How Is Nixon Successful
Nixon s Successes
SALT
In 1972, President Nixon engaged in the Strategic Arms Limitation Talks (SALT) with Soviet
Secretary General Brezhnev in his attempt to ease tension with USSR through diplomatic détente.
Focused on limiting, and then ultimately reducing, the number of MIRVs. Negotiations also sought
to prevent both sides from destabilizing the strategic relationship.
Anti Ballistic Missile Treaty
Nixon participated in the Anti Ballistic Missile Treaty, thus diminishing the US Soviet tension by
decreasing the chances of a nuclear weapon war between USSR and the United States.
Was ratified in 1972 between the United States and USSR to limit deployment of missile systems
that could be used to destroy incoming intercontinental ballistic
Everybody Loves Raymond Gender Roles
The 2000s TV show viewed was Everybody Loves Raymond . In this show, a nuclear upper
middle class family is portrayed. Surprisingly, this TV show brings back some traditional gender
roles, as the mother and wife, Debra, is a stay at home mom. While the father and husband, Ray, is
a sportswriter for a newspaper. This is strange because as we progressed through the decades these
traditional genderroles seemed to be eliminated. However, there are still some major difference
from the gender roles seen in the older TV shows like Leave it to Beaver . Although Debra is a
stay at home mom, she appears to be the primary disciplinarian and overall seems to be
considered the head of the household, as she is a very strong woman character. Her husband, Ray,
is portrayed as a goofy, awkward, childish husband and father. He is not a strong and intimidating
authority figure like Ward Cleaver was portrayed. The children in this show follow the same trend
set by those children in the 1990s TV show, they are rather resistant of the parents authority and use
the resistance to authority to gain power over their parents. Once again, we see the woman of the
household take the lead role... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This TV show displays multiple families from multiple different family structures and dynamics.
Portrayed in this TV show are a nuclear family, a blended interracial family, and a same sex marriage
family. The gender roles of the families are similar to the trends we saw in the 1990s and 2000s
TV shows, where the woman takes a strong vocal role in the family. The children also follow the
trends set by previous decades TV shows as they are resistant to authority and rebellious in nature.
This TV show emphasizes the ever changing family structure and dynamic that is currently
occurring in the United States. Families come in all different forms in this modern daytime period,
which is a radical change from what was portrayed in the earlier decades TV
Reoccurring Themes In The Miller s Tale
In Chaucer s, The Canterbury Tales, Chaucer uses many aspects of one tale and incorporates it
into another using many reoccurring themes. Many characters go through similar circumstances
as Chaucer uses these themes to help each tale parallel another. For example, the Wife of Bath s
Tale and The Nun s Priests Tale, uses the theme of textual evidence as a basis of reasoning of men
to overpower women. The two tales that parallel each other the most are The Miller s Tale and The
Summoner s Tale. Nicholas and Absolon of the Miller s Tale act immoral in many ways which the
Friar in the Summoner s tale seems to exhibit. Chaucer uses the characteristics and actions of the
characters in the Miller s Tale to create a character that embodies many aspects... Show more content

The theme of immoral characters becomes quite disturbing when people who claimed to be
devoted to the Lord are partaking in such dishonorable acts. Dishonorable acts such as their
treatment of women show how they neglect their priesthood and are not truly men of God. The
priests within the Miller and Summoner s Tales disregard their vows of chastity and pursue
women in order to fulfill their desires of sex. Absolon, the incense swinger at the church vows for
the love a young married women, Alison. Absolon is fully aware of Alison s marriage, but is still
very persistent in his attempts to try and woo her. One of his schemes to make Alison think
fondly of him involved him sending her, honey wine, mead and spiced.....and as she [lived] in
town, he [proffered] cash (The Millers Tale 88). With his expensive gifts of food and cash leads
readers to believe that he is breaking another vow, poverty. His lust for this one woman drives
him to spend essentially the church s money since priests are supposed to take vows of poverty
and refrain from living gluttonously. His desires for Alison portray him as a clear contrast to what
priests are expected to act like and in a sense, morally corrupt. The Friar within the Summoner s
Tale approaches is women is quite different to that of Absolom. The Friar, upon meeting Thomas s
wife, hugs and kisses her and says, Today I didn t see
The Rivalry Between Queen Elizabeth I And Mary Queen Of Scots
The Renaissance was a period of times during the 1300 s to the 1700 s. During this time thoughts
and ideas flourished across Europe. At that time most of the countries in Europe were governed by
monarchs. Although a large number of those rulers were male, there were a few powerful female
leaders. Queen Elizabeth I of England and Mary, Queen of Scots are prime examples. The thirst for
power among these two sparked the beginning of a long rivalry. This rivalry between Queen
Elizabeth I and Mary, Queen of Scots led to the latter queen s unfortunate downfall.
The Renaissance provoked a flood of ideas amongst the people of Europe. The word Renaissance
means great rebirth , the rebirth being of an interest in art and education(Frey 316). The works ...

