Once, there was a river so mighty it was called a lifeline — the Padma. It flowed wild and wide,
cutting across Bangladesh, connecting dreams and destinies. But for decades, the people living
on either side of this river remained separated — not just by water, but by opportunity.

Boats were the only way across, often dangerous and time-consuming. For many, it meant lost
time, lost chances, and lost lives.

In the heart of the nation grew an idea: a bridge over the Padma, the second largest river in
the country, where no bridge had ever stood before. A bridge that would connect Dhaka to the

But building it would not be easy.

Engineers warned of strong currents, soft soil, deep riverbeds, and severe monsoons. And then
came a blow — international donors withdrew funding over allegations that were never
proven.

Many thought the dream would die there.
