WHY SHOULD YOU NOT REVERSE
YOUR HAIR WHILE APPLYING
SHAMPOO ?
WHY SHAMPOO SHOULD
BE APPLIED FROM ROOTS OF
THE HAIR?
STEPS TO FOLLOW WHILE DOING SHAMPOO
• Washing your hair in the reverse direction leads to hair fall. This is because as
our hair becomes wet, it becomes heavy due to water weight and leads to
loosening of our cuticles and hence hair fall starts.

• Shampoo to be applied in the direction of your hair. Do not wash your hair in
the reverse direction (from down to up)

• Shampoo should be used by diluting in water. Spread the shampoo with the
help of finger tips and not with palms. This helps in avoiding tangles and
longetivity of hair strands.
•Shampoo should be done –dry hair - maximum of two
times a week, while oily hair types may require washing on
a daily basis. If you have normal hair and don't suffer from
dryness or oiliness, you have the luxury of washing your
hair whenever you feel like.

•If hair is visibly oily, scalp is itching, or there's flaking due

to dirt those are signs - it's time to shampoo
WHY CONDITIONER SHOULD
BE APPLIED FROM HAIR TIP
TO THE ROOTS OF THE HAIR?
STEPS TO FOLLOW WHILE DOING CONDITIONER

• Dry Hair (without dandruff) – to be applied from top to end of hair length

• Dry Hair (with dandruff) - to be applied to the tip of the hair first and balance
conditioner which is left on your palms on the
rest of the hair

• For Combination Hair - First apply on the tip of the hair and then on the
rest of the hair

• For Oily hair - As such not required as natural oil which is being
secreted, conditions the hair. But can be used
once in a week.
Some important points to be taken care-off

❖ Do not apply conditioner on your scalp.

❖ Do not massage the conditioner on your scalp
❖ Just spread the conditioner on your hair, leave for 5-10 minutes and rinse off
with plenty of water
❖ No traces of conditioner should remain on your hair – failing which may lead to
white hair, dandruff , hair fall and hair lice.
❖ Conditioner should be applied after every hair wash – which leads to healthy
cuticles
❖ Conditioner helps you to manage your hair, locks-in natural moisture and gives
shine to your hair

HEALTHY HAIR = CLOSED CUTICLES

Ideal time to apply hair oil
10 reasons why oiling is good for your hair
✓ Nourishes your hair
✓ Stimulates hair growth
✓ prevents hair breakage
✓ promotes a healthy scalp
✓ moisturises dry, brittle hair
✓ gives shine and softness to the hair
✓ prevents split ends
✓ delays greying of hair
✓ combats damage caused by pollution
✓ is all natural
• Oil should always be applied on clean scalp i.e after shampoo. After shampoo
our pores are cleaned and hence the oil penetrates our hair
roots through the pores and makes our roots strong and healthy
•Hair oil should not be kept on scalp for more number of days. It only attracts
dust.
• Hair oil penetrates within 4 hours which is absolutely sufficient for
miniaturisation.

STRONG ROOTS LEADS TO HEALTHY HAIR STRANDS

•It should be avoided before shampoo as normally we wash our hair when our
scalp is filled with dirt, perspiration and oil.
•The purpose of oiling is not served as it does not enter our hair roots since our
pores are blocked. This tends to more usage of shampoo which in return
damages our hair.
HOW TO AVOID
TANGLES?
How To Prevent Your Hair From Tangling
1. Lack Of Hydration

When your hair lacks moisture, it leads to friction and tension in your hair, which
then cause tangles. The outer layers of your hair shaft break, which results in a
rough and damaged look. Lack of hydration can also deteriorate the condition of
your hair.

2. Sleeping With Your Hair Down

Sleeping without braiding or tying your hair up can lead to some serious tangles.
Another major no-no is going to bed with wet hair. Hair is most fragile when it is
wet. It can get frizzy quickly and break easily.
3. Not Combing
Not brushing your hair daily is a major threat to your hair. With no combing, the oil or residue
that is built up over time can disrupt the health of your hair.

4. Untrimmed Dry Ends

Going long periods without trimming your hair results in split ends and frizzy hair. Dry ends also
tend to break easily. And once your hair splits, it cannot be repaired. It remains dry and causes
frizziness. Dry, frizzy strands and split ends can tangle your hair easily.

5. Damaged Cuticles
Constantly heat styling or blow drying can make your hair shafts break and cause friction,
resulting in knots. When your hair is damaged, its external layers get scraped off, leaving the
inner layer (the cortex) exposed and unprotected. This accelerates the damage on your cuticles.
How to get rid of tangles ?
1. Condition Your Hair

Merely shampooing your hair is not good enough. Always finish with a moisture-
locking conditioner. This helps your comb slip through your hair without any
obstacles. Conditioner smoothens your hair and softens dry strands effectively.

