Award of the Diploma
Each subject is graded on a scale of 1 to 7, with 7 being the highest.
TOK and the EE are graded on a scale of A to E, with A being the highest.
TOK and EE grades are combined using the Diploma Points Matrix, contributing up to 3 additional points.
The maximum diploma score is 45 points:
•Subject grades: 6 × 7 = 42
•Core (TOK + EE): max 3
•Total: 42 + 3 = 45
CAS must be completed to be eligible for the diploma.
A minimum of 24 points is required to be awarded the diploma.
80% attendance is compulsory, requiring a minimum of 240 teaching hours for HL subjects and 150 hours
for SL subjects, with the remaining 20% of absences needing valid documentation to be submitted upon
request.

Diploma Requirement
A candidate will not qualify for the award of the diploma if certain requirements have not been
met. The following codes indicate which requirements have not been met.
10 Assessment Procedure
Ref: Diploma Programme
Non-Regular Diploma
🔹 What is it?
If a university or college requires a subject combination not available within the regular IB Diploma, a
candidate may be permitted to make a reasonable substitution.
🔹 When is it allowed?
Only if the entry requirements for the proposed higher education course leave no alternative within the
standard subject offerings.
🔹 What is needed?
📄 A formal request must be submitted in advance, and explicit permission must be obtained from the IB.
The request should clearly state the course and country the student intends to pursue, justifying the need
for a non-regular diploma due to specific university entry requirements.
🔍 Example – India (Medical Courses):
For admission to medical programs like MBBS in India, students are required to have Physics,
Chemistry, and Biology — a combination that may not be possible within the standard IB subject group
constraints.
👉 In such cases, a non-regular diploma request may be submitted with proof from the university’s
admission criteria.

IB DP Course / IB Course Certificate
