Group 7

The report details a group activity titled 'Find The Center' aimed at locating the epicenter of a hypothetical earthquake using triangulation. It highlights the challenges of determining the epicenter with data from only two recording stations and concludes that the triangulation method simplifies the process. Visual documentation of the activity is included, showing the group listening to instructions and applying the procedure.

GROUP 7: MEDRANO’S GROUP ACTIVITY COMPLETION REPORT

TITLE: Find The Center

OBJECTIVES: Locate the epicenter using the triangulation method
Q&A:
1. What is the epicenter of this hypothetical earthquake?
- Nueva Ecija
2. What difficulty would you encounter if you only have data from two
recording stations?
- If we only draw 2 circles representing the two stations, it will only
intersect at two points, so the epicenter could either be at any of
the two stations, you can’t clearly determine which one is accurate
without a third station.
3. What is the distance of the epicenter from the seismic station, based
on the distance-time graph?
-

CONCLUSION: It’s “easier” to locate the epicenter using the triangulation

method.
