● Full if in their deep exaltation & Half if in their deep debilitation degree.
If they are placed in between these 2 then the age can be worked out
according to ratio proportion.

● Pind ayu in lunar years and then you convert to solar year

The procedure
1. Convert Longitude into degree - full longitude – Sign – Degree –
Minutes
Ex – if a planet is at 5* in Capricorn, then convert it into degree 9 s 5’
00” = 9s X30’ = 270* + 5* = 275’
2. Deduct the longitude of the deepest exaltation points of the planets
from their converted degree. This gives the ARC of longevity
3. If the result is less than 6 Rashi (180*) then deduct the result figure
from 360*. But if then result is more than 180* (6 rashi) then take it
as it is.
4. Calculate the years given by each planets –
Full term of planet X arc of longevity/ 360* = Ratio
proportion = the years contributed by the planet
5. Work out the age provided by all planets except Ra/ke and Lagna.
6. Carry out the hanaran samskara

✔ Astageta haran
✔ Shatru kshetra haran
7. Add the Auy
8. If any malefic planet is placed in the lagna then carry out Krudaya
harana – Kruroday haran क्रुरोदय हरण
9. Calculate lagna ayu
10. Add the lagna ayu to previously calculated ayu to get the final
pindayu in the “Savan” years – 360 days
11. Convert “Savan” years into Solar Years (360* days years into
365 days years) SY X 360/ 365 – final pindayu
Pindauy controversy -
✔ Yavanacharya Maya (non Indians), Prashar & Manitha agree with the
above view.
✔ Jeevasharma (Jeevayu) – Advocates 120 years of poornayu & gives
equal distribution to all the planets 120/ planets = 17.143 years of
each planet
✔ Badarayara – advocates 100 years that is one century as poornayu.
He says after 100 years, auy is increased by performing yoga. Yogic
practices & regularity in life. 100 years/7 planets = 14.28 years of
planet
Harans Reductions
The ayu obtained is subjected to 4 types of haran reductions. VP Goyal
book says only 1 haran (highest) is applied. Not many
1. Chakrapath haran - चक्रपात हरण
Done to planets placed between 7th and 12th house, maximum is in
12th house

If both malefice and benefice planets are placed between 7 -12H
then
a) Moon & Mercury – are not a malefic
b) Sun, Saturn, Mars, Are malefic and Rahu & ketu are not
considered.
c) If more than one planets are placed together in these houses
then the strongest out of them will loose – the rest will not
loose. (how it is strong we will have to judge highest degree)
2. Astangat Haran - अस्तंगत हरण
A combust planet looses half of his ayu obtained after calculating
Chakrapath haran.
● Saturn and Venus are exempted from Astangat haran. Retrograde
planet dosent get haran
3. Shatrukshetra haran - शत्रूक्षेत्रा हरण
If a planet is placed in its inimical sign then after Astangat hraan a
further 1/3 reduction is done.
● Parashari Naisargika (natural friendship) maitree is considered.
Friendship is seen from planets own side (moon is ok in Mer)
● This haran dose not apply to 1. Retrograde planets 2. Mars in
Capricorn (as there is some controversy among astrologers about
mars) in BVB we do the haran
4. Krurodhaya haran - क्रूरोधाया हरण
When one (or more) kaura Grahas (Saturn, mars, sun) are placed in
Lagna then Krurodhaya haran is done, if there are 2 of them the one
closer to lagna degree is the one who looses not all of them.
● Convert the lagna degree (minus the Rashi) into minutes
● Multiply these minutes with the age provided by the planet
concerned after Shatrukshetra haran
● Whatever figure you obtain divide it with 21600 (360* X 60
into minutes)
● Reduce the quotient from the age provided by all the planets
(a) If a benefic aspects the lagna deduct ½ from the quotient
(b)If a planet is also placed in lagna then –
(i) No haran to be carried out if any benefice planet is
placed in lagna and is closer to the degree of lagna.
(ii) Deduct ½ from the quotient if any malefic planet is
placed in lagna & is closer to the degree of lagna.
