TECHNONICOL SBR LATEX


SBR LATEX based polymer for waterproofing, repair & rendering

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
TECHNONICOL SBR Latex is an emulsion of single component styrene butadiene co-polymer-based latex specially developed
to improve the properties of cementations compositions. It is fully soluble in water and to be added directly to the gauging water
of slurry / mortar / concrete / grout. Mortars produced with TECHNONICOL SBR Latex may be used for horizontal, vertical,
and overhead repair work. It is used with cement to produce a waterproofing membrane for concrete structures.

APPLICATION AREA:
 Repair & Rehabilitation of concrete.
 Waterproofing mortars / concretes including, terrace, sunken slabs, basements, retaining walls, water tanks, sunshades,
lift pits, balconies, masonry walls and slopping RCC roofs.
 Bedding for tiles / marbles.
 Bonding slurry.
 External rendering. General reconstruction work and latex modified overlays and topping.

In Cement Slurry
Dilute 100 gms. TECHNONICOL SBR LATEX with 400 gms. Of clean water. Pour 1 kg. Cement to this milky solution and keep
mixing till it forms a uniform slurry. This slurry will cover about 2 m2 and it will form an excellent bond coat, on which an overcoat
can be applied, while the bond coat is tacky.

As Direct Bond Coat


The surface should be thoroughly cleaned and roughened for mechanical key. Mix 2 parts of cement with 1 part of diluted
TECHNONICOL SBR LATEX (Latex: Water =1:1 to 1:4,) and apply evenly over the substrate, using a brush. The new topcoat
should be applied when this primer coat is still tacky. As a prime coat for bonding, consumption of TECHNONICOL SBR LATEX
will be about 200 to 300 gm/ m2 depending on the porosity of the substrate.

As Mortar/Render
Dilute TECHNONICOL SBR LATEX with water. Add this diluted solution of SBR LATEX to cement – sand mixture, the mixture
will become creamy and user friendly. Masons enjoy using this, as the speed of plastering also increases. Dilution of
TECHNONICOL SBR LATEX with water can be done in the ratio of 1:2 to 1:10 depending on the severeness of the water
seepage.

As Putty for Joints
Mix TECHNONICOL SBR LATEX with water in the ratio 1:1 to form liquid A. Mix one part cement to three parts of sand to form
powder B. Mix A : B in the ratio 1 : 8 to form a mortar of putty consistency, for application in joints. Apply putty in SSD condition
after proper nosing of joints; cure for 28 days.

In Cementitious Grouts
TECHNONICOL SBR LATEX can be added to freshly prepared grout and used either for Pocket grouting, baseplate grouting
or for injection purposes. FOR INJECTION GROUTING: mix 2 to 3 kg. Latex per bag of cement, along with other grouting
admixtures. FOR BASEPLATE and POCKET GROUTING: Dilute Latex with gauging water in the ratio 1:8.

As Damp-Proof Course (DPC)

Depending on ground water label, location and seasonal moisture contents of the substrate, SBR LATEX can be diluted with
gauging water; accordingly, either in the ration 1:4 or 1:6 and used to hydrate the flooring/DPC material. In marshy areas, a
slurry coat (1: 4: 10 = Latex: Water: Cement) is recommended.

In Concrete
In any nominal mix, TECHNONICOL SBR LATEX can be added with the gauging water in conjunction with other admixtures,
while producing concrete. The dose of TECHNONICOL SBR LATEX in concrete shall be between 2% and 6% by weight of
Cement, or as advised by our Technical Services. SBR LATEX can also be used in successive concrete coats to avoid cold
joints.

*Water content shall be kept at minimum and can be adjusted ±10% depending upon required consistency.

PRECAUTIONS
 Avoid application in direct sun and/or strong wind. Apply only to sound, prepared substrates. Do not exceed
maximum layer thickness.
 For waterproofing or damp proofing applications, always use at least 2 coats.
 In areas of severe water penetration, three coats might be required.
 Protect freshly applied material from rain etc.

HANDLING & STORAGE


18 months from the date of manufacturing when stored in unopened, original sealed and dry condition at a temperature range
from +5⁰C to 40⁰C.

SHELF LIFE
Shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacturing. Store in a cool & dry place in unopened condition (Prevent from direct
sunlight).

PACKAGING:
20 kg, 50 kg.

SAFETY:
Wear hand gloves, safety shoes and safety goggles while using and handling the product.
