Silence Of The Lambs Thomas Harris Analysis
Silence of the Lambs is a mystery drama based off the novel by the same name, which was written
by Thomas Harris. Within the story, the viewer is introduced to two different types of serial killer
through the medium of Clarice Starling, the film s protagonist.
Though previous works state that Hannibal does not fit any psychological profile , Hannibal seems
to fit the stereotypical tropes presented by the media on serial killers. Through Starling s interactions
with him, the audience can see that Hannibal is methodical and clever, able to steer and manipulate
his conversations with Starling in the direction as he pleases, yet courteous and self aware as he
apologizes for another inmate s actions. This advanced mental capability and stability makes the
infamous serial killer the perfect foil for the actual antagonist of the story, Buffalo Bill. ... Show more

Buffalo Bill, whose real name is Jame Gumb, is a fictional character who was created by Thomas
Harris to serve as the overarching antagonist of both the film and novel. Thomas Harris seemed to
have drawn from a variety of different real life serial killers during the creation of this character.
For example, just like serial killer Jerry Brudos, Jame was abused as a child and abandoned by his
family, left to travel from home to home through the foster care system. Also like Jerry Brudos,
Jame would later find the tools to continue his deviance through the institution that society places
him in for his deviance. As Jame grew into adulthood, his character seems to be more and more like
Edmund Kemper. Though Edmund Kemper was described as an intelligent man while Jame seemed
sub bar in that aspect, he and Jame share a fragile sense of worth. More importantly however, is that
they both outright shared similar first murders, as they both apathetically killed their grandparents to
see what it was like to murder someone. As stated
Benefits Of Unemployment In The United States
Today, over twenty three percent of unemployed workers received state unemployment benefits at
the end of 2014 (Undress4Success). This percent has increased drastically over the past two
years, supporting why many people have lost their jobs. Each individual state sets laws that help
determine that populations benefit entitlements. But an underlying question exists regardless of the
state: should workers receive unemployment benefits? This idea workers should receive
unemployment benefits! History and supporting information support the Catholic Social Teaching
theme of Dignity of Work and Rights of Workers suggesting this fact. People can lose their jobs
unexpectedly, yet these same people need to be able to live. During these challenges,... Show more

Rather the nation s government should be using the money on other things. Like improving
governmental issues such as improving the country/military (Huffington Post). Many politicians
and economists have long sought a secret formula for lowering unemployment in order to address
these tragedies, but these efforts do not address how we have a responsibility to our brothers (New
York Times). Catholics, believe that if tragedy befalls others Christians need to reach out and help
the individual(s). They believe every individual is to be respected and these rights should be

European Trade Routes 1100-1500 Essay
If there was ever an important period historians, and people could put a finger on, this would be it.
This is the important period where the world s countries, kingdoms, and dynasties established trade
routes. This is the period where countries were made and countries were destroyed because of the
importance of trade and the importance of building a fundamental, religious, and economical way of
life. This paper will discuss the goals and functions of trades, and traders, and a historical analysisof
world trade. This paper will also get into world trade patterns, of The Americas, Sub Saharan Africa,
The Indian Ocean, The Silk routes, China and The South China Sea, Europe and The Mediterranean,

Karl Polanyi, a historical anthropologist at Comlumbia University, argued that market economies,
private profit seeking, and capitalism were a peculiar and unnatural way of structuring an economy.
(The Worlds History, Spodek, ch.12, p.375) Polanyi also discussed how back in ancient times,
trading was meant to provide and benefit the whole society, not personal benefit like the free market
economy was. Another historian, Philip Curtin, agreed with Polanyi is many ways; except that there
was historical proof there was individual, personal trading going on in ports and throughout long
distance routes back in the earliest times. (The Worlds History, Spodek, 2001, Ch. 12)
Trade patterns in The South Americas included the Andes Mountains. When The Incas controlled the
land in the early 15th century, the people generated extensive trade throughout the hundreds of miles
north and south linking together a total of 32 million people. With so many mountains and zones to
deal with, many products came out of this to trade, including potatoes, maize, chili peppers, squash,
beans and others. Trade between these zones of the north and south, were controlled by semi divine
state rulers. In the Yucatan of Central and South America the Mayan people blossomed from 200

