Games Games, contests, and competitions Drawing a Blank Geography suddenly seems harder when you're faced with a blank map of the United States. In each round of this game, there are 10 states to find on an unmarked map. To win, correctly identify as many of the states as possible. Number of players: Any number of players can participate in this game. Materials & setup: Print unlabeled U.S. maps (three per player), the state lists (three lists with 10 states each), and the three answer keys. The state lists each have a mix of easier-to-identify states and ones that are more challenging to find. Arrange chairs around one or more tables so there is some wiggle room. (No peeking at other people's maps!) Give each player three blank maps and a colored pencil or marker. (Optional) Have available a whiteboard and dry-erase marker to write each state as well as calling it out. To play: 1 Pick one of the state lists and read the first state aloud. Players color in the state on their map. If they don’t know where the state is, encourage them to take a guess; there is no penalty for mistakes After calling all 10 states, show players the answer key. They should award themselves a point for each state they correctly identified and colored. Players can write their score for the round on their map. Announce the winner(s) of the first round. Take a few minutes to talk about which states were easiest to locate and which were really difficult. Ask people if they lived in or traveled to any of the 10 states. Play the last two rounds and tally the scores from all three to see who the kings and queens of the road are. Variations: Make your own list of 10 states and color in an answer key using an additional unmarked map. Ask people to color in their five favorite states or five states they have visited. Challenge players to write in the names of as many states as possible on an unmarked map. vityConnection.com a Blank - Page 1 of 2 Set #1 California Montana Maine Minnesota Kansas Colorado New Mexico Towa Wisconsin Mississippi State Sets Set #2 Florida Washington Indiana Idaho Nebraska Arkansas Arizona North Dakota Alaska Virginia Set #3 Texas Oregon New York Michigan Ohio Nevada Hawaii North Carolina Louisiana Wyoming (dew yueig) yueIg © Buymesg — woo'uonosuUcgAyANOVe, Aor, Op 9 £40 Z e6e¢ — (Key JoMsuy) NueIg & BuIMesG — Woo'uoseUUCOAIANOVO,