Mary was a threat to Elizabeth, but the English queen recognized that Mary was a fellow queen of
another nation, Scotland (Hanson, Queen Elizabeth I ). This meant Elizabeth had to be more
cautious in her attempts to take Mary down. Elizabeth decided to use Mary s speculated crimes
against her to demoralize her reputation to the point that she lost her respected standing as a queen
(Hanson, Queen Elizabeth I ). Elizabeth snuck behind Mary s back; she helped her enemies and
promised to aid those who performed acts of treachery against the Queen of Scots (Hanson, Queen
Elizabeth I ). Elizabeth s wit, one of her most remarkable attributes, would be one of the most
difficult things Mary would have to fight
Community Analysis
Community is like an extended family. We support each other in so many ways, whether it s
volunteering at a fundraiser, offering advice or even just a smile and kind words. I live in a small
town which means a lot of things, but most importantly that I grew up with a strong sense of
community. I ll be graduating with a class of about eighty of my peers this year and I ve gone to
school with about half of these students since Kindergarten. This gave me the opportunity to grow
strong bonds with those around me. These experiences will help me to enrich the sense of community
that UW has worked so hard to create. Helping each other learn and grow has and always will be
important to me.

different when you re in a small town. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Getting good grades has always been important to me, no matter what. During the first two years
of high school I struggled with my science classes. Although I was putting in the time and effort,
some of the concepts were difficult for me to understand and apply. Despite this setback, I have
stayed on the honor roll since 6th grade. However, just being on the honor roll wasn t my end goal.
I was determined to go above and beyond and not settle for anything other than my very best. For me
it s not just about finishing something, but doing it to the best of my abilities.

As a freshman I joined Future Farmers of America. I have enjoyed the opportunities it has afforded
me. Some of these include National Convention, judging contests, community events, and being an
officer. It has been so rewarding to give back to my community and to meet people from all around
the nation who share similar values. Being in FFA has shown me that when each person contributes
it leads to something greater. It has also helped me to find my voice and speak up for what I believe
France s Recent Economic Activity
Global Business Context Assignment 2008 Part 1: France s economic performance over the last 40
years can be illustrated using three main macroeconomic variables; unemployment, inflation and
GDP. When comparing them against each other, we can explain the relationships between each
variable. (A table of the variables can be found in the appendix.) This graph shows that although
there appears to be no direct relationship between GDP and unemployment until after around 1986,
a correlation begins after this point. As we would expect to see, GDP increases as the rate of
unemployment falls and vice versa. Unemployment has been increasing since 1970 and continued
until around 1986, eventually peaking with very high rates of nearly 12%... Show more content on

This part of supply side policy leads to a more efficient use of resources within the public sector
and simultaneously, a reduction in its size. It should allow for investment to increase with no
shift in the aggregate demand curve, avoiding rises in inflation. (Sloman 2005) Tax cuts also
feature heavily in supply side policy and were a key component of the Thatcher and Major
governments between 1979 and 1997. Sarkozy has also proposed tax cuts, capping income tax at
50% for the highest earners. Twinned with making the 35 hour week more flexible by including
tax free overtime in his policy, this reinforces Sarkozy s slogan, work more to earn more .
(bbc.co.uk) This may result in the substitution effect as people spend more time working and less
time on leisure activities. How this will impact on the circular flow of income in the long run is
uncertain as it is unpredictable whether the money will continue to circulate or the French will
be inspired to save. Sarkozy s recently executed policy to reduce the power of labour by passing a
law restricting strikes is also similar to Thatcher s policies which included weakening the influence
of unions, resulting in them losing political pressure. (Sloman 2005) France currently has one of
the lowest levels of trade union membership in Europe at only 9% compared with Germany s 27%,
UK s 29% and Italy s 30%, yet it has
White Tiger
The story White Tiger by Aravind Adiga follows the protagonist Balram in his gradual journey of
being powerless to being a powerful and wealthy entrepreneur in India through a letter that he
writes to the Premier of China. The struggle to wealth is especially challenging in India and is
constantly compared to the metaphor of the Rooster Coop. The metaphor of the Rooster Coop
compares rooster in a cage to servants to their masters. Roosters are stucked in a cage and faces
grave consequence if they dare to escape similarly to servants as the can not leave their masters
and if they dare to challenge their masters and leave they will also face grave consequences. The
Rooster Coop of India perpetuates the division of the rich and the poor. Most lower class people do
not dare to challenge the way that India is structured except for Balram. Balram s ability to... Show