2. Use A Wide-Toothed Comb

It is best not to use a tailed comb or a round brush on tangled hair. They can tear
open the shafts and cause further damage. Instead, use a wide-toothed comb as it
removes knots without pulling on your hair too much. Always start at the ends and
work your way up to the roots.
3. Use Detangling Products

Products like detangling sprays, leave –in serums, and conditioners can undo knots
effectively. They soften dry strands and eliminate interweaves. If a gigantic knot is
troubling you, apply some detangling product on it and the area surrounding it.
Massage your tresses and gently brush downwards through the knot. You may also
use your fingers to separate the tangles.

4. Apply Hair Masks

Applying a hair mask once a week can improve your hair texture drastically. It
hydrates and smoothens your dry cuticles, leaving your locks silky and soft.
5. Oil Your Hair Regularly

To give your hair a healthy dose of moisture, you need to oil it on a regular basis.
Organic coconut oil is an excellent way to show some love to your locks. Massage
some warm coconut oil over your dry scalp and watch the wonders. This trick
works great on all hair types. To get long-lasting results, you can mix coconut oil
and olive oils.

6. Rinse With Cold Water

This is a simple yet effective step. Rinse your locks with cold water at the end of
your shower to close your cuticles and prevent any breakage. Doing so also keeps
rough and dry strands at bay.
7. Avoid Using Heat Styling Tools

Heat styling tools like blow dryers, straighteners, and curling irons can take a toll on your
delicate locks. It can dry out your hair, which then leads to tangling. To avoid this, use the
tools on low to medium heat settings. You can further avoid damage by applying a heat
protectant (styling cream or mousse)
before using heat styling tools on your hair.

8. Go Easy With The Towel

Twisting and rubbing your hair with a terrycloth (hard) towel vigorously immediately
after a shower can cause a great deal of hair fall and breakage. It also disturbs the
structure of the cuticles, resulting in split ends and frizzy hair. Instead, gently squeeze
your hair with a towel and let it air dry. Microfiber (soft) towels are the best options to
get quality results. We even get ready made small soft towels with a button on it which
just fits your hair
Tips to fix tangled hair
Always use your fingers to detach the knots before using a comb. This can
reduce the size of the knots substantially and make detangling less painful.

Section your hair before detangling it. This can make your work way more
manageable.

Brushing wet hair can result in hair fall. Instead, use your fingers to remove any
knots and tangles right after you step out of the shower.

Avoid using styling products that leave a residue as they will contribute in
knotting your hair.
Use a leave-in conditioner right after you wash your
hair. Not only will this make your hair more
manageable, but it will also reduce frizz.

Wear a scarf or a hat when stepping out to protect

your hair from the sun, wind, dust, and pollutants.

Oil your hair strands with a natural oil an hour before

shampooing it.
How to remove
dandruff ?
What is Dandruff ?
Dandruff is a condition in which dead skin cells are shed from the scalp.
Almost half of the world's population experiences an unusually large amount
of skin flaking that can be chronic . The condition is often accompanied with
some redness or irritation of the scalp.

Dandruff is a condition of the scalp that causes flakes of skin to appear. It is

often accompanied by itching. Dandruff itself does not cause hair loss.
However, severe dandruff can cause a person to scratch their scalp so hard that
they injure it. Repeated inflammation in the hair follicles can cause damage,
slowing or stopping hair growth. This can cause weak or thinning hair.
People who prefer natural remedies, may try tea tree oil shampoo or
neem shampoo. Tea tree oil and neem has antimicrobial properties.

People whose dandruff does not improve with home treatment should see a
doctor. Identifying the cause of the dandruff — which could be a bacterial or
fungal infection

The idea that poor hygiene causes dandruff is a myth, but washing and
brushing the hair can help remove old skin flakes.

Going long periods of time without shampooing, however, may make

dandruff more visible, but it can be embarrassing and difficult to treat.

As per research it has not been fully understood what causes dandruff, it is
unclear if it can be prevented.
In most people, dandruff is a chronic condition that tends to go away and
then come back. While some people think that lifestyle changes improve
their symptoms.

It may be possible to prevent dry scalp by:

using less irritating shampoos

switching to a moisturizing shampoo
shampooing the hair less frequently using oil
to keep the skin from getting dry drinking
more water
Shampoos and scalp preparations
Before using an anti-fungal shampoo, individuals should carefully try to remove
any scaly or crusty patches on the scalp, as far as possible, This will make the
shampoo more effective.

Ingredients to look out for

Most anti-dandruff or anti-fungal shampoos contain at least one of the following

active ingredients:

Ketoconazole: An effective anti-fungal. Shampoos containing this ingredient

can be used at any age.

Selenium sulfide: This reduces the production of natural oils by glands in the
scalp. It is effective at treating dandruff.
Zinc Pyrithione : This slows down the growth of yeast.

Salicylic acids: Salicylic acid works by helping get rid of scaly skin and
loosening flakes so that they can be removed. It is found to be more
effective in reducing the severity of scaling

The best strategy is to select a shampoo containing one of these

ingredients and shampoo the hair every day until the dandruff is under
control.

After this, they can be used less frequently.

Alternating dandruff shampoo with regular shampoo may help. A specific

shampoo may stop being as effective after some time. At this point, it
may be a good idea to switch to another shampoo.