Clark County Museum Essay
The field trip to the Clark County Museum was a hot, but enlightening experience. Different aspects
of Nevada, especially the Clark county region, were presented through technological advancements
and the evolutions in the culture of those who lived in the area. The most interesting part of the tour
was going through the homes on Heritage Street. It was very intriguing to see how the era heavily
influenced the houses and the way of life during the time. The time was reflected on the different
aesthetic and functional aspects of the houses.
Many of the houses exteriors resemble the style that people attempt to mimic in today s
neighborhoods to create a nostalgic connection for those who seek that feeling. The interior design
is where the differences in each house can be found. For example, during the 1920s the homes were
simple and lacked the amount of technology that houses found later in time had implemented. The
houses in the past were smaller and composed of: a parlor room with with a piano and few seats, a
small kitchen, a family room, a dining room, and some of the bed rooms. The mannequins wore
clothes that were popular during the era; they were posed doing actions that normal life was
composed of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the houses were from the late 1940s, there was an abundance of American World War II
memorabilia and propaganda. The news papers from the time contained articles headlined with the
Japanese people referred to as, Japs, and comic strips that emphasized giving as much as possible
for the country the house also contained pictures and paintings from the time; some were of
different airmen of World War II, and others were of Nevada, specifically Boulder City being
developed. The house from this time period was the most interesting for me because World War II is
one of the more fascinating, though horrible, events that the entire world was
Rise Of Buddhism
Many historians believe that Buddhism was originated in northern India in the 5th century.
Buddhism emerged after social, political, and religious changes were happening in northern Italy.
The founder of Buddhism was Siddhartha Gautama, often referred to as Buddha. The religion began
when Siddhartha realized the suffering of this world and decided to come up with a cure. He wanted
to free humans from suffering. That was his intention when founding Buddhism: to lead the living
beings to permanent liberation of suffering. He began his teachings of enlightenment after he had
been in an enlightened state. After Buddha s realization of humans suffering, he gathered many
followers. One of Buddhism s group of followers is the sangha,
Jane Eyre and The Great Gatsby
Jane Eyre and The Great Gatsby are two very intresting novels which are very eye opening to one
about how society is and the main message I got especially from Jane Eyre is that money is not
always the answer to personal happiness and love. Both novels believed in moral convinction where
you believe in one viewbook and it does not change for the better or worse.
Jane Eyre is a very intresting novel as soon as you open it the first few chapters are shocking as it
shows you two big themes one of which is class and the other is gender. In 1947 people would
judge you depending on your class and people in society would judge you and treat you by where
you are in the hierarchy tree. Another big theme was gender women were treated as third class
citizens no freedom at all. Jane Eyre was a novel about an orphan who is adopted into this
wealthy family. However she feels completely out the circle and not part of there family. The
family certainly did not make her feel part of them either they first saw her as poor because she
came from a poor background even though now she is adopted in there family they still saw her
like that and secondly she was a girl so that made things worse and those two combinations were
not good. At one point in the novel Mr reed said to her You have no business to take our books;
you are a dependant, mamma says; you have no money; your father left you none; you ought to beg,
and not to live here with gentleman s children like us . . he is telling her

Management Summary

Please provide a summary of the information detailed throughout this project proposal.

As requested by SITP Ltd, I ve been reviewing and updating the specifications of the Con Man
Project which was originally designed by Endless Journey Ltd in 2006.

The aim of this project is travel without the necessity of the traveler taking numerous documents,
cards etc. As an employee of SITP Ltd, my proposal is to design a credit card sized device that holds
your credit cards, debit cards, gift cards, rewards cards and other important documents, allowing
you to swap from card to card based on your requirements. The owner of the card can store up to 6
cards on the physical card at one time. You can store an unlimited amount of accounts in the app,
and it s as easy as dragging and dropping to swap which ones are loaded on the card. In order to
give better user experience, the Con Man card will come out to the market with the independent
feature.

