9. Please find enclosed herewith the Polytechnic Rules & Regulations which should guide you in
internalizing and practicing the general principles of the Rule of Law. Read this code carefully
and ensure that your parent/guardian has signed at the Space provided in the document. It is
important that you come with both the Code of Rules and Regulations and the admission letter
on the day of reporting to the Polytechnic.
10. LOCATION OF THE POLYTECHNIC
Michuki National Polytechnic is in Iyego Location of Kangema Sub County in Murang‟a
County. To reach Michuki National from Murang‟a town you board Iyego “Matatus” at
MUGOIRI – IYEGO STAGE (OLD CALTEX PETROL STATION) You will alight at
“Michuki National Polytechnic” just at the main gate of
the Polytechnic. Looking forward to receiving you on

GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIPS/FUNDING
Following your placement in this Polytechnic, you are eligible for Government Scholarship, Loan and Bursary to assist with
your education expenses. If you need Government financial support, you MUST make an application for consideration
through the official website www.hef.co.ke . In case the Government Scholarship, Loan and Bursary do not cover the entire
cost of your program the deficit will be met by your Parent/Guardian.

STUDENTS’ CODE OF RULES AND REGULATIONS
A) GENERAL MINAP RULES
1. All students shall conduct themselves sensibly and with decorum.
2. All boarding students shall be within the College compound by 7 p. m. Those contravening
this rule will be warned once and if caught the second time they will be denied a boarding
opportunity.
3. Day scholar/commuting students are allowed to use the library up to 9:00 pm after which
they shall leave the compound.
4. Duty Master, Dean of Students, Deputy Principal will be at your disposal to help in case of
any difficulty and they are your custodians in the absence of your Parents/Guardians. Please
do not hesitate to approach them.
5. The Polytechnic shall not be held responsible for the damage caused by a student (s)
within oroutside the Polytechnics compound.
6. Use or possession of narcotic drugs within the Polytechnic regardless of time is highly
prohibited. Going against this rule will lead to immediate suspension from the Polytechnic
pending the decision of the M.T.T.I disciplinary committee and the Council.
7. Vandalism is a criminal offence and it will be punishable according to the laws of the land
and shall lead to immediate expulsion from the Polytechnic

B. CLASS ATTENDANCE:
1. Attendance of classes, lectures, workshops practices, seminars and other such scheduled
courses of instructions is compulsory. Non- attendance or non-participation due to illness or
other good cause must be authorized by subject tutor/ head of Department. Continued
absence from tuition without permission constitutes a justification for expulsion from the
course.
2. Field studies, study visits „on „job . and industrial attachments are part of college programs.
All students must attend to the above when required to do so.
3. All assignments, CATS and exams are compulsory.
4. All students must be punctual for lectures and other scheduled programs.
5. All students are responsible for cleaning their lecture rooms.
6. All students are required to report to the Polytechnic on the first day of the term.
C.BOARDING
Students wishing to use the college boarding facilities shall strictly adhere to the following
regulations:
1. All students shall reside in the room allocated to them on admission. Changes can only be
allowed with the consent of the Dean of Students.
2. Students are responsible for cleanliness of their own rooms.
3. Ladies students are strictly not allowed to visit the men‟s hostels. Male students are strictly
not allowed to visit the ladies‟ hostels.
4. Any broken items must be reported to the HOD/Head of Section as soon as it is noticed.
Failure to report any broken item will result to being charged for replacement or repair.
5. Electrical system shall not be tampered with and no illegal connection should be done. Any
student found with an illegal connection will be expelled from the hostels.
6. Electrical appliances shall not be used in the hostels unless with the written permission from
the principal. Such appliances will first be inspected before authority for their use in the
hostel is granted.
7. Students are required to report any problem arising in the hostels to their respective hostel
representatives.
8. The administration reserves the right to admit students into its boarding facilities.
D. DINING HALL RULES:
1. Meals are served in cafeteria system on production of a meals receipt.
2. If a student is sick, the Dean of Students should be informed promptly.
3. Complains involving the dining hall facilities and services should be channeled through the
students‟ leaders/Dean of Students.
4. Use of vulgar or disrespectful language to the kitchen staff or failure to obey dining hall rules
will result to withdrawal of dining hall services to the affected student.
E. HOUSE KEEPING
1. No furniture meant for specific venue (i.e.) classes, dining hall, offices or workshops should
ever be taken to the hostels.
2. It will be the responsibility of the students to take care of their beds and other hostel furniture.
Any student who breaks any of the items will be required to replace or repair.
3. Any broken item must be reported to the HOD/Head of Section as soon as it is noticed failure
to report will result to being charged for replacement or repair.
F. MEETINGS:
1. Meetings to discuss matters of mutual interest between students, staff and/or administration

shall always be allowed to take place provided:
a) A written notice for the meeting is given at least 5 working days before the proposed date
for the meeting and an agenda included in the notice
b) The date, time, agenda and venue for the meeting are mutually agreed upon by all the
parties concerned with the consent of the administration.
c) The time of the meeting shall not coincide with tuition hours where practically possible.
d) Academic problems shall be solved at departmental meetings. If a solution cannot be
found at the departmental level the problem can be referred to the administration.
G. RESTRICTED AREAS
a) The staff quarters, staff rooms, staff washrooms and kitchen are out of bounds to all
students.
b) Students must use the main gate to access the Polytechnic. Use of any other avenue
willresult to disciplinary action being taken against the offender.
H. TRIPS
a) Students will not be allowed to attend trips without being accompanied by a
Lecturer/Patron.
b) Students on any trip will be required to display good behavior and respect to their
lecturers and the people in places they visit. Misconduct like Drunkardness, refusal to
take orders from lecturers and deliberate delays will lead to cancelling of future trips and
other disciplinary measures taken as deemed necessary. A student who fails to return to
the vehicle used for the trip fifteen minutes after the agreed time will be left to come back
on his/her own cost. The Polytechnic will therefore not concede to any liability arising
thereof.
I. GROSS MISCONDUCT
Any gross misconduct e.g. stealing, fighting, use of vulgar language, incitement or rape is
criminal and shall lead to expulsion.
J. VISITORS
All visitors will be required to seek permission from the Dean of Students during weekdays and
Master on Duty during weekends. No permission shall be granted after 5.00 pm.
K. ENVIRONMENT
The students are expected to keep the College environment clean. Filth and littering must be
avoided at all times. Destruction of flowers and trees shall be avoided at all times.
L. LANGUAGE POLICY
Students are expected to communicate in English or Kiswahili while in the college to enhance
national unity & cohesion as well as improving their command in the two languages.

Polytechnic‟sManagement.
