on
one single page. Nothing should be written on the line of the box or outside
the box.
Organization and sequencing of content in poster making has no particular
format. Only “Issued in public interest by…..” should be written at the end.
Variation in writing content with regard to fonts and styles of calligraphy must
be followed religiously. Example. Bold, Cursive, Shading, Italics, etc.
Catchy slogans and phrases are life lines of posters.
Avoid writing the complete sentences in content.
The use of picture and visual is must.
Content must include purpose, venue, time, place, duration, attraction/s,
offers, etc. in case of posters on events, celebrations, fete, etc.
Sample Question:
Your school is going to organize Diwali Fete. In the school premises. Draw a
poster highlighting all the necessary details.
