Part 1: Warm-Up & Reading Activation (30 mins)

Objective: Activate prior knowledge and introduce story elements.


Activities:
 Word Cloud (Mentimeter): Students generate words related to
“appearance,” “honor,” and “art.” Discuss how these themes might
appear in the stories.
 Discussion Questions (on screen or Jamboard):
o What makes someone the “best-looking”?

o What does it mean to “honor” someone?

o Can art be healing?

Part 2: Reading & Comprehension Activities (60 mins)


Objective: Practice comprehension and begin textual analysis.
Instructions:
Split the students into 2 pairs (or small group) and assign one story per
pair.
Tasks:
 Read Short Story (selected excerpts if needed):
o Pair 1: The Best-Looking Girl in Town

o Identify 3 main events

o Underline difficult vocabulary and define it

Part 4: Pre-Writing & Graphic Organizers (30 mins)


Objective: Organize ideas for summaries or future essays.
Activity:
Each student picks one of the three stories and creates a:
 Mind Map or Plot Diagram

o Focus on: beginning, conflict, climax, resolution

Instructions:
 Highlight emotions, key decisions, setting changes
 Use color coding

 Use the organizer created in the previous activity

 Exchange summaries
 Comment: “What is clear?” “What is missing?”
