the correct answer to each of the questions from 39 to 43.
The water cannon salute at airports is now well established. These days, there are a few
reasons why a flight might get a water cannon salute. In addition to a captain retiring, a salute
might mark an aircraft's retirement, the arrival of a new aircraft, the arrival of a new airline into
an airport, or the last flight out of an airport by a particular airline.
Essentially, like most salutes, the water cannon salute is a mark of respect. For example,
when the last Air France Concorde took off from New York's JFK Airport on May 31, 2003,
three Kennedy firetrucks sprayed an arc of red, white, and blue water in front of the plane as it
taxied to the runway for departure.
LaGuardia Airport gave the then-president-elect Donald Trump a water cannon salute back
in 2016. That was when Mr. Trump had to fly in his own Boeing 757 rather than Air Force One.
LaGuardia's gesture was widely noted because Mr. Trump had recently mentioned LaGuardia
when describing his country's airports as "third world."
While there are protocols and unwritten guidelines, there are no hard and fast rules
surrounding water cannon salutes. Unlike the Delta salute back in the 1990s, water cannon
salutes are no longer ad hoc spur of the moment events. They have to be applied for and
approved. Every airport will have different rules and conditions regarding them.
Question 39: Which of the following can be the best title for the passage?
A. The Last Flight Out of an Airport
B. Use of an Arc of Red, White, and Blue Water
C. Water Cannon Salute at LaGuardia Airport
D. Mark of Respect with A Water Cannon Salute

Read the following passage and mark the letter A, B, C, or D on your answer sheet to indicate
the correct answer to each of the questions from 44 to 50.
The impact of vaccination on the incidence of long COVID differs across studies, in part
because of differing study methods, time since vaccination and definitions of long COVID. One
study indicated no significant difference in the development of long COVID between vaccinated
individuals and unvaccinated individuals; other studies indicate that vaccines provide partial
protection, with a reduced risk of long COVID between 15% and 41%, with long COVID
continuing to impact 9% of people with COVID-19.
The different SARS-CoV-2 variants and level of (and time since) vaccination may impact
the development of long COVID. The UK’s Office for National Statistics found that long
COVID was 50% less common in double-vaccinated participants with Omicron BA.1 than in
double-vaccinated participants Delta, but that there was no significant difference between triple-
vaccinated participants; it also found long COVID was more common after Omicron BA.2
infection than after BA.1 infection in triple-vaccinated participants, with 9.3% developing long
COVID from infection with the BA.2 variant.
The impact of vaccination on long COVID symptoms in people who had already developed
long COVID differs among patients, with 16.7% of patients experiencing a relief of symptoms,
21.4% experiencing a worsening of symptoms and the remainder experiencing unchanged
symptoms.
Reinfections are increasingly common. The impact of multiple instances of COVID-19,
including the rate of long COVID in those who recovered from a first infection but developed
long COVID following reinfection, and the impact of reinfection on those with pre-existing long
COVID is crucial to understand to inform future policy decisions. Early research shows an
increasing risk of long COVID sequelae after the second and third infection, even in double-
vaccinated and triple-vaccinated people. Existing literature suggests multiple infections may
cause additional harm or susceptibility to the ME/CFS-type presentation.
There is also early evidence that certain immune responses in people with long COVID,
including low levels of protective antibodies and elevated levels of autoantibodies, may suggest
an increased susceptibility to reinfection.
Question 44: Which of the following can be the best title for the passage?
A. Impact of Vaccines, Variants and Reinfections
B. The UK’s Office for National Statistics
C. Patients Experiencing a Relief of Symptoms
D. Certain Immune Responses in People with Long COVID

A. availability B. responsibility C. sensibility D. equality
Question 48: The word that in paragraph 5 refers to ______.
A. immune responses B. early evidence C. people D. long COVID
Question 49: Which of the following is NOT true according to the passage?
A. The development of long COVID depends on SARS-CoV-2 variants and level of vaccination.
B. Long COVID was more common after Omicron BA.2 infection.
C. The impact of vaccination on long COVID symptoms remain the same among patients.
D. The impact of multiple instances of COVID-19 is important to make future policy decisions.
Question 50: Which of the following can be inferred from the passage?
A. Good and suitable vaccines can provide complete protection.
B. Double-vaccinated participants may avoid long COVID.
C. Risk of long COVID stay unchanged after the second and third infection.
D. Long COVID depends on the impact of vaccines, variants and reinfections.