Project Goals

Colorado River Pollution
Pollution in the Colorado River

By

Axia College

The Colorado River supplies water to most of the southwestern United States and despite this fact,
pollution levels are continually rising and in some cases above acceptable limits. The Colorado
River supplies and runs through five states and during some parts of the year to the Mexican border.
During the rivers journey various types of pollutants come into contact to with it degrading the water
quality downstream. The river water benefits humans in multiple ways the first obvious answer is by
drinking it. Farming and other agricultural uses demand 60% and sometimes as much as 90% of its
water. Using polluted water for irrigation passes the contaminants into the crops and ultimately ...

In 2005, the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) formed the Clean Colorado
River Alliance (The Alliance) under a recommendation from then Governor Janet Napolitano. The
Alliance s first task was to develop recommendations for dealing with current water problems in the
Colorado River. Next, address the water quality of the river for human sustainability now and into the
future. Lastly develop an action plan for dealing with the pollution issues of the river; The Alliance
delivered the final report to Governor Napolitano in December 2005.

The preliminary report outlined a partnership plan modeled after the Chesapeake Bay Program.
Although major differences exist between the Colorado River cleanup project and the Chesapeake
Bay reclaim project, the fundamental principles of a successful program are similar. The final report
delivered to Governor Napolitano is a detailed look into the major pollutants contained in the river
system. The Alliance detail seven pollutants devoting a chapter to each one, including an action plan
for dealing with the pollutant individually. The six pollutants covered are nutrients, metals,
endocrine disrupting compounds, perchlorate, bacteria and pathogens, salinity/total dissolved solids,
and sediments and suspended solids.

The Alliance s report gives a comprehensive action plan for reducing the amount of pollution in and
river and improving overall water
The World s Largest Proven Oil Reserves
Introduction
Canada holds the distinction of having World s 3rd largest proven Oil reserves. The province of
Alberta alone contains 98% of all these reserves, discovered in Canada (1). This is why Alberta
holds the key position in Canadian economy as Canada is the fourth largest exporter of the oil
and it makes up almost one quarter of Canada s exports as well as Gross Domestic Product
(GDP). Almost 99% of Alberta oil reserves are contained in oil sands and the remaining 1% are
present as conventional crude oil. According to an estimation, Oil sands contain up to 168 billion
barrels of oil and conventional crude oil makes up to 1.5 billion barrels (1). But, with the passage of
time, there has been a shift in the global economy with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Less than a hundred years later, in 1875 the first ever government sponsored geological study was
carried out by John Macoun. Charles Mair, a recording secretary traveling with the David Laird
Treaty expedition of 1899, described the future of Athabasca river region as substance of great
economic value . In his words when the hour of development comes, it will, I believe will prove
out to be a wonder of North Canada . He even mentioned the boiling process, which was then used to
liberate oil from the oil sands mixture. The same process, with technological advancement, is used
today in most of the oil production industry (1).
Commercial Development of the oil sands started with the start of 20th century. Initially, the focus
was not to produce energy from the oil sands but to use them as road paving material but it could not
compete with the imported asphalt and so the project was abandoned. In his book, William Stewart
Herron, father of petroleum industry in Alberta , R.C Macleod wrote about how an unsuccessful
entrepreneur from Ontario traveled to Alberta and established Calgary Petroleum Products Ltd.

of Oil Sands was still complex and could not get much help till 1926 when Dr. Karl Clark began
work on Oil sands in Alberta Research Council on the energy focussed project and he nearly

and Abenaki tribes. In the Abenaki tribe they settled in Vermont, until they got kicked out of the state

temporary settlements and living off of the food they hunted and the skin they perished of of the
animals that were hunted. Both of these very interesting tribes used every single part of the animals
that they would hunt. The fur was used as coats, the meat for food, the dung for energy, and so
