1.0 INTRODUCTION
Established in 2003 through UPES Act, 2003 of the State Legislature of
Uttarakhand, UPES is an UGC recognized and NAAC Grade A accredited University.

UPES Dehradun offers 150+ specialized courses across B. Tech., BSc., BBA, BA, B. Des.,
LLB. at undergraduate level and M. Tech., MSc., MBA, MA, LLM. programs at post
graduate level. These courses cater to high-growth areas like cloud computing,
mechanical, civil, aerospace, mechatronics, fine arts, big data analytics, public
administration, machine design engineering, computer science, petroleum,
graphic and gaming and many more.

UPES campus in Dehradun, which has been voted amongst the most beautiful
campuses in India, sprawls over 44 acres with world class academic infrastructure,
multimedia enabled classrooms, modern research labs, playing fields, food courts,
hostels and other facilities for all curricular and extra-curricular activities of
students.

UPES faculty comprises of over 650 national and international faculty members. Be
it the world acclaimed lecturers/professors or senior professionals from globally
renowned organizations, UPES has empanelled some of the most respected
academicians and industry experts.

At UPES we take employability of our graduates very seriously and it shows in our
placement figures. In 2029-20 we placed 94% of graduates who were eligible and

UPES has alliances and associations with leading organizations like IBM, Oracle,

Black and many more. The major thrust of these collaborations is to facilitate
curriculum inputs, guest lectures, internships opportunities and joint research and
projects to build strong industry-academia connect.

UPES has expanded its reach across the globe with academic collaborations with
57 partners in 18 countries with the result that 100+ incoming students have been
hosted by UPES in 2019 from France, Canada, Mexico, Turkey, Slovenia, The Gambia,
Kenya, Kazakhstan, Russia, Mauritius, Belize, Bangladesh, Tunisia, and the U.S.A.
UPES is the Chairing university of the Indo-French Academic Alliance (IFA) and the
Vice Chancellor was the President until October 31, 2020. Further, these
collaborations are in form of joint seminars, faculty exchange pr ograms, joint
research, review of Ph. D. theses and mutual exchange of scientific publications.

CORE + SPECIALISATIONS + MINORS + SCHOOL FOR LIFE

The foundation of higher learning at UPES since its inception has been to explore
and promote areas of learning that are innovative and future focused. This has led
to constant evolution in facilitating creative and collaborative learning
engagements for students through realignment of curriculum and exploration of
virtual tools, and open-source courseware; thereby creating borderless learning
and access to limitless information.

The new curriculum framework at UPES, ABLE (Academic Blueprint for Learning
Excellence) is holistic in its overall structure and yet focuses on the individual need
of the student to discover, experience, explore and challenge. The learning is
segmented into core subject studies, core specialism studies, minors/exploratory
subjects, and signature and life skills learning. The latter three are offered by the
newly instituted School for Life.
 SCHOOL FOR LIFE
SFL (School for Life) is an intrinsic part of the composite UPES student experience
and facilitates learning and education that is a balance between what students
want, and what is needed of them as future global citizens and leaders of tomorrow.
With courses designed to equip students with lifelong learning skills, a focus on a
wide range of contemporary issues, and a mandatory social and professional
internship experience that is unique, UPES believes in igniting to inspire the best
version within an individual to better the world.

INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS AND EXCHANGE OPPORTUNITIES

UPES has partnership agreements with other leading universities across the globe
in areas such as student and faculty exchange, joint research, joint lectures,
seminars and workshops, consultative and planning workshops, joint degrees and
articulation.

UPES has welcomed exchange students from countries such as France, Canada,
Mexico, Turkey, Slovenia, The Gambia, Kenya, Nigeria, Kazakhstan, Ru ssia,
Mauritius, Belize, Bangladesh, Tunisia, and the U.S.A and UPES students in turn
have travelled to our partner universities. UPES’ also promotes exchanges and
internships through membership with various international forums.

International students will be eligible to apply for free semester exchange or

internship opportunities abroad in 50+ destinations that we offer across the
world. We will assist them to have this mobility experience alongside our other
UPES students based upon their academic interests and capability (provided
they meet the necessary academic criteria for student mobility) .

ASSOCIATED ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES

The University aspires to conduct Research and Development in diverse areas

aiming to cover the full spectrum, from fundamental and theoretical studies,
through research of relevance to business and industry with practice -based studies
in Energy.

We seek to support each research area with crosscutting functions, including

industry partnerships, knowledge and technology transfer, analysis, and program
integration. We aim towards developing quality research & development, spanning
all three colleges, configured to provide the maximum of opportunities for various
multidisciplinary areas.

To accomplish this, UPES has formed 11 virtual centres/institutes of research, each

working in a strategic area, by bringing together its research expertise, knowledge -
base and key skills into interdisciplinary teams. These centres/institutes represent
our view of the integrated solutions to most pressing energy challenges for the
present society to which we believe our expertise and research can make a real and
lasting contribution.

UPES is now part of Study in India (SII), Ministry of Education, Government of India
to offer business programmes under the SII Scholarship Scheme 2021. Details of

UPES School of Business has been ranked 66 by NIRF among the top Business
Schools in India and accredited “A” grade by the National Assessment and
Accreditation Council (NAAC). UPES School of Business offers undergraduate and
postgraduate programmes such as BBA and MBA Oil & Gas Management, BBA and
MBA Aviation Management (15+ specialisations respectivel y), B. Com (Hons.), BA
Energy Economics, BA Public Policy to name only a few.

2.1 ACCOMMODATION AND LIVING COSTS

Limited on-campus accommodation is available on a first come first serve basis

with separate hostels for boys and girls.

Hostel accommodation is full board and includes meals (both vegetarian and
non-vegetarian). Non-vegetarian is served twice a week on fixed days. However,
food courts in the campus offer non-vegetarian food daily which is available at
a nominal cost.

All accommodation is on a triple sharing basis.

OFF CAMPUS HOSTELS:

UPES assists international students to reserve off-campus hostels. There is broad

spectrum of accommodation and facilities available with corresponding variation
in fees. On arrival, students must pay the required fees and security deposit directly
to the service provider.

LIVING COSTS - AN APPROXIMATE GUIDE

Living costs (transport, food, recreation) over and above accommodation and
tuition fees range from USD 150 to USD 300 but will depend on the individual and
should be paid directly to the student.

LOCAL TRANSPORT

Local transport is available on payment basis in the form of buses to and from the
campus/hostels in the mornings and evenings and taxis and three wheelers.

3.0 ADMISSION PROCESS

In order to process admissions, UPES will require the following:
1. Copies of mark sheets and certificates of secondary and higher secondary
school (equivalent to Indian class 10 and 12) verified by national educational
authority/embassy.
2. Completed UPES application form.
3. Copies of Passport and valid visa to study in India for duration of program .
