Suspense In Agatha Christie s And Then There Were None
Most people would thoroughly enjoy a stay on an exotic private island and then afterwards return
to their normal life. However, this is not the case for the ten main characters of Agatha Christie s
novel And Then There Were None. While they have been invited to Indian Island, an island off
the Devon Coast of England, they are never again able to leave it. Each of the ten people has
murdered somebody and has not received consequences for it. Justice Wargrave, the killer, feels
that it is his duty to serve justice on them. He carefully develops a plan to lure each person to Indian
Island, an island off the Devon Coast of England, in order to round everyone up in one place and
ultimately kill them. Through the use of direct quotations from the... Show more content on

To begin with the nursery rhyme, Ten Little Indian Boys , that hangs on the wall in each of the
characters rooms creates suspense. Each person dies in a way similar to one of the deaths in
each verse of the rhyme. The nursery rhyme is scary, as it speaks of death, and foreshadows that
the characters on the island may die soon. At first the people on the island laugh and call the
nursery rhyme remarkably childish. (39) However, they soon start fearing it. If one person dies
the same way as in the nursery rhyme, it may just be a coincidence. As more people die similarly
to the nursery rhyme the reader realizes that the deaths are not accidental. In this way, Christie
turns a fun and lighthearted rhyme into a dark and ominous one. This creates a sense of unease as
the reader and the characters begin to wonder who the next person will be to die and how their
death will connect to the rhyme. Additionally, the mysterious disappearances and reappearances of
Philip Lombard s revolver instill feelings of fear. When the revolver is not with Lombard, it could
mean that somebody is hiding the gun and might be planning to use it. see this disappearance as
being ominous. Moreover, after a while being on the island, Vera Claythorne notices a hook on the

Essay On Eastern European Human Trafficking
Eastern Europe: The Trafficking of People Slavery is when individuals are possessed and
controlled by different persons, and they have limited to no freedom. In Eastern Europe slavery
ended in 1528, but human trafficking has been carrying on for myriads of years. A few decrees did
not stop the appalling crime called human trafficking. By definition human trafficking is current day
slavery; people that are victims are confined and worked until they are physically incapable to any
longer. Many people turn a blind eye to human trafficking. Despite the insignificant efforts of various
governments, Eastern European human trafficking is on the rise, contributing to an increase in the
economic exploration of the victims of human trafficking.
The state of human trafficking has developed through the decade and there has been an increase. In
the year 2000 only eight cases of human trafficking were recorded, soon after in 2008, there were
thirty seven cases reported in forty of the European countries(Sarrica 5). Of those forty countries, ...

On page 314 in the US Department of State human trafficking report, it states ROMANIA:
Government officials have been convicted of human trafficking crimes, and there have been reports
of local officials obstructing trafficking investigations ( US state Department 314). The government
of Romina does nothing to stop human trafficking and has been caught covering up the subject. A
large majority of the Eastern European countries are doing the minim or nothing at all to stop human
trafficking. Although governments such as Hungary have tried to do something, it is not enough
positive to weigh out the negative. Romina s own officials have been caught in the midst of human
trafficking cases, and the police are attempting to cover trafficking up (Deutsche 3). This is

Digital Artifact Analysis Project
From videos about dogs doing cute acts to videos about terrorism in the Middle East, Youtube can
either bring people together or tear them apart from many countries around the world. For my
Digital Artifact Analysis Project I decided to pick a song that I personally love. The song is Closer
by The Chainsmokers. With over 172 million views on Youtube, it is one of the most recognized
songs of this year. This digital artifact would be classified as an entertainment video. While just
appearing as a lovesong of a couple that grew apart, it has many different secret meanings and
ways that people can perceive it. The most powerful line in the song to me is, So baby pull me
closer in the back seat of your Rover, that I know you can t afford. I... Show more content on

It goes, You look as good as the day I met you. I forget just why I left you, I was insane. Stay and
play that Blink 182 song that we beat to death in Tuscon, okay. The girl in this is asking herself
why she left him but if she really thought about it she could come to the conclusion that he had a
drinking problem and he claims to have left her. I think they both want the satisfaction of being
able to say that they left one another so whoever left who is up to anyone s opinion. She believes
that she is insane because she left him because she still has the same physical attraction that he
feels. She wants to rekindle the love that they had as much as he does. The video is still the couple
reliving memories that they captured on their camera. After the second verse it goes into the girl

