API 1104 Acceptance Criterias

The document outlines acceptance limits for various welding imperfections, including indications of inadequate penetration, incomplete fusion, slag inclusion, porosity, cracks, and undercutting. Specific criteria are provided for acceptable lengths and sizes of imperfections based on pipe diameter and wall thickness. Additionally, it states that imperfections in base materials detected by radiographic testing must be reported for further action by the company.

Burn Through BT shall be considered a defect when a portion of the area is thimner than the thinnest adjacent parent material. Slag Inclusion Elongated slag inclusions (ESIs)—for example, continuous or broken slag lines or wagon tracks—are found at the fusion zones. Isolated slag inclusions (ISIs) are irregularly shaped and may be located anywhere in the weld. Pipe Diameter—2.37 in, (60.3 mm) or Greater 1.The length of an ESI indication is accepted up to 2 inches (60 mm). 2 Parallel ESI indications separated by approximately the width of the root bead (wagon tracks) shall be considered a single indication unless the width of either of them exceeds 1/32 inches (0.8 mm). In that event, they shall be considered separate indications. 3.The aggregate length of ESI indications in any contimmous 12 inches (G00 mm) length of weld is accepted up to 2 inches (60 mm). 4.The width of an ESL is accepted up to 1/16 imches (1.6mm) 5.The aggregate length of IST indications in any continuous 12 inches (300 mm) length of weld is accepted up to % inches (13 mm). 6.The width of an ISI indication is accepted up to 1/8 inches (3 mm) 7 More than four ISI indications with the maximum width 1/8 inches (3 mm) are present in any continuous 12 inches (300 mm) length of weld. 8.The aggregate length of ESI and ISI indications is accepted up to 8% of the weld length Pipe Diameter—Less than 2.375 in. (60.3 mm) 1. The length of an ESI indication is accepted up three times the thinner ‘of the specified wall thicknesses joined. 2.Parallel ESI indications separated by approximately the width of the ‘root bead (wagon tracks) shall be considered a single indication unless the width of either of them is accepted up 1/32 inches (0.8 mm). In that event, they shall be considered separate indications. 3. The width of an ESI indication is accepted up 1/16 inches (1.6 mm). 4. The aggregate length of ISI indications is accepted up two times the thinner of the specified wall thicknesses joined and the width is accepted, ‘up to one-half the thinner of the specified wall thicknesses joined. 5. The aggregate length of ESI and ISI indications is accepted up 8 % of the weld length. (Cause 93.9) Porosity Porosity i generally spherical but may be elongated or uregular in shape, such as wormhole porosity, and when the size of the indication produced ‘by a pore is measured, the maximum dimension of the indication shall apply to the criteria given in below. Individual or Scattered Porosity 1 The size of an individual pore is accepted up to 1/8 inches (3 mm) in diameter or 25 % of the specified wall thickness, whichever is less ‘2.The size of an individual pore is accepted up to 25% of the thinner of the two specified wall thicknesses joined, but no mere than 1/8 inches (3 mum) in diameter. 2.The diswibution of seattered porosity enceeds the concentration, permitted by Figures. ‘Hollow Bead (HB) Porosity 1 The length of an individual indication of HB is accepted up to 1 inch (25 mm). 2.The aggregate length of indications of HB in any continuous 12 inches (300 mm) length of weld is accepted up to 2 inches ($0 mm). 3.The aggregate length of all indications of HB exceeds 8 % of the weld length. Cracks T-The erack, of any size or location in the weld, is not a crater erack or star crack. 2.The crack is a crater crack or star crack with a length that is accepted up to 5/32 inches (4 mm) 93.11) ‘Undercutting TThe aggregate leneth of indications of EU and IU, im any combination. in any continuous 12 inches (300 mm) length of weld is accepted up to 2 inches (50 mm). ‘2. The aggregate length of indications of EU and IU. in any combination, is accepted up to one-sixth of the weld length. Ps 8 Accumulation The aggregate leneth of indications in any continuous 12 inches (300 mum) length of weld is accepted up to 2 inches (50 mm). 2.The aggregate length of indications is accepted up to 8 % of the weld length. Base Material Imperfection: Tmperfections in the base material and/or seam welds detected by radiographic testing shall be reported to the company. The disposition of these imperfections shall be as directed by the company.
