Activity 3: Read AT HOME all information about education in YOUR COUNTRY
and AROUND THE WORLD! Take note of any interesting things you come across
while surfing the internet.
Education systems around the world have some differences, here are some interesting
facts I learned through social media
- To facilitate disadvantaged children, in Australia, the “School of the Air” broadcasts
lectures via radio signals so that students in remote areas can study at home.
- China is the country that assigns the most homework to children. Shanghai teenagers
spend 14 hours/week studying at home.
- Although modern society tends to equalize gender. Men and women are taught
separately in Iran until they enter university. Even teachers must be the same gender
as the students in their classes.
- Unlike Vietnam, teachers usually retire at around 60 years old for men and 55 years
old for women. America is where you can find the oldest teacher in the world, Agnes
Zhelesnik, 101 years old.