Poverty and Homicide Essay
Hypothesis
In this study, I will examine the relationship between poverty and homicide. I anticipate that there
will be a significant association between the increase of poverty rates and the increase of homicide
rates. The null hypothesis states that there is no significance relationship between poverty and
homicide. The alternative hypothesis states that there will be a significant relationship between
poverty and homicide. The two theories I found to explain the increase of poverty and homicide
rates in the urban community are Merton s strain theory and Shaw and McKay s social
disorganization theory. Merton s strain theory states that social structures limits access to the goal of
success through legitimate means (Lilly et al., 1995, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sample size is a non probability sampling. The problem with non probability sampling is that
an element being drawn is not known, so there is no way to tell if the sample chosen represents the
population (Madden Walker, 2005, p. 333). Although there are slight problems in using a non
probability sampling, it is more convenient, less expensive, and easier to collect data than other
sampling methods (Madden Walker, 2005, p. 333).
Data Collection and Measurement
The independent variable is poverty and the dependent variable is homicide. I use Economic
Research Service (ERS), U.S. Census Bureau, and The Federal Bureau Investigation s (FBI)
Uniform Crime Report (UCR) for secondary sources.
The units of analysis being studied are States. The data measurements on poverty were taken from
the United States Census Bureau. The U.S. Census Bureau uses a set of income thresholds of
various family sizes and composition to determine who falls under the poverty guidelines (U.S.
Census Bureau, Poverty, 2010). The income used to compute poverty status is money before taxes
and does not include capital gains or noncash benefits, such as public assistance and Medicaid (U.S.
Census Bureau, Poverty, 2010). If a family s income total is less than the family s threshold, then the
family or individuals are considered to be in poverty (U.S. Census Bureau, Poverty, 2010). The same
poverty thresholds are used throughout the United States
Guy Fawkes Beliefs In King James I Of England
In my opinion, king James of England disliked Catholics because he didn t want his land under
Catholicism. He was a Protestant. England was under a majority Protestantism. He protected
Protestant rule.

Catholics spoke Latin although it was a dead language. Europe was under a majority Catholicism.
Later Germanic countries split off from Roman Catholicism, as many Germanic speaking people
couldn t understand or write Latin, or didn t accept Roman religious law. They called new Protestant
religions for Anglicanism, Lutheranism, Calvinism and Baptism. European rulers were against the
Pope and Catholicism.

King James ordered all Catholic priests to leave England. Catholics felt in depression. Catholic
priests argued with Protestants. Catholics went to fight against the English Protestants. King James
discriminated against English Catholics.

Christabel deals with the female character. Coleridge wrote this poem in a very thematically way.
He wrote this in a beautiful way like his precedent works as in Kublai Khan. He has written this
poem in a lesbian and feminist issues of the poem. Christabel is a poem influenced by Edgar
Allan Poem. It is also said that his poem The Sleeper (1831) is written in the same framework.
Christabel is his poem of realization of affectivity as well as poetic form. In this poem, poet has
given the idea about a contrast between two things at a same time. On first hand he was dealing
with good and evil and on the other side he was dwelling among purity and motiveless malice.
Christabel is on good side and Geraldine showing evil elements. She trying to attract other by her
evil tricks and spelled upon Christabel. She was under her influenced and she got the idea that there
is a conflict among dark and light. Coleridge is of the view that anyone who loses her dignity, must

Interview With a Walgreens Manager Essay
Since 1901, Walgreens has had a strong passion for customer service. The founder, Charles
Walgreens, goal was to create a drugstore that was like no other. He said that for as many
drugstores as he had worked at, he had never worked for one that had a focus for good customer
service and low prices. Walgreens has grown by leaps and bounds since 1901 and is now
recognized as the leader in the market with over 7000 stores. Charles Walgreen had an eye for
good managers. He said he was able to pick people that he knew were smarter than him so to
promote them and make them the heads of his drugstores. As a store manager, not only is it your job
to run a store which includes ordering, customer care, and inventory control, but also it is your...

I believe this may be one of the only job types out there where everything is up to one person. To
become a store manager is not easy. This involves longevity with the company, college education,
previous management experience, and have been an assistant manager and executive assistant
manager for a total of 3 years with the company. While Walgreens has its credentials it expects
from an applicant on paper, my interviewee feels that it is much more than that. When asked what
KSAOs he suggests for one to be a good store manager he said number one they must possess
strong leadership. He stated that one can have 10 degrees form the best universities and have the
best interviewing skill and they might even get the job but once in the position to succeed, they
must possess leadership or they will fail. His definition of leadership was unique. He pulled a
piece of paper out of his wallet and gave it to me. It said No one could be a great leader unless he
takes genuine joy in the success of those under him W. A. Nanc. He stated that the company will
tell you 30 things to do in a day and want them to be done by the end of the day but it is crucial to
ask yourself what is best for the customer and make the decision. This leads to the second KASO
necessary; be a decision maker. With the economy the way it is, he suggested, and with the cutbacks
that the company has made, we have to
Ethnocentrism Is A Basic Attitude Expressing The Belief...
ETHNOCENTRISM

Ethnocentrism is a basic attitude expressing the belief that one?s own ethnic group or one?s own
culture is superior to other ethnic groups or cultures, and that one?s cultural standards can be applied
in a universal manner. The term was first used by the American sociologist William Graham Sumner
(1840?1910) to describe the view that one?s own culture can be considered central, while other
cultures or religious traditions are reduced to a less prominent role. Ethnocentrism is closely related
to other attitudinal indicators for racism, xenophobia, prejudice, mental closure, and, more generally,
an authoritarian personality structure. Ethnocentrism is widely used in research on social and
political attitudes because it proves to be a very powerful and easily identifiable attitude that can be
measured in a valid manner with a limited number of variables. Although ethnocentric prejudice can
be directed toward one specific outsider group, empirical research reveals that usually ethnocentrism
is generalized toward all outsider groups.

Although ethnocentrism is closely related to racism, it can be distinguished from racism because it
does not involve necessarily a negative vision toward other races. Any culturally distinct outsider
group (whether the distinction involves language, religion, color, or descent) can be targeted by
ethnocentric attitudes. In practice, European researchers often tend to avoid using the
term?racism?because they are reluctant to apply the
