Notice Writing
Notes:
A notice is a formal means of communication. The purpose of a notice is to announce or
display information to a specific group of people. Notices are generally meant to be
pinned up on specific display boards whether in schools or in public places. Notices issued
by the government appear in newspapers.

Points to Remember:
• Personal pronouns are not used.
• Use passive form of voice. Write from a third person’s perspective.
• Style & tone of the language should essentially be formal but a notice from an
individual (like lost & found notice) can use informal style as well.
• Strictly follow the format.
• Adhere strictly to the word limit.

Steps to follow:
• Write the notice in a box.
• The name of the issuing authority should be in CAPITAL LETTERS.
• The word ‘NOTICE’
• Follow the date format: XX Month XXXX i.e. 08 May 2018
• A captivating heading/title in CAPITAL LETTERS.
• Include all important details such as date, time, and venue of the event.
• The writer’s signature, name (in block letters) and designa.
