take the PROGRAM FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ASSESSMENT (PISA) in March
2025
Date: October 7-11, 2024
Venue: Grade 10 Room
Participants: Grade 9-10 identified learners, 2 Teachers.
Objectives/Agenda:
 Ensure the efficient and secure administration and printing of PISA test
materials, adhering to international standards and timeliness, and
facilitating a fair and reliable assessment for all participating students.
Highlights of the Activity (in narrative or bullet form):
 Manicani National High School and its learners were chosen to be one of
those public school in the division of Eastern Samar to take the Program
for International Student Assessment coming March 2025. In response to
this, the school had initiated and will formulate various activities to
support the call of the division to improve performance level of the
students in taking the test. This activity/ program highlights the school’s
initiatives on ensuring readiness of the learners to take the PISA on March
2025.
 Validation of Learners through LIS with the LIS coordinator and the class
advisers
 Printing and Reproduction of Test papers for Mock Tests.
 Conduct of Orientation Activities for PISA Pre-Test
 Preparation of Materials for PISA Mock/ Pre-Test
 Conduct of PISA pre-test

Results/Output:

 The PISA Pre-test is a valuable tool for assessing student readiness and
identifying areas that need improvement. Educators can use the results to
customize their instruction, develop targeted support programs, and focus
on specific areas that require intervention.

 Conduct a comprehensive analysis of the PISA Pre-test results to identify
strengths, weaknesses, and areas requiring targeted intervention.
 Formulate interventions that will effectively address identified gaps and
enhance student performance.

 Making of Item Analysis.
 Teachers reviewed the scores to identify strengths and weaknesses.
 Discussion of the Pretest during a learning session usually conducted
during NMP periods.
 Facilitated discussions in science classes to address gaps identified in the
pre-test, focusing on critical thinking and application-based learning.

Results/Output:
 Data Result.
 The result of the data revealed a need for strategic focus on developing
students’ scientific literacy and comprehension skills.

 Conduct of Lesson integration in Science.
 Developed a plan to address the weaknesses highlighted in the item
analysis by incorporating differentiated activities and additional exercises.
 Incorporated PISA-style questions into standard science lessons to
strengthen skills related to the test.
 Integrated reading and writing into Science instruction, focusing on
analyzing texts and data.

Results/Output:
 Increased engagement and demonstrated notable improvement in their
understanding of scientific concepts.
 While continued monitoring and adjustments are necessary, the initial
results suggest that these strategic interventions are effectively
addressing the areas that need improvement.
 Some intervention activities were not carried out due to class suspension
and some equally important school activities.

 Students were taught how to make logical inferences and draw
conclusions based on evidence from the text.

 Learners actively participated in the activities.
