Active Voice Passive Voice
Simple Present S + V(1st)+s/es
+O O + is/am/are + V(3rd) + by + S
He writes a letter. A letter is written by him.
They watch TV.
Simple Past S + V(2nd) + O O + was/were + V(3rd) + by + S
They helped us. We were helped by them.
He broke the glass.
Simple Future S + shall/will + V(1st) + O O + shall/will + be + V(3rd) + by + S
She will teach students. Students will be taught by her.

They will play cricket.


Active Passive
Present S + is/am/are + V(1st) + ing + O O + is/am/are + being + V(3rd) + by + S
A letter is being written by me.
continuous I am writing a letter.

They are calling Seema.

Past S + was/were + V(1st) + ing + O O + was/were + being + V(3rd) + by + S


We were helping the poor. The poor was being helped by us.

She has completed the task. The task has been completed by her.

He had taken lunch. Lunch had been taken by him.
Perfect
They had parked the car.
Future S + will/shall + have + V(3rd) + O. O + shall/will + have + been + V(3rd) + by + S
You will have read the book. The book will have been read by you.

I shall have written the letter.
(With object) – Let + object + be + Verb 3rd
Example: Shut the door. - Let the door be shut.
Close the window. -
(Without object) – You are ordered/requested + to + Verb 1st
Example: Go away. - You are ordered to go away.
Keep quiet. -
(Moral suggestion) – Object + should+ be + Verb 3rd
Example: Help the poor. - The poor should be helped.
