The photos represent many things about Vietnam such as finding good in the bad and the care

for the
ones around you. The photos such as the soldier holding another back show that he doesn’t want his fellow friend
to continue want they were sent to do (search and destroy). This embodies the want of it all just to be over so bad
that he will pull his friend almost begging him to stop. The soldier counting the months on his head and crossing
them off shows the unknowing of how long they are going to be there. The guitar photo and a few others resemble
embracing the suck and finding good in it doing such things and playing guitar and even just talking with each
other. Finally, the people dragging a body through a swamp shows you the dedication to help others even in times
where they need help themselves.

Movie review:

The movie full metal jacket follows a group of recruits training for the Vietnam war. This movie
shows the psychological impact that the war had on many. This is shown by the constant slander from
the instructor. He specifically picks on two recruits which he names Private Pile and Private Joker. Both
recruits get assaulted together in public and absolutely humiliated. The two do everything together and
the group in total is trained to be strong mentally and be depersonalized to help for the upcoming
deployment. Joker begins to worry about Pile because he sees him talking to his rifle while the instructor
is impressed due to his new role modeling of a soldier. After their graduation they all receive jobs. During
their final night at the training camp Jokers finds Pile loading his rifle in the bathroom. He tries to calm
him down and this wakes up the drill sergeant. He orders pile to drop the rifle, pile then kills him and
commits suicide. Joker is sent to war and goes through many bad fights one of which he has to mercy kill
a snipe this ends the movie with Joker doing the thousand-yard stare resembling the mental impact on
soldiers.
